Not so fast on the Grizzlies/Heat talk:

Interesting that no one wants to offer more than the mid level exception. My how the mighty have fallen. I think the Denver debacle and the flame out in Detroit really hurt AI this year...

Despite his issues with Denver and Detroit "The Anwser" had last year, the more options Allen Iverson will have to get more money in the end. Is this a ploy by Iverson's agent to get the point gurard more money. That would be the question I would be asking if I were the Grizzlies right now.
With every day that passes, I think Memphis is getting more and more off the radar.

I don't believe the Grizz were ever on the radar, other than to jack the price up for others.
The national media wants to jump all over Memphis wanting AI for tons of reasons. Let's wait and see what they say about this. If they think AI and the Grizz are a bad fit, imagine him in a Clippers uniform. I heard the crap about how it would hinder our young players development. So I guess this only happens in Memphis and not in LA, who just happens to have a few damn good young players themselves. You would relegate Eric Gordon to the bench and take away touches from Blake Griffin. Same argument as the Grizz signing him but I haven't heard it yet from anyone. Somehow Randolph,Gay,OJ,and AI could not co-exist unless there were 4 balls on the floor but Griffin,Gordon,Davis,AI can? Give me a break.

Step away from the gun...its just the Grizzlies.

The media think the Grizzlies are a joke by the draft moves and picks they have made so far. I don't agree with all the moves they made in the last four or five years, but I like the direction the Grizz are headed. I would like to see a local owner with money come in and buy the Memphis Grizzlies. Then you let a good, competent basketball people make the basketball moves.
Iverson with the Clippers would be horrific for them. As bad as that franchise is it will kill them because he ruin Blake Griffin for not getting him the ball and eric gordon will not tolerate being on the bench. So if he doesn't want to come to Memphis...fine I'm over him if he is thinking about us as a fallout plan I don't want him here. It's bad as it is because Randolph will be a CANCER to the locker room. I promise you that.
The Grizzlies have had GREAT drafts the last 2 years. Flipping Love and scraps to Minnesota for Mayo and scraps was brilliant. I don't care how much we could have used Love now, OJ Mayo is going to be a superstar. Then they draft Thabeet,Carroll, and Young. Thabeet may have not been the greatest pick (not terrible either) but Carroll and especially Young were absolute steals. Funny how you see the guys on NBAtv credit us with the best draft of the night and then you flip it over to ESPN and see Chad Ford talking about how the Grizzlies had the worst draft night. Then you go over to CBS Sportsline to see them giving the Grizzlies a 'D' in draft grades. What's the difference? Why are the guys that are real basketball analysts and get paid to talk basketball 24/7 saying we have the best draft of the night when the "big" networks say we had one of the worst? Is it maybe because reporters such as Chad Fraud and Ric Bucher and Bill Simmons are sheep? Their hatred for Memphis blinds them from seeing what the "real" basketball analysts see, which is a GREAT draft. Then they write this garbage on ESPN or wherever else and millions of people read it and blindly follow along. The whole perception of Memphis Basketball outside of Memphis is created by those blowhards at ESPN (mostly) and all the other big networks and it's totally wrong.
^I agree with you jenkx. I liked the move for oj last year, and his play was exactly what i expected last year. I'm not crazy about thabeet obviously, but combined with marc gasol, our center position should be really good.

I like the picks for carroll and young late too, especially carroll. That pick could turn out to be one of those picks that will look genius in a few years.

As for iverson, let him go anywhere but chicago or memphis.
Sigh

Do you really think our center posistion should be really good when Thabeet and Gasol gotta go up against Tim Duncan, Dirk, Shaq, and Dwight Howard? Do I need to continue?

I think "really good" is an exagerration, but I think we are fairly solid there now - and will be for years to come. Thabeet will never be a numbers guy, but he will alter shots and disrupt the game plenty. I think he will get better and better. He won't be Dikembe Mutombo, but he won't be Shawn Bradley either...

That's why they are bringing in randolph at the 4 to add some punch down low (hopefully not literally). You don't have to be super strong in every position, though it helps. You have one decent center and maybe another one now. That is 12 fouls if nothing else, and i'm thinking that if thabeet can produce, yes, our center position has improved.
