I was on wikipedia today cruising around and stumbled on the ETSU page. I noticed that the universities page.. well.. kind of sucks.

I looked at other universities pages and noticed that they are light years ahead of our own. I know that alot of incoming students look at sites such as wiki when choosing a university and I don't think that anyone would be impressed.

I would try to make improvements to the site but I don't think that I have the tech know how to get it done.

I know that you guys are a bit more savvy with this kind of stuff and would like to see what you could put together.

Wikipedia is such a flawed source of fact. I wish they'd do away with it.

Agreed. I loved the story that broke a few months ago about a guy that purposefully created a false entry on Wikipedia as part of a class research project. He tracked how many media outlets picked up on the false quote he posted and then ran it as part of their reports.

I REALLY hope kids aren't using wikipedia when selecting a university. There are a lot of resources out there that are just as available and much more reliable.
In my opinon, any student depending upon information from Wikipedia doesnt' deserve college admission.
Of course wikipedia should never be the primary motivator to why a student would want to go to a school. sadly I'm sure that this is the case for some here, as I know many friends that have written papers exclusively from information obtained from wiki.

The thing is many people use it because it is quick and generally you can get alot of information all in one page. I usually use it as a lead when I'm doing research, not using it exclusively but letting it point me in the right direction so I can find the info. Anyways, Generally when people hear about smaller schools such as ETSU,( ohh say, on TV while sports center is breaking down the near upset of ETSU over #1 seed Pitt) they don't go to the school website where they have to navigate through hundreds of pages (atleast not me). They go to wiki to get the quick fix on the school.

Besides that half the atlantic sun schools pages are better than ours, I just figured that said a little something about our apathy as a school.

Also it has a football section but no basketball. Whats up with that?
I have a friend who edits wiki's civil war entries. He is a nurse with no formal background as a civil war historian. Nuf said. I stand by my previous comment.
I agree with Basketball then Homework here. While I realize that Wikipeida is not reputable source of information, the fact is a lot people do use it. And if you look around most colleges and universities has a lot of info on their wiki page, while ETSU's is very much lacking.
