NBA free agency begins tonight at 12am. Sources are saying that David Lee's agent will have him sign an offer sheet from the Memphis Grizzlies or the Oklahoma City Thunder that New York will not match. Since it seems OKC is going hard after Paul Millsap, Lee will likely be M-town bound if the story is true. Interesting tidbit, Lee and DeMarre Carroll have the same agent. Rumors came out the night before the draft that Memphis had promised Carroll they would pick him if he was still available at 27. Could that promise have been made because Carrolls agent promised to deliver Lee if the Grizzlies made his client a first round draft choice?
David Lee would be awesome. Would rather have Boozer but he's gonna cost way to much.

Boozer opted in to the last year of his contract with the Jazz, likely because of the economic climate. Thus, Lee is about the best PF the Grizzlies could hope for. I can only hope this rumor is true.
I always wanted the Grizzlies to draft Milsap. He seemed to have a special ability to get easy buckets and rebounds. I remember he tore it up against the Tigers.
Lee didn't want to play for us last year. I suppose with free agency that is offset by offering him more money.
^ Agree, Milsap would be the better power forward pick up.
Lee never said he didn't want to play for us. I believe it was on draft night last year that he cleared the air and said those were rumors and he never said that.
In college, Millsap led the country in rebounding for La. Tech. Rebounding prowess is never an accident and always translates to the NBA.
Lee would be a great fit. The front court of Lee/Thabeet/Gasol would be absolutely dominate on the boards. Also, Lee is still young enough to fit in with the youth of our team.

WTF? Maybe it's because Lee was asking too much and Heisley was being smart for once knowing if the Thunder get Millsap, they could have Lee for less. But probably not what am I thinking. This have everything to do with Heisleys man crush on Zach Randolph. According to a Clippers blogger on TrueHoop, negotiations between the Clippers and the Grizzlies could pick up again soon. WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!? So Randolph can teach OJ how to rob a liquor store? Maybe instead of having a press conference to introduce our new rookies each year, we will have gang initiations.
3 year plan man...3 year plan.....

Yeah, I read that a little while ago. I'm really frustrated with Heisley right now. I'd take Zach Randolph, but would greatly prefer Lee.
The more I hear from Heisley, though, the more I think our 4 spot will be manned by Arthur and Warrick again. Ugh....
Big Baby? Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan.

You are kidding me? What is up with Heisley? Lee or Villanueva are the guys we need. NOT Randolph, please NOT Randolph.

Ask a Knicks fan how the pairing of Q Richardson and Z Randolph worked out for them?

Rumor is that Q is a part of the trade for Z-Bo.

Where are you hearing that rumor? I thought Q was a good pick up for some scoring off the bench. Bonzi without the 'tude...
He is not Bonzi, not even close. Bonzi was awsome for that half season!. Bonzi may have played the best any Grizzlie has EVER played for that half season. Of courese that's as long as he could hold it together, but for those 3 months, he was incredible.
Posey had the best run ever that first year he came here. So money in so many ways.
Randolph is a team killer. You do not want him on your team, ever. I wouldn't want him if he played for free.
Richardson is not a terribly deft scorer--career 11 ppg and only shoots 40% from the field. Hardly instant offense.
Richardson shot 39% last year, which would have placed him third from last in the NBA in shooting percentage.
In 07-08, Q shot 36% from the field, which would have put him dead last in the NBA in fg% had he played enough games (only played 65).

I like that option, moreso than Lee
btw, Davis is 6-9 286. Lee is 6-9 240
I do not understand how Davis is a better option than Lee. The stats are not even close. Lee is a double double machine

Lee's stats are inflated from huge minutes for a fast-paced team. Having said that, I'd love to see him in a Grizzlies uniform next year. He's definitely a better option than Big Baby, but not a better option than Millsap. IMO
I dot even understand why we are debating this. Heisley will not shell out any money to sign anyone. The franchise is a joke, but i love it.

NO, people like you are a joke! But I love it!
I applaud the grizz management. They've put themselves in position with one of the highest salary cap room in a season where they're only a few teams can even spend anything. The move to attempt to take on Zach Randolphs contract draft night, should show you they're definitley trying to spend money.
from what I have seen of Lee, his offensive game is limited. He gets points in transition and garbage hoops.
Davis has more skill on the offensive end and can be a threat inside, where I don't think Lee can. That won't work playing next to Thabeet. You need an option at PF. Davis also has more of a chance to play against the smaller centers in the league if you want to go with a smaller lineup; something else Lee can't do.

When Hak and Arthur are our PF next season I would like an apology.
Lee would be a great pick up he is a double double machine

Davis' career regular season averages are 5.8 ppg and 3.5 rpg. His playoff averages are 8.4 ppg and 3.3 rpg. And the playoff scoring average is only that high because he put up unusually high numbers this year. He's also essentially an undersized lumbering center. We've got two of those, already, thank you very much.
Lee's career averages are 10.9 ppg and 9.0 rpg.
Lee also gets his points way more effeciently shooting at .564 and .759 from the line. Davis is at .456 and .698 in fg% and ft%.
I'm not excited about signing Lee. Especially if it is a 5 year contract. He's certainly not the long term answer at PF. But I could live with it.
Davis would be an absolute disaster.
According to Yahoo sports we are preparing an offer to David Lee.
The Memphis Grizzlies are considering a commitment of five years and $60 million to New York Knicks restricted free agent, David Lee, league sources said.
Although Hoopshype says, according to several league executives, we are preparing a $50 million offer. Could be a typo or conflicting reports, no way to know at this point. I'm just happy we are willing to spend money to make the team better.
60 million for Lee is way to high.
Detroit made a pretty big splash landing Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva.
Grizz just acquired Randolph from the Clippers for Q. Richardson.

Wow what a joke. This is exactly what you need when you are trying to help young talent reach potential
Brady, i mean MEMPH1S, you get Randolph in the trade and he is you starter. You dont sign back Warrick and when you get Lee he is your back-up. When ZR doesnt preform then you start Lee

Man that sounds great and I would be happy if that happened, but there is no way Heisley will spend any money now other than a back up PG. No more big money players will be brought to Memphis. Heisley is to cheap.
We could have spent money to get David Lee and gotten a guy who would help the young talented players we have, work hard, and be a solid piece of our future but instead the Memphis Grizzlies big move is.......

Zach Randolph is an awful addition to a young team. He's a scorer but doesn't make a team better. He generally makes a team worse. Look at the teams that he left. They all seemed to get better when he left. Out of all the choices out there we got Randolph.

That's exactly what the Grizzlies need. At least I can get a good laugh or two from watching him play.
Ariza is leaving L.A.
He and/or Artest to Cavs?
When his (ZR's) contract expires we can sign Boozer.
Who will be the point guard we go after now?
