Was that what you reached for as you passed Arkadelphia and saw Blazer Field (err...Legion Field) over the hill?

I think it applies more appropriately to all those folks who cheered like crazy for Miami on Saturday night, thinking that Alabama would move up, only to find out that Miami (with a loss) passed them in the polls, and probably passed them in the BCS standings as well.
I can't imagine why Miami would pass them, though, since the 'Canes only beat #3 Virginia Tech 27-7 on the road - and mighty Alabama shut out lowly Mississippi State, 17-0, on the road (with no offensive touchdowns).

hate to burst your bubble. the bcs standings are out and alabama is #3, not by much, but they will move up after wins against both of the tiggers.

Yeah, I just saw that...BARELY ahead of Miami.
Hope Shula pulls some semblance of an offense out of his magic hat - or winning either of the next two games will be next to impossible.

won't need much, the defense only gives up 8 points a game.

Other than Florida, what high powered offense have you faced?
11-07-2005, 05:19 PM
You scored THREE (3) points on offense against lowly Mississippi State.
LSU and Auburn are much better defensively than Mississippi State.
When is the last time Alabama's offense scored a touchdown?

It would be totally embarrasing if Bama played USC,Texas, or Miami. They should just pray for a good bowl game and stop whining about not playing for a NC.
BTW: AU and LSU WILL beat bama by a combined 30 points.

Part of me is hoping UAT does win the next two games and then watch a mudhole get stomped in them in their bowl game. Either way, UAT can look forward to at least one loss this season... I think UAT will be doing well to win another game this season.

LSU only scored 24 on D-IAA Appalachian State and they're supposed to whup us?
I'll 10-1 or 9-2 however we can take it. Much better than my Samford Bulldogs are doing.

kinda like how bama barely beat everyone in 92 and wasn't in the same league as miami? don't get ahead of yourself sax...oops i mean stunner
remember, the games are played on the field not on paper. carolina, florida and ut were all supposed to beat bama, but all failed. :own3d:

I think the '92 team was able to score a few offensive touchdowns in conference games, though.

Alabama's undefeated and you've got to give them props for that. I sure wish we were. But they have only played 1 fair team all season. Tough to be too confident with the 3-4 best teams (4 if SECCG) you will play all season are all in a row at the end. They may win out. I highly highly doubt it. But the comparisons to 1992 are a little rediculous. That was 10 times the team this is. What they do have in common is the abilty to beat a suspect opponent and make it seem like they were the 85 Bears. 1992 played an extremely suspect team in the NC game, not the super-uber-juggernaut -goliath they've been made out to be in the last 13 years. "Can you believe it Ned? Ole' Alabama sure showed them." Yeah Jed. It was the tradishun."
1992 Miami won the NC the year before that's why they had the USC love working for them so much back then. Have a lil look at their results...Going into the bowls...
UR opponents .... Ranked opponents
Iowa W 24-7 .......#22 Arizona W 8-7 (they only won 6)
FAMU W 38-0 .....#3 FSU W 19-16
TCU W 45-10 .....#21 Penn St W 17-14 (they won 7)
VT W 43-23 ......#6 Syracuse W 16-10
WV W 35-23
Temple W 48-0
SDSU W 63-17
and then #2 Alabama L 13-34
Had the internet been going strong, the mystique this Miami team had would have been long gone before the NC game. And you might not have any casinos left in Vegas.
This years Alabama would probably have a better chance beating that same Miami team than running the table the rest of this year. Im not saying Alabama wasn't the best team, just that that Miami wasn't the 85 Bears, more like the 83 Cougars. And this years Florida is more like this yrs Vandy. Don't get your hopes up.

very nice post, about time someone around here used some facts instead of the old tired line "i hate uat and they cheat" thats why they will lose.
i wasn't trying to compare this years team to the 92 team at all, i only mentioned that it was much the same that year, the defense was dominating and they just found ways to win the games, even if no one gave them a chance to win.
wahoo go alabamer we gon beet dem lil tiggers on saterdy

I had to throw one jab in there didn't I? This is in fact the blazers board. You werent necessarily comparing the two. Just how they win games. But talk radio, other boards, etc. throw it up all the time. This was the only place I could put a response I guess.
I have been somewhat surprised by the lack of NC talk from the other half of Tide fans (the graduate type) . Afterall they are 9-0. I thought all of Tide nation would be in a frenzy by now. I guess nobody really expected this after what they've done the last few years (I didn't). Most seem to realize they have a tough road and its pretty much 50/50 with every team down the stretch.
I don't believe they will win out and, as a blazer fan, can't say I'm hoping they do either. But we'll see what happens.

When Auburn got screwed last year, many Bammers (surely not any of our beloved resident UAT fans :D ) said, "That would never happen to us." Why not? "Because we're Bama."
Well, exactly one year later, it's shaping up to be exactly what's going to happen to them.
And next year, it will be someone else, and so on, until someone gets there head out of their anal orifice and gives us a playoff.

As a Bama fan (primarily), I don't think there's any way our team is playing better than USC or Texas. Our defense and special teams are playing National Championship caliber games, but the offense isn't. Twenty-five years ago, probably; but not now. The pollsters like high scoring games. Now, if it would have been a low-scoring, undefeated Notre Dame sitting in fourth, Miami would NOT have jumped them. If we finish 10-2 or 9-2, we will still have a lot of be proud of this season.
Or Michigan in 99 (?).
