So I'm at Southeast Missouri State University for a few days. As I was driving into town and saw the billboard for the fighting Redhawks.

Man, it brought back memories of ETSU football growing up. I remember how excited we'd get when a billboard went up.

I have no idea how good Southeast Missouri is, but I'll check around when I'm on campus tomorrow.

Hard to imagine Cape Girardeau can afford football and Johnson City can't.
By Division II, I'm assuming you mean 1-AA. SEMO is I-AA.
You are correct. Sorry about that. It was a long day of flying/driving.
So, the P.R. director (that's not her official title) spent the day listening to me speak at SE Missouri state and afterwards I quizzed her about their athletic program. I learned that they only draw about 3,000 for football games. I asked if there was any thought of giving it up ... she seemed surprised that anyone would even ask. Their thoughts are only on making it better.

Interesting.
considering how poor their team has been of late - is amazing they draw what they draw. desperately need some facility improvements (press box, stadium infrastructure, etc). they have a new ad who i bet gets this done. by the way, semo plays in the league that etsu should be in.

Cape is a hellhole, but kudos to them for trying to better themselves.

Interesting.

Guess they are rolling in dough to have that attitude.
