*Just an update*

The opening up of 16th Street to Univ. Blvd. is almost complete. The lanes have been painted and the traffic lights/crossing signals are up. They need only to paint the bike lanes and install benches along the side of the road. The benches are being installed today supposedly and the bike lanes will be painted soon. Next, before opening up 16th Street, they are going to go ahead and put traffic lights at 16th Street and 9th as well as 16th and 10th. Once all of this has been done, 16th Street will reopen. All of this is expected to be completed by around Nov. 14th or so.

Once 16th Street is opened, almost immediately, 15th Street will be shut down from 10th Ave to Univ. Blvd. as will 9th Ave. from 16th St. to 15th St. These roads will then be ripped up and preparations for the Campus Green will begin.

FYI- There will be NO parking along 16th Street once it is opened. If you park there, you will be towed or ticketed.
ALSO:

The new dorm is coming along QUITE nicely...they're making record progress on it, I'm sure.

I dont know about record time, but one thing's for sure... whenever UAB decides theyre going to do something, they dont fool around getting it completed.

Anyone know of a timeframe on the campus green? Bell tower or no bell tower, etc?

Well I just know that two months ago, it had 2 stories....and now they've almost finished external construction to the top floor. Wow.

What about the parking lots on 15th street? Are they making new access points for those?

They won't exist much longer...both the Chemistry building parking lot and the CB15 parking lot are sitting right where the Campus Green will be, so they'll both be demolished with the quickness.
I'm not sure what will be done in the short-term... obviously in the long-term, they will be removed, but in compensation for that, the parking deck on 10th Ave and 16th Street is being built. I'm not sure of the timeline on the parking deck, but I think those lots will be closed before the parking deck is complete. They MAY decide to keep 15th Street open until the parking deck is completed, but I wouldnt necessarily count on that.
I sincerely hope that the Chemistry lot is left open until the parking deck is finished. Parking sucks enough as it is if you get there at the wrong time.

Really? I had not heard that officially that would happen. I hope its design is unique and distinguished. No one wants a Denny Chimes Jr.
^I agree. We need something unique to UAB like a giant blowtorch that shoots a giant ball of fire into the air every 15 minutes.
