Memphis will be fine, Calipari and UK, however, are screwed. Even if the 07-08 season is vacated, the future of Memphis bball is safe under Pastner and no penalties will be leveraged. Uk and Calipari, however, should be sitting on coals right now. Its about to get ugly.
If we would have won the championship, we wouldn't have anything to worry about. The NCAA does not vacate NCAA National Champions in men's basketball. If UNLV's 1990 title stood up, our's would have as well. Just watch what happens to Kansas and the Darrell Arthur affair. Arthur was clearly ineligible, but because Kansas won the National Championship, the whole thing will be overlooked because the NCAA does not vacate championships.

Dude. I can tell you are still bitter from that @ss whoopin' we put on y'all 2 years ago. Go away. Just another hater wanting to jump on the pile. I still remeber the look of disbelief on Izzo's face during the thumping.

Hell, the team that beat us in `07-`08 had an ineligble player and they still hoisted the banner last year. No talk of them vacating wins or hardware.
Man, still holding a grudge from the worst a** whooping we have seen in a long time.

JMS your comment above is fraught with disinformation. The two situations aren't comparable. First of all Arthur's school was accused of changing the grade not Arthur himself. After a lengthy investigation by the Dallas Public Schools Arthur was cleared of any wrongdoing and allowed to graduate. Kansas University and no link to the high school alleged grade tampering. The NCAA never investigated Arthur's recruitment to KU, never. Secondly, the NCAA does not make decisions based upon athletic success. If you believe that then you have drunk too much kool aide.

The questions surrounding Rose are not ambiguous. Who facilitated the SAT taking? Who allowed payments to family members be the third party (WWW) or who was aware of the those payments being made? The allowing of non team members to fly on the team plane with out reimbursement. These are the issues the NCAA are interested in.

My sympathy lies with Memphis. You guys after your loss, after the coach leaving, after your prized recruits baled, don't need this sh#t. I agree there won't be a Pasner problem and hopefully it goes away quickly and is directed more towards Lexington.

I am not taking shots at Kansas. I am simply stating that the NCAA will never vacate a champion. They will find a way to go easy on that program. I believe that in reality, Arthur was not eligible, but he will be cleared and Kansas' championship will remain intact.
JMS Tiger is just stating a FACT, however I will say CHEATING is CHEATING no mattter what. Changing grades on transcripts or having someone take an entrance test its still cheating, Memphis or Kansas NO DIFFERENCE.

Go about 3 hours south to Clinton, MS and ask to see the 1989 NCAA Division II Football Championship trophy if you don't think the NCAA will ever vacate a champion. Maybe you meant at the D1 men's basketball level?

I appreciate the fact you aren't taking any shots at KU. KU after winning the 1988 championship was put on probation for paying for a plane ticket for Vincent Askew to attend a funeral for a family member prior to his visit at KU. Memphis and KU were in a recruiting battle for Askew and Kirk the Memphis coach got wind of the ticket and reported KU to the NCAA. Today this is not a violation. KU was the first defending champion not to have been eligible to defend it's crown.

You're right I can't think of any NCAA basketball champions that had to vacate. A few runner ups. Most of us are following the USC football situation with great interest. If nothing happens to them then you might be on to something. But most people in LA believe the other shoe is going to fall and they might get the death penalty.
KU Buthead, Your comment above is fraught with disinformation.
sfboggsz, You are a IDIOT First Kirk was not the Coach in 1988-89, and second Vincent Askew was already a player for Memphis ( not a recruit) and Kansas was tampering with an existing player on scholarship at another University.

Wrong, most people in L.A. are wondering where there jobs went, and wondering why this state is becoming the 3rd World like the country below it.

And why Kobe Bryant doesn't have enough assists.

Did a kansas troll use the phrase "fraught with disinformation??"

Talk about a blind poster.

Sorry smooth, but if you are trying to make a difference between Arthur and Rose you are failing. Seems that neither university was aware at the time that the kids cheated. That is similar. Your homer distinction to make kansas seem cleaner somehow is typical asinine trolling.

I'm guilty of being a "KU Butthead" but I ain't no troll!

P.S. The situations are completely different. A good comparison would be OJ Mayo's recruitment to US$. Did Arthur know his transcript was changed? No. Was Rose aware of someone else taking his test? Yes. Is there a difference between a mid-term course and a SAT? Yes. See the difference.

If you believe Arthur didn't know his transcript was changed I have a bridge that runs over the Mississippi to sell you...
Vacating a Champion would be bad for NCAA business. They do no wrong, just all the institutions. Lets drop the pretense. Everyone cheats. Everyone. Hell Kansas has been on probation at least twice in the last 20 years. Don't see a lot of stigma with them. But tampering with Askew was alright. It's just gamesmanship, one upsmanship , when it's your team. If it's not your team. It's cheating.

Just like medication. If you take a pain killing shot to play for your school, you are a trooper, a man. If you get caught smoking a joint, you are a doper. This is not Do gooder work. Too much money on the line. This is not charity bible school stuff. Legalise everything, no rules. Apparently they don't work anyway.

And if you can win a National Championship while on Probation, what is the big deal? Arthur was cleared, Rose was cleared. But the Testing people thought it would be more prudent to send a letter to him in chicago, where they knew he wasn't. Why not a registered letter to the University of Memphis campus. Sorry I was using logic.
