Somebody please tell me why Troy's football program has a prime time story on ESPN.com? The UofM is a much higher caliber team. We could really be at the "next level," if our school leaders and the city ever got on the same page and leveraged our advantages.

Has that happened at Troy? If so then you have your answer.

I have met Rick personally and can tell you he is hands down the best in the business. THAT is what the article is about.
Take a look at Graham Watson's blog on espn.com. She shows us some love on a few of the must-watch non-bcs games this year. Our match-up with Southern Miss as well as East Carolina.

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/others/0-4-44...-Trip.html
The amazing thing about Graham Watson's article is that she's apparently one of the four people who aren't Memphis fans who also realize how talented this team is going to be.
They are a 3 time National Champion. We do not hold such an honor

Don't count out UCF: I haven't talked about the Knights much, but they have the defense to make a push in the conference

SMU will be decent: A lot has been made about coach June Jones putting two freshmen quarterbacks at the top of the depth chart, but I would not be surprised if they did enough to put this team in bowl contention. SMU will have the six wins necessary for bowl eligibility this year.

UTEP will have the best defense: Yeah, I'm crazy to think last season's 117th-ranked defense in the country will turn into the best defense in C-USA, but coach Mike Price brought in new defensive coordinator Osia Lewis from New Mexico to teach the 3-3-5 blitzing scheme. It will be something C-USA hasn't seen much of in the past

Calm down, turbo.
Sun belt has been elevated while CUSA has been devalued accordingly in football. Troy took Southern Miss into OT at the New Orleans Bowl last year. They beat the hell out of Rice(7-6) in 2006 who's head coach then was Graham(Tulsa's coach now).
they almost beat lsu in tiger stadium last season.

Oh, balls.
Tommy west needs to go all out and hire richard shaughnessy as our head strengh and conditioning coach. We need to build brand new and bigger weight facilitys and a in door practice facility as well for our football team. But he should pay and hire richard to come here and hire billy rolle of miami northwestern high school as our special teams coach. Then watch out if he did that fellows. We need to push this and these issues harder though. Even before we push for a on campus stadium.
Hate to say it, but IMO Troy would hammer the Tigers in foootball if they played. They never should've lost that bowl game to S.Miss as they were comfortably ahead by two touchdowns for most of the game. They also played Ohio State tough last year in Columbus with a chance to win in the 4th quarter before OSU took control.

They have some very talented players, look who they've put in the NFL recently. Outside of the Florida schools they have more players from the state of Florida than any other school in the country.
All smack aside.....Troy is really good and has been for a few years now.
Whats up Memphis fans!

Been a long time since I was around these parts in Dec 07 for FAU's game vs Memphis in the NObowl.

I would say that the top Tier programs in the Belt (Troy, FAU) are better then Memphis at this time.

Troy is really loaded this year and in no large part due to the stability they've had in head coach and the Strength coach mentioned in that article.

FAU is in a similar situation Head Coach wise.

The belt is rising quickly, I think Memphis fans and CUSA fans should keep an eye out on thier rear and side view mirrors. You're likely to see a few SunBelt teams passing you, and up front, 1 or 2 are already ahead.

Happy Offseason!

I guess it's true. Troy does have a fan.
OK real fast fellows! Stop with the nonsense. Troy shoulda been smoked by lsu who let them back in it which wouldn't happen again. Second usm best reciever got hurt and still won. Now Blueraider, please stop your nonsense ok. Asu whos best defensive coach jack curtis joined the tigers staff for a better job. Now randy finscher who is with the pittsburg steelers along with kevin butler, have super bowl rings. And then tim walton joined the lions. Yet u talk coaches. Now when has troy, fau, mtsu ever had a deangelo williams type player and go that high. Let me remind u all,NEVER! And with justin thompson signed here at memphis, look out boys. Jermaine mackenzie, his borther tramaine, again end of story. The belt, please! C-usa is in way better shape than the belt. You boys would so jump to be in c-usa. So go home, relax, its ok. Your not c-usa fellows.
Seriously Troy fans, all two of you, don't start talking smack. You're still Troy. I can take a dump and try to convince everyone it doesn't smell. But bottom line, it's still crap.

Troy has Ware (1st round draft pick, Pro Bowler), Umenyiora (Pro Bowler, Super Bowl winner), McKelvin (1st round draft pick).

So Memphis signed a 5 star DT ? Troy signed Dion Gales 2 years ago (5-star DT) + DT Eugene Kinlaw (4-star, #5 JC player in the nation by rivals and NJCAA Defensive player of the year) this year.
Listen here! Not gonna get into no darn who has who ok. I could go on with memphis players in the nfl. Williams is top 5 rb. And that super bowl winner u talk of, well butler was helping coach on defense and guess where mike tomlin got his start, hmm memphis son. And tim walton joined the lions staff. Not only our players, but our coaches go nfl now. Name me one troy coach, coaching in nfl. None buddy. Also memphis is getting more and more florida kids as well. Again like we told u lil dudes, its ok! YOu are not, last time i hope C-usa!

Question: What is Memphis's record against Sun Belt teams since 2006?
We can't really talk smack to Troy.

Nice to see a realistic Memphis fan. You can't talk smack to MT, ASU or FAU either. Nothing wrong with that. Those are good teams. I've seen Memphis when they were playing a lot better than they are now, so I know you guys aren't in top form. Having said that, the Sunbelt teams get better every year (at least so far...had no where to go but up for a long time).

Embarrassing.
Hey, Tigers shouldn't be bad-mouthing other small programs. Troy has built their program up from a lower division to FBS in just a few years. They had that upset of Missouri a few years back, played Ohio State close at the Horseshoe last year and they have won their conference. Plus, they have started getting players into the pros, like Demarcus Ware, and...I know there's another one...oh well, maybe just Ware. Not saying they're a more news worthy program...just saying that they aren't not newsworthy; I certainly wouldn't begrudge them they're article(s).

Maybe they're saving the story about the Tigers till closer to football season.
Guys i was making a joke. I think its funny how they come to our board to talk thrash and put us down all the time like they are better than us. I been to troy, and trust me they got nothing on the university of memphis. And if they played us i feel we would win. And we will win against mtsu ok. Now fau, well let me tell u something, they are ok but not even close to where we are. And yes sun belt versus c-usa last year 1-9. Now if c-usa would have troy, fau, mtsu they would jump in a second. They just wanna jump out of the belt to a better conference which would be c-usa. Just do not like them acting like they love the belt so much, then come here put us down yet would be in c-usa so fast. Thats all.

Cbhstiger i do! But do u know the talent we got this year. And we got jack curtis. And i know jermaine mackenzie and his brother. Trust me troy would not wanna play us this year, and neither would fau. And mtsu will get it handed to them. I do not think u realize how good our team is gonna be this year. Last year we were beginning to get it together at the end. But watch out for lance smith and our defense this year. We are loaded!
Lets hope a good sized crown shows up in the Buro this season. A win over Miss would do wonders.

I just don't see you guys beating Troy or MT. Not trying to be a jerk, but you just aren't there yet. If you do, great, but I don't think you've come that far. As far as the Conf USA record last year vs the Sunbelt, the year before that, it was more balanced, but what does any of that matter? We are talking about what Memphis will do. No, trust me I know how good we could be this year with the talent we have coming from transfers and other becoming eligible. I am not arguing that point, but honestly to belittle the sunbelt and the teams in it seems a bit childish. Also considering our record against that conference and all the trash talk I have seen over the years before playing a team in the sunbelt, it is a little unwarranted to be talking trash to likes of Troy, who held their own with LSU no matter how you put it.
