this year. Did you realize he played more minutes than anyone on the team this past season except John Fowler? And was one of our leading scorers. No program is going to waste that talent and experience by not awarding them a scholarship. In my opinion, based upon the stats, it has to be a done deal.01-lauramac2

If it's a done deal, we need to see it in the paper. If it's going to happen, I don't see why it's such a secret.

That's a question for which I don't have the answer. I guess it's just the personalities of the folks involved. I would guess some coaches and/or administrators like to play things closer to the vest, and others are willing to share everything with the public. There is no right or wrong. It's just a difference in personalities. If it takes place, I guess we'll hear when they feel the time is right.04-cheers

Personally, I don't care when I hear or read about it, I just hope that Matt already knows the score. If they are not going to put him on scholarship, then he needs to know it so he can transfer to another program if that is his desire. It would not be fair to Matt to string him along and then not give him a scholarship.

That's one bet you don't want to make.04-rock

I agree entirely. Surely our staff would not do that.

I can't say whether or not he'll be on scholarship, but I can assure you he'll be on the roster. You can read into that anything you wish.01-lauramac2
I like the kid and his dad, but come on. If the kid has to play a bunch of minutes, then something has gone wrong in recruiting. In a perfect world, he would play about 10 to 15 minutes a game depending on match-ups.

Also, in a perfect world, there would be screens that produced clean looks for him and in that case he can play until he asks to come out.

Personally, I don't see the kid getting one. There are 6 or 7 kids we have signed plus a team full of kids that could come back. Total right now we have like 16 kids that we have said can have a schollarship, right? So, 4 kids are out of luck, right?

Someone break that down to how a kid with means to pay his way is going to get a free ride? I am not saying it is right but the only way I see this working out for Mouzy is if Jerry cuts a check and sends it to the family. Mr. Mouzy, Jerry's check is in the mail.

Thankfully, my checkbook is safe. And I predict Mr. Mouzy's is also. This is a perfect example of why coaches coach, and we speculate.
One way or the other, III will be on the team the next two seasons braking scoring records, assuming he makes his grades, which doesn't seem to be a problem.01-lauramac2

I know we signed McBride to be our shooting guard next year. Since we haven't signed anyone to replace him, that may leave that spot for Mouzy. I agree that in a perfect world, he would be coming off the bench for us especially if we want to get to that "next level" everyone keeps talking about. Just not sure I see anyone better on the horizon. Based on what we have and appear to have signed, we likely need to make sure he comes back and give him a scholarship.

Seems I remember you saying not too long ago, that if Matt didn't get the "promised" scholarship, he wouldn't be back. Now you are assuring us that he will be on the roster regardless. I'm confused.

Add me to the list. I was certainly under the impression from conversations with people who know Matt and his family that he would look to transfer without a scholarship. Now Dr. J says otherwise.

All I said was that he will be back. You can read into that whatever you wish. Any official information as to his scholarship status will have to come from the University.01-lauramac2
