i went out on a couple of dates with a guy i met on match.com back in 2003, before i ever met my husband. i was super-careful about how much info i gave out, but the guy was perfectly nice. we dated for probably a month or so, about halfway through that time i met my future husband & decided the other dude had to go...

I've used Eharmony before. They match you based on compatability which is a good thing I guess. You can't browse profiles on there...they send you matches. Well I closed out 150 profiles and only went on one date. We went out twice and then he never called again. Once I did talk to him he told me he didn't have time for a relationship. My only question was "Why are you on Eharmony if you don't have any time for a relationship"....and he couldn't answer that.
It is alot of money but if I were to use one again I'd use that one.

Some vegan sites. Yeah, let's just say it didn't work out too well, but Atlanta was REAL nice.
One of my friends used a local service and paid megabucks for compatibility and screening and all, and had such poor compatibility with the first two dates, she declined the other 13 or something.
But I did make some really nice friends online whom I never dated. And one is a lady I stayed with in England and who is coming to visit me this summer. It's a great way to meet really cool people and travel cheaply. But then, I kind of think that is not what you had in mind.

Eharmony's the best...but whatever route you choose, keep these things in mind...
>Be sure you're ready for a relationship. Testing the waters means a lot of potential rejection. Be prepared for that. It requires time, effort, and $$$.
>Be yourself and be honest. Ask your partner to do the same. If this isn't possible, you're wasting time.
>Know what you want and take your time. Anyone can be on their best behavior for a little while. But a few of life's experiences can show you a lot of what they're made of.
>Make sure they're interested in you and not wanting this for the wrong reasons.
JMHO...take 'em for what they're worth.

Someone at work printed out something from one of those sites showing he / she paid something like $275.
No thanks.

Eharmony is a fraction of that. Not even close.

Make sure the picture they send is a CURRENT picture of THEMSELVES. Trust me on this.

I prefered Match.com over eHarmony. Never had any luck with the latter. LOTS of dates from match.com, but most weren't serious about relationships. I did have a lot of fun with it. I had given up pretty much on both paid sites and then as luck would have it, I met and married the woman of my dreams off MySpace. FREE BABY FREE!!!

Met a girl in an AOL chatroom once. Been with her for 3 1/2 years now. Crazy.

Has anyone ever dated a girl they met on MTO?

I heard a story I thought was pretty funny. Eharmony.com doesn't allow everyone who wants to join to actually join. Now, getting turned down by a guy or girl is typically bad, but getting turned down by a computer is pretty bad. That 50 year-old 400lb guy who lives with his mother won't be able to find the "love of his life" on eharmony.
I have a friend who met a guy from Wisconsin by playing WOW. She doesn't look bad, but I just think its weird.

I can remember using IRC in the mid 90's to meet chicks and hook up. Ahhhh UNIX servers for gettin' tail...those were the days.

Just two words: Earnestine & Hazel's. (on the weekends)

Well, a few more words. "Quality" people in there. Trust me. But choose wisely.

Well, you didn't think about that statistically did you.
How many "Quality Vegan" SM do you think there are outside of India, LOL.
I paid for one of those $1400 services (offline, personal interview, etc) back in '98, they only will give you a match every 4-6 weeks, I was in a serious relationship before I even had the 5th date. What a waste.
