I think our question about JT got a firm answer today. His remodeled golf course, Mirimichi (Old Big Creek), looks to be unbelievably nice, green fees are more than fair. How do they do it?
"Justin and the Harlesses (his mother, Lynn, and stepfather, Paul) do not need to commercialize Mirimichi for profit," said Mirimichi general manager Richard Peterson.

"It's to thank Memphians for everything they've done."

Golf course is just the start:

Cal, good luck getting him to Lexington.
i cant wait to play it
Sweet!
I played there in HS when it was Woodstock Hills. It was very nice then, but had definitely deteriorated over the years. After not playing there for about 20 years, I played there 2 years ago, and while still decent, it was far from world class.
Thanks JT!
Where did JT go to high school?
he went to Millington Central
i love me some jt! especially when he comes home and brings friends :)
JT was in Florida by the time he was 12, making it big, I don't think he did HS around here.
I need to save my nickels and dimes to play there or take advantage of the twilight rate. I've played there a number of times over the years. The last time was in January and three of us hit our tee shots left of a par 3 green...the balls were rolling across the frozen pond...since then, we don't play below 50 degrees.

Look forward to seeing the improvements. Thanks, JT and family!!

Thanks JT!

I played Big Creek for the 1st time in a high school golf match there in '79 and loved the bent grass greens...played it every 3 or 4 years since then and I'm excited that JT is financing the remodel...the place had turned into a virtual dump over the past 20 years.
We talked about the new remodel while playing today. It sounds like it is stunning! I know a guy that has gone out there and says it will be the best course in the mid south easily! Cant wait to play it!
I know one of the guys on the design team...they do great work!!
The greens fees seem high --- wonder what the cart fee is --- looks like on a weekend it will take a bill to play a round of 18.

JT went to Jeter Elementary then homeschooled his middle and high school years.
Not sure I am gonna recognize the place. the back nine was my favorite layout in the area for 9 holes. I was reading the descriptions and that is some MAJOR changes. Should be nice and glad someone did something with it!!
That course must be talked about in entertainment circles as an investment. The last time I played it (circa 1990), it was owned partially by Prince.

he was at jeter for part of middle school as well...it used to be a k-8 school
I got to see the back nine a while back and it is amazing. They have done wonders with the place, just wish I could have landed the job I applied for out there.
im not sure about the "niceness" of the course yet since it hasnt opened but green fees under a bill seem competitive from what im hearing about what has been put into it to make it one of Memphis's finest.

I just don't understand who is gonna drive 30-45 minutes to play this course for $100 a pop on the weekend --- but if anyone can do it in Memphis area, he can.
I think those fees include the cart.
