Every afternoon at five o'clock
I forget all about you
There ain't nothin' 'bout this honky-tonk
To remind me we're through
And I can put off going back
To that ol' empty house you swore you'd never leave
From the loneliness you handed me
I can get a brief reprieve
From here until closing time
It won't matter you're gone
I can fill up my emptiness
Maybe make it on my own
From now til they lock the doors
Put the chairs up and sweep the floors
You won't even cross my mind
From here until closing time
Well the good old days are good and gone
Since you left without me
If I could figure out where we went wrong
Then maybe I'd be free
From these ties that bind my foolish heart
And just won't let me start my life again
Then I wouldn't need this lonesome bar
Where I come to pretend
From here until closing time
It won't matter you're gone
Your memory won't break my heart
I can make it on my own
From now til they lock the doors
Put the chairs up and sweep the floors
You won't even cross my mind
From here until closing time
Every afternoon at five o'clock
I forget all about you

I didn't realise they spelled "Closing" incorrectly in the title, until today.

Now there's a backseat lover
that's always undercover
and I talked till my daddy say
said "ya ain't seen nothing till your down on a muffin
and there's sure to be a change in way"
now there's a cheerleader, that's a real big pleaser
as far as I could reminice
and the best thing loving was your sister and your cousin
and it started with a little kiss.......... like this

She start swinging with the boys in school
and her feet are flying up in the air
singing hey diddle diddle with the kitty in the middle
and you swinging like you just don't care
so I took a big chance at the high school dance
with a lady who was ready to play
it wasn't me she was fooling
cause she new what she was doing
when she told me how to walk this way......she told me to...

walk this way, talk this way
walk this way, talk this way
she told me to...
walk this way, talk this way
walk this way, talk this way
well, just give me a kiss......................well, like this

School girl sleezy with a classy kinda sassy
little skirt hanging way up her knee
there were three young ladies in a school gym locker
and I find there were looking at D
I was a high school loser never made it with a lady
till the boys told me something i miss
then my next door neighbor
had a daughter, had a favor
and I gave the girl a little kiss......... like this

She start swinging with the boys in the school
with your feet flying up in the air
singing hey diddle diddle
with the kitty in the middle
I was swinging like I didn't care
so I took a big chance at the high school dance
with the miss who was ready to play
wasn't me she was fooling
cause she knew what she was doing
when she told me how to walk this way..... she told me to...

walk this way, talk this way
walk this way, talk this way
she told me to...
walk this way, talk this way
walk this way, talk this way
ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, owwwwwww ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow....

Find Me in These Fields by Phil Keaggy

Find me in these fields alone,
Crusted with the salt of my ways,
Rinse me with the motion of sweet water,
The silky rush of Your cleansing stream.

I turn my face towards the sun
Too feel the heat and cool wind blow.
Reminding me as I touch your shoulder
Awakening me from some selfish dream.

I face the fog in the Autumn,
The midnight moon weaving her chain.
You trace me deep in this valley
Repeating a familiar refrain, forgive me.

When my heart turns cold and I chased the old
Standard lie, forgive me.
When my consciense calls me to leave it behind,
Well did I, forgive me.

Take me in I'll sit at Your feet,
Live to tell all You have done,
Could I find a rose in mid-December,
A sign of peace for those passing by.

I turn my eyes toward the Son,
And a vision of a world yet to be,
When hope will be awarded living substance
And Heaven kisses Earth in reply.

Track 7 (couldn't find it on YouTube - the whole album is very good)

Just a man - made of blood and bone
Thrown away - all that was once my own

Old and worn - and tired too
Of cold so cold - and blue so blue

Endless love - washed away in the sand
Too much to lose - for just a man
In my time - never had my fill
Of broken hearts - for just a thrill

Letting my love - run through my hands
Too much to lose - for just a man

Don't put too many
Cards on this hard-headed man
Take whatever is yours
And get as far away as you can

No gret clouds - lined with silver and gold
No little boy - to watch me grow old

I play the game - as I know I can
So much to lose - for just a man

So much to ache - so much to break

"Five Feet High And Rising"

My mama always taught me that good things come from adversity if we put our faith in the Lord.
We couldn't see much good in the flood waters when they
were causing us to have to leave home,
But when the water went down, we found that it had washed a load of rich black bottom dirt across our land. The following year we had the best cotton crop we'd ever had.

I remember hearing:

How high's the water, mama?
Two feet high and risin'
How high's the water, papa?
Two feet high and risin'

We can make it to the road in a homemade boat
That's the only thing we got left that'll float
It's already over all the wheat and the oats,
Two feet high and risin'

How high's the water, mama?
Three feet high and risin'
How high's the water, papa?
Three feet high and risin'

Well, the hives are gone,
I've lost my bees
The chickens are sleepin'
In the willow trees
Cow's in water up past her knees,
Three feet high and risin'

How high's the water, mama?
Four feet high and risin'
How high's the water, papa?
Four feet high and risin'

Hey, come look through the window pane,
The bus is comin', gonna take us to the train
Looks like we'll be blessed with a little more rain,
4 feet high and risin'

How high's the water, mama?
Five feet high and risin'
How high's the water, papa?
Five feet high and risin'

Well, the rails are washed out north of town
We gotta head for higher ground
We can't come back till the water comes down,
Five feet high and risin'

Well, it's five feet high and risin'

David Hidalgo Rocks.

You were talking and I thought I heard you say
"Please leave me alone.
Nothing in this world can make me stay.
I'd rather go back, I'd rather go back home."

But if you believed in me like I believe in you,
We could have a love so true, we would go on endlessly.

[Chorus:]
And I know anyday, anyday, I will see you smile.
Any way, any way, only for a little while.

Well someday baby, I know you're gonna need me
When this old world has got you down.
I'll be right here, so woman call me
And I'll never ever let you down.

[Bridge]

[Chorus 2x]

To break the glass and twist the knife into yourself;
You've got to be a fool to understand.
To bring your woman back home after she's left you for another,
You've got to be a, you've got to be a man.

[Bridge]

[Chorus 2x]

Anyday, anyday, I will see you smile.
Any way, any way, just for a little, just for a little while.

I want to lay down beside you
I want to hold your body close to mine
Like a grape that grows ripe in the sunshine
There comes a time when we must sip the wine

I can tell by lookin' that you're not mine, girl
I believe everything I told you was true
There's a child here that wants to start livin'
And you know that this child will get its start
from me and you

(Close your eyes)
Close your eyes and don't you think of nothing
(Let your thoughts)
Let your thoughts remain here inside this room
(Lay your head)
Lay your head beside me on my pillow
And I will share this night with you

We must sip the wine ... till it feels alright
We must sip the wine ... into the night
We must sip the wine ... together
We must sip the wine
We must sip the wine
We must sip the wine

We must sip the wine
We must sip the wine
We must sip the wine
We must sip the wine
We must sip the wine

Stopped by a diner, and the blond behind the counter
Asked if she could help in any way
I could tell by her smile, her number I could dial
If I was in the need of company
I asked her for some Java
Instead she brought a cup of chickory

A taste of Java is like a volcanic rush
Nobody's gonna stop me from drinking too much
Costs many more than you care to pay
But money is nothin, compared to a fired-up day
Don't try to cheat, it's impossible to beat
The only pick-me-up that's here to stay

Java Blues... coffee's got me
Java Blues... coffee coffee coffee
Java Blues... well the coffee's got me
Java Blues... coffee coffee coffee

You know that I'll stay high
Drinkin coffee till I die
Java blues

Won't you boil me water, fill up my cup
You know it takes alot to keep me up
Down in Bolivia, the people are insane
They want as much for Java as they do for cocaine
Don't try to cheat, it's impossible to beat
The only pick-me-up that's here to stay

Java Blues... coffee's got me
Java Blues... coffee coffee coffee
Java Blues... you don't know what it does to me
Java Blues... coffee coffee coffee

You know that I'll stay high
Drinkin coffee till I die
Java Blues...

Over by the wild wood
Hot in the summer night
We lay in the tall grass
'Til the early mornin' light

If I had my way
I'd never get the urge to roam
But a young man serves his country
And an old man guards the home

Don't send me no sweet salutation
Or city silver near and far away
Don't leave me all alone here in the twilight
You know twilight is the loneliest time of day

Well, I never gave it a second thought

It never crossed my mind
What's right, what's not
I aint' the judgin' kind

I can take the darkness
Oh, storms flyingi n the skies
But we all got certain trials
Keep 'em burnin' up inside

Don't put me in a frame upon the mantel
For memories roll dusty, old and gray
Don't leave me alone in the twilight
'Cause twiilght is the loneliest time of day

Yes, it is

Damn damn damn James

[Pat Brown]
Dickie shorts & Lincoln's clean
leanin' checking out the scene
Gangsta boys Bigga's lit ridin' out talkin' ****
Nigga where you wanna go?
You know the club don't close 'til four
let's party 'til we can't no more
Watch out here come the folks

[Dre]
As the plot thickens it gives me the dickens
Reminiscent of Charles a li'l disco-tech
nestled in the ghettoes of Niggaville, USA
via Atlanta, Georgia a li'l spot where
young men & young women go to experience
they first li'l taste of the nightlife
Me? Well I've never been there, well perhaps once
But I was so engulfed in the Old "E"
I never made it to the door you speak of hard core
while the DJ sweatin' out all the problems
and the troubles of the day
While this fine bow-legged girl fine as all outdoors
lulls lukewarm lullabies in your left ear
competing with "Set it Off," in the right
But it all blends perfectly let the liquor tell it
"Hey hey look baby they playin' our song"
And the crowd goes wild as if
Holyfield has just won the fight
But in actuality it's only about 3 A.M.
and three niggas just don' got hauled
off in the ambulance [sliced up]
two niggas don' start bustin' [wham wham]
and one nigga don' took his shirt off talkin' 'bout
"Now who else wanna **** with Hollywood Court?"
It's just my interpretation of the situation

[Hook]

[Big Boi]
When I first met my SpottieOttieDopalicious Angel
I can remember that damn thing like yesterday
The way she moved reminded me of a Brown Stallion
horse with skates on smooth like a hot comb
on nappy *** hair
I walked up on her & was almost paralyzed
her neck was smelling sweeter
than a plate of yams with extra syrup
eyes beaming like four karats apiece just blindin' a nigga
felt like I chiefed a whole O of that Presidential
My heart was beating so damn fast
never knowing this moment would bring another
life into this world
Funny how **** come together sometimes [ya dig]
One moment you frequent the booty clubs &
the next four years you & somebody's daughter
raisin' y'all own young'n now that's a beautiful thang
that's if you're on top of your game
and man enough to handle real life situations [that is]
Can't gamble feeding baby on that dope money
might not always be sufficient but the
United Parcel Service & the people at the Post Office
didn't call you back because you had cloudy piss
So now you back in the trap just that, trapped
Go on and marinate on that for a minute
I'm so happy.
Cause today I found my friends.
They're in my head.
I'm so ugly.
But that's ok, cause so are you.
We've broke our mirrors.
Sunday morning.
Is everyday for all I care.
And I'm not scared.
Light my candles.
In a daze cause I've found God.

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah .....yeah !

I'm so lonely.
And that's ok.
I shaved my head.
And I'm not sad, and just maybe,
I'm to blame for all I've heard.
And I'm not sure.
I'm so excited.
I can't wait to meet you there.
And I don't care.
I'm so horny.
But that's ok..... My will is good.

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah......yeah!

I like it. I'm not gonna crack.
I miss you. I'm not gonna crack.
I love you. I'm not gonna crack.
I killed you. I'm not gonna crack.
I like it. I'm not gonna crack.
I miss you. I'm not gonna crack.
I love you. I'm not gonna crack.
I killed you. I'm not gonna crack.

I'm so happy.
Cause today I found my friends.
They're in my head.
I'm so ugly.

Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss - Whiskey Lullaby

Lyrics...

She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette
She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget
We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
Until the night

1st Chorus
He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away her memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I'll love her till I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby

(Sing lullaby)

The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
Until the night

2nd Chorus
She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

Way down yonder on the chattahoochee
It gets hotter than a hoochie coochie
We laid rubber on the georgie asphalt
We got a little crazy but we never got caught

Down by the river on a friday night
A pyramid of cans in the pale moonlight
Talking bout cars and dreaming bout women
Never had a plan just a livin for the minute
Yeah way down yonder on the chattahoochee
Never knew how much that muddy water meant to me
But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was
A lot about livin and a litttle bout love

Well we fooged up the windows in my old chevy
I was willing but she wasnt ready
So a settled for a burger and a grape sno-cone
Dropped her off early but I didnt go home

Down by the river on a friday night
A pyramid of cans in the pale moonlight
Talking bout cars and dreaming bout women
Never had a plan just a livin for the minute
Yeah way down yonder on the chattahoochee
Never knew how much that muddy water meant to me
But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was
A lot about livin and a litttle bout love

Way down yonder on the chattahoochee
It gets hotter than a hoochie coochie
We laid rubber on the georgie asphalt
We got a little crazy but we never got caught

Well we fooged up the windows in my old chevy
I was willing but she wasnt ready
So a settled for a burger and a grape sno-cone
Dropped her off early but I didnt go home

Down by the river on a friday night
A pyramid of cans in the pale moonlight
Talking bout cars and dreaming bout women
Never had a plan just a livin for the minute
Yeah way down yonder on the chattahoochee
Never knew how much that muddy water meant to me
But I learned how to swim and I learned who I was
A lot about livin and a litttle bout love

"It's Five O' Clock Somewhere"

The sun is hot and that old clock is movin' slow,
An' so am I.
Work day passes like molasses in wintertime,
But it's July.
I'm gettin' paid by the hour, an' older by the minute.
My boss just pushed me over the limit.
I'd like to call him somethin',
I think I'll just call it a day.

Pour me somethin' tall an' strong,
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane.
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere.

Oh, this lunch break is gonna take all afternoon,
An' half the night.
Tomorrow mornin', I know there'll be hell to pay,
Hey, but that's all right.
I ain't had a day off now in over a year.
Our Jamaican vacation's gonna start right here.
Hit the 'phones for me,
You can tell 'em I just sailed away.

An' pour me somethin' tall an' strong,
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane.
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere.

I could pay off my tab, pour myself in a cab,
An' be back to work before two.
At a moment like this, I can't help but wonder,
What would Jimmy Buffet do?

Funny you should ask that because I'd say:
Pour me somethin' tall an' strong,
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane.
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.

Pour me somethin' tall an' strong,
Make it a "Hurricane" before I go insane.
It's only half-past twelve but I don't care.
He don't care.
I don't care.
It's five o'clock somewhere.

What time zone am on? What country am I in?
It doesn't matter, it's five o'clock somewhere.
It's always on five in Margaritaville, come to think of it.
Yeah, I heard that.
You been there haven't you.
Yessir.
I seen your boat there.
I've been to Margaritaville a few times.
All right, that's good.
Stumbled all the way back.
OK. Just wanna make sure you can keep it between the navigational beacons.
Bring the booze, I tell you.
All right. Well, it's five o'clock. Let's go somewhere.
I'm ready, crank it up.
Let's get out of here.
I'm gone.
Let's get out of here.

Well I love her
But I love the fish
I spend all day out on this lake
And hell is all I catch
But today she met me at the door
Said I would have to choose
If I hit that fishin' hole today
She'd be packin' all her things and she'd
be gone by noon

Well I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
Right now I'm on this lakeshore
And I'm sittin' in the sun
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk through that door tonight
Ya I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite

Now there's a chance
If I hurry
I could beg her to stay
That water's right
And the weather's perfect
No tellin' what I might catch today

So I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
Right now I'm on this lakeshore
And I'm sittin' in the sun
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk throught that door tonight
Ya I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, another bite.

Ya I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite.

He said I'll love you 'til I die
She told him you'll forget in time
As the years went slowly by
She still preyed upon his mind

He kept her picture on his wall
Went half crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all
Hoping she'd come back again

Kept some letters by his bed
Dated 1962
He had underlined in red
Every single I love you

I went to see him just today
Oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away
First time I'd seen him smile in years

(Chorus)
He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
He stopped loving her today

(Spoken)
You know she came to see him one last time
Oh and we all wondered if she would
And it kept running through my mind
This time he's over her for good

SHIFT WORK (Kenny Chesney Duet With George Strait )

Shiftwork
Kenny Chesney
Shift work, hard work, tired body
In a blue-collar shirt and a baseball cap
union made
He's hot, sweat drops, 'round the clock
Door never locks
And noise never stops
Not all day
Working seven to three
Three to eleven
Eleven to seven

Shift work, tough work for the busy convenience store clerk
Two feet that hurt, going insane
She's mad at some lad
Drove off and didn't pay for his gas and he won't be the last 'round the clock pain
Working seven to three
Three to eleven
Eleven to seven

I`m talking about a bunch of shiftwork
A big ol' pile of shiftwork
Seven to three
Three to eleven
Eleven to seven

Well I worked, shiftwork,
Ten years man, I hated that work
Then I made a break with the money I saved
It took me to the beach to have a beer by the edge of the sea
And this 'round a clock place
I drank my money away
We partied
Seven to three
Three to eleven
Eleven to seven

I`m talking `bout a bunch of shiftwork
A big ol' pile of shiftwork
Seven to three
Three to eleven
Eleven to seven

[instrumental interlude]

Talking `bout a bunch of shiftwork
A big ol' pile of shiftwork
Seven to three
Three to eleven
Eleven to seven

Well, excuse me, but I think you've got my chair.
No, that one's not taken, I don't mind
If you sit here, I'll be glad to share.
Yeah, it's usually packed here on Friday nights.

Oh, if you don't mind, could I talk you out of a light.
Well, thank you, could I drink you a buy?
Oh, listen to me, what I mean is can I buy you a drink?
Anything you please.

Oh, you're welcome, well, I don't think I caught your name.
Are you waiting for someone to meet you here?
Well, that makes two of us glad you came.

No, I don't know the name of the band, but they're good.
Aren't they, would you like to dance?
Yeah, I like the song too, it reminds me of you and me.
Baby do you think there's a chance
That later on I could drive you home?

No, I don't mind at all.
Oh, I like you too, and to tell you the truth
That wasn't my chair after all.
Oh, I like you too, and to tell you the truth
That wasn't my chair after all.

Remember when I was young so were you
time stood still love was all we knew
You were the first, so was I
made love and then you cried
Remember when
Remember when we vowed the vows walked the walk
Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard
lived and learned, life threw curves
There was joy, there was hurt
Remember when

Remember when old ones died new were born
life was changed, disassembled, rearranged
We came together, fell apart
broke each other's hearts
Remember when

Remember when the sound of little feet was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are, where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when

Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when

Remember when
Remember when

"Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)"

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Working on some stage in LA
Did you stand there in shock at the site of
That black smoke rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger
In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below

Did you burst out in pride
For the red white and blue
The heroes who died just doing what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself to what really matters

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Speak with some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

The greatest is love
The greatest is love

My name is mud
Not to be confused with bill or jack or pete or dennis
My name is mud and its always been
cause Im the most boring sons-a-bitch youve ever seen
I dress in blue-yes navy blue
From head to toe Im rather drab except my patent shoes
I make em shine, well most the time
cept today my feet are troddin on by this friend of mine
Six foort two and rude as hell
I got to get him in the ground before he starts to smell
My name is mud

My name is mud, but call me alowishus devadander abercrombie
Thats long for mud so Ive been told
Told that by this sonsabitch that lies before me bloated blue and cold
Ive got my pride, I drink my wine
Id drink the finest except I havent earned a dime in several months
Or were it years
The breath on that fat bastard could bring any man to tears
We had our words, a common spat
So I kissed him upside the cranium with an aluminum baseball bat
My name is mud

Well I love her
But I love the fish
I spend all day out on this lake
And hell is all I catch
But today she met me at the door
Said I would have to choose
If I hit that fishin' hole today
She'd be packin' all her things and she'd
be gone by noon

Well I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
Right now I'm on this lakeshore
And I'm sittin' in the sun
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk through that door tonight
Ya I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite

Now there's a chance
If I hurry
I could beg her to stay
That water's right
And the weather's perfect
No tellin' what I might catch today

So I'm gonna miss her
When I get home
Right now I'm on this lakeshore
And I'm sittin' in the sun
I'm sure it'll hit me
When I walk throught that door tonight
Ya I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, another bite.

Ya I'm gonna miss her
Oh, lookie there, I've got a bite.

She is terminally cute.

Yep. I don't think I would go fishin'.
Country music singers
have always been a real close family
but lately some of my kin folks
have disowned a few others and me
i guess it's because
i kinda changed my direction
Lord, i guess i went and broke their family tradition

they get on me...wanna know Hank
why do you drink? (to get drunk)
Hank, why do you roll smoke? (to get stoned)
Why must you live out the songs that you wrote? (to get laid)
over and over
everybody made my prediction
so if i get stoned
I'm just carrying
on an old family tradition

I am very proud
of my daddy's name
although his kinda music
and mine ain't exactly the same
stop and think it over
put yourself in my position
if i get stoned and sing all night long
it's a family tradition

Don't ask me Hank
why do you drink? (to get drunk)
Hank, why do you roll smoke? (to get stoned)
Why must you live out the songs that you wrote? (to get laid)
If I'm down in a Honky-Tonk
Some ol' slicks trying to give me friction
I'll say leave me alone
I'm singing all night long
it's a family tradition

Lordy, I have loved some ladies
and I have loved Jim Beam
and they both tried to kill me....
in 1973
when that doctor asked me...
Son, how did you get in this condition?
I said hey sawbones I'm just carrying on...
an old family tradition

So don't ask me Hank
why do you drink? (to get drunk)
Hank, why do you roll smoke? (to get stoned)
Why must you live out the songs you wrote? (to get laid)
Stop and think it over
Try and put yourself in my unique position
If I get stoned and sing all night long
It's a family tradition!

Whos this guitar-playing sonsa bitch? , is a question common asked.
On his head a bucket of chicken bones, on his face a plaster mask.
Hes the bastard son of a preacher man, on the town he left a stain.
They made him live in a chicken house to try to and hide the shame.

He was born in a coop, raised in a cage. children fear him, critics rage.
Hes half alive, hes half dead. folks just call him buckethead.

Farmers would torment him as he snuggled with the hens.
Theyd hose him down with water, and steal his little friends.
Now late at night hed sneak off to the graveyard all alone,
And play a soapbox guitar to the faces made of stone.

Buckethead found his freedom at the age of 17,
When he burned the chicked house down with a quart of gasoline.
He did puppet shows on corners and bought a real guitar,
And with the help of colonel sanders, hes bound to be a star.

He was born in a coop, raised in a cage. children fear him, critics rage.
Hes half alive, hes half dead. folks just call him buckethead.

Yep. I don't think I would go fishin'.

I might try to get my hook wet though.

Concrete steps, never swept
It used to be fear, now they call it respect
Sad old walls fallin' down
On the shattered skulls in the battleground
Absent fathers, weary mums
The old, the sick, the dying
And the isolated ones
Ancient language turns obscene
Between the goal posts of a circular dream

Nothin' matters anymore
The rich get richer, and the poor get sorer
This house is haunted and the streets are dead
We're all the mercy of shrunken heads

Bells are ringing of a cleaner time
There ain't no washing hangin' out on the line anymore
Something died and I don't know when
But it's funkier now that it ever was then

Nothin' matters anymore
The rich get richer, and the poor get sorer
The heart of the city is dilapidated
Who's gonna save us from these shrunken heads

On a windy day where no one smiles
On a pleasureless beach on a go-go-golden mile
In a sad café eating day old bread
And I tip the angry actress
With pockets full of shrunken heads

Windows barred, exhausted dull
The smell of decay is miserable
Dangerous streets where the dealers rule
Lie litter strewn around a frozen school

Nothin' matters anymore
The rich get richer, and the poor get sorer
You took our loyalty and you tore it to shreds
We're all the mercy of shrunken heads
Nothing matters anymore
The rich get richer, and the poor stay sorer
And the heart of the city is red-carpeted
Freaks of nature, shrunken heads
Shrunken heads decide my fate
It used to be 10, now it's 10:08
We ain't got the answers, it's complicated
I wouldn't bet any money on shrunken heads
It was all.... that I could do....... to keep from crying
Sometimes it seems so useless to remain
You don't have to call me darling, darling
You never even call me by my name

You don't have to call me Waylon Jennings
And you don't have to call me Charlie Pride
You don't have to call me Merle Haggard, anymore
Even though your on my fighting side

And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing in the rain
You don't have to call me darling, darling
You never even call me by my name

Well, I've heard my name a few times in your phone book
And I've seen it on signs where I've played
But the only time I know..... I'll hear David Allan Coe
Is when Jesus has His final judgement day.

So...I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing in the rain
You don't have to call me darling, darling
You never even call me by my name

Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
and he told me it was the perfect country and western song.
I wrote him back a letter and told him it was not the perfect
country and western song because he hadn't said anything about
Momma, or trains, or trucks, or prison, or getting drunk.

Well, he sat down and wrote another verse to the song and he sent
it to me and after reading it, I realized that my friend had written
the perfect country and western song. And I felt obliged to include it
on this album.

The last verse goes like this here:

Well, I was drunk..... the day my Mom..... got outta prison
And I went.... to pick her up..... in the rain
But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train !!!!

And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standing in the rain......no
You don't have to call me darling, darling
You never even call me, well I wonder why you don't call me
Why don't you ever call me by my name

Lyrics to come once they are posted
Maybe we can sing this in the next year or two-

San Francisco, where the flowers bloom in spring
I said, fade to winter - and see what disease brings
Augustino, with his eyes once a shining sea
I said he's half a shadow - God don't let that be me
I'm a Stardog Champion
West Virginia, that's where my father lies
He was a wartime hero, the kind that money buys
It's a diamond bracelet, for my mommy's memory
That's all she wrote boy - that's all she wrote for me
I'm a Stardog Champion
I'm a Stardog
That's right
And the children
They used to sing of love
With Grace
From the Lord above
I said the children they used to sing out loud
Sing it loud

My idle hands-
There's nothing I can do
But be the Devil's plaything, baby
And know that I've been used

Her lips are cold
They suffer me
They drag me under, baby
Into your suffering

Let your hands
Do what they will do
Stand inside
Make your Maker's move
And your eyes don't look the same
They seem enervated, in denial
Cast like stones-
Like you been rode for miles

My eyes have seen
They have been shown
This is an Occupation
To Stand alone
I suffer you-
You suffer me
We are the Devil's plaything
Into this Reckoning

Don't turn away, you haven't yet awakened
Why don't you stay, remember what you said
Ten thousand miles and everyone's mistaken
Look where you've been
Where every woman's wasted

All the while you've been sleeping
Drifting on a wind never blown
Tomorrow you'll wake up aching
Wondering how, when no one really knows

Don't speak a word of all that you've been saving
If there isn't time then you should let it go
Into the fire and bring back all you've taken
Once more alone you'll never let it show

All the while you've been sleeping
Drifting on a wind never blown
Tomorrow you'll wake up aching
Wondering how, when no one really knows
Now what have I done wrong
Can't you tell me what have I done wrong
Baby tell me what have I done wrong

Don't walk away, you haven't yet awakened
Why don't you stay, remember what you said
Ten thousand miles, and everyone's mistaken
Look where you've been
Where every woman's wasted

All the while you've been sleeping
Drifting on a wind never blown
Tomorrow you'll wake up aching
Wondering how, when no one really knows
Now what have I done wrong
Can't you tell me what have I done wrong
Baby tell me what have I done wrong
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me now
Has anyone heard this one before? KRB???? Anyways, the lead singer looks like a serial killer. I believe this was considered punk rock, and it's from the 80's obviously by looking at the guitar player. 03-lol

Here's some red hot chili peppers before they went mainstream.

Get up and jump, get up and jump, get up, get up, get up and jump
Jump on up
Jump on down
Just jump a jump a jump a jump a jump around
Jump the day away
Jump all over town
'cos jumpin' is O.K. in a jumpin' kinda way, hey hey!

Jump a boy
Jump a girl
Jump a rope
Jump for joy
Just don't stop jumpin'
Keep your heart muscle pumpin'
Hillel be jumpin' on that little baby frumpkin
Say what, You got a pumpkin in your pants?

When you're just standing or sitting still
Think about the frogs gettin' a thrill
Take a little lesson from the kangaroos
Don't you know they're jumpin' fools, jump you!

Jump a nun
Jump a Jack
Jump for fun
Jump back
How's about us jumpin' in the sack?
And now, it's time for a jump attack

Get up and jump (X8)

Jama Boba, Jima Boba, Slima Boba Boogie
To the tune of slima Billy
Lookin' like you're mighty silly
Say what, You got a pumpkin in your pants?
Say what, You got a pumpkin in your pants?

Mister Mexican jumpin' bean knows
His fun is skeaky clean
Christ, how'd ya think that he got so clean?
Not from sittin' on his g*****n spleen. Get up!

Oh, I be jumpin' I be jumpin' I be jumpin' alone
I be jumpin' for the phone
I be jumpin' Misses Jones
I really wanna jump on Kinski's bones

Get up and jump (X8)

Get up and jump (X8)

Jama Boba, Jima Boba, Slima Boba Boogie
To the tune of slima Billy
Lookin' like you're mighty silly
Say what, You got a pumpkin in your pants?
Say what, You got a pumpkin in your pants?

Oh yeah, the red hot chili peppers also had this classic before going mainstream. 03-lol

Hoo, Lord!

Well, I'm gonna ride a sabertooth horse
Through the Hollywood hills
The farther west, the farther out
Yeah, that's the way I feel

Well, I dig the dirt and I dig the dust
I barbecue my meals
Riding wild on a paisley dragon
Through the Hollywood hills, yeah...
Huh, Hollywood hills

Well, I'm gonna ride a sabertooth horse
Through the Hollywood hills
Just don't show me anything
Cause that's the way I feel

Well, I dig the dirt and I dig the dust
I barbecue my meals
Riding wild on a paisley dragon
Through the Hollywood hills, yeah...
Huh, Hollywood hills

Passion dripping from the coyote's eyes
He can taste his blood
And blood never lies
Pale face die

True men don't...... kill coyotes
True men don't...... kill coyotes

At least the red hot chili peppers got better later on, though "get up and jump" wasn't that bad.

Tmoney, the name is familiar. The bass player/Singer, looks like Moby. When he had hair. I do know this though, you never get tired of Primates playing the pan flute. Maybe that is Zamfir's monkey. I'll have to check out some stuff. Vaguely familiar.
I can tell ya why it was vaguely familar. I have one Peter Murphy album. I think it is called "Deep" I just remember it was fairly good. I will have to search for it, to check it out again now. There is probably some Youtube stuff on him. That's all I have. I just remember the name Peter Murphy.

I had no clue who any of them were, but i just remember that song for some reason from way back.
Lady luck never smiles
So lend your love to me awhile
Do with me what you will
Break the spell, take your fill
On and on we rode the storm
The flame has died and the fire has gone
Oh, this empty bed is a night alone
I realized that long ago

Is anybody out there? anybody there?
Does anybody wonder? Oo woah... anybody care?

Oh, I just gotta know
If you're really there, and you really care
Cause baby I'm not....

F-F-F-fooling, ah F-F-fooling
F-F-F-fooling, ah F-F-fooling
Won't you stay with me awhile?
Ohwowowoooah

Close your eyes, don't run and hide
Easy love is an easy ride
Just waking up from what we had
Could stop good love from going bad

Is anybody out there? anybody there?
Does anybody wonder? ooo whoh.... anybody care?

Oh, I just gotta know
If you're really there and you really care
Cause baby I'm not....

F-F-F-fooling, ah F-F-fooling
F-F-F-fooling, ah F-F-fooling
Ow

Ah, ah, ah, ah, owwww!

Oh, I just gotta know

Cause baby I'm not...

F-F-F-fooling, ah F-F-fooling
NOT..... F-F-F-fooling

Oh no, I'm not fooling myself
I'm not fooling myself
No, no, no
I'm not fooling myself
Oh, no, no
I'm not fooling myself
I'm not fooling...
I'm not fooling myself
No....
I'm really not F-F-F-fooling. 03-lol
Listening to Dave Matthews Band Live @ Piedmont Park...One of my favorites...

Two Step

Say, my love, I came to you
With best intentions
You laid down and gave to me just what
Im seeking
Love, you drive me to distraction

Hey my love do you believe that we
Might last a thousand years
Or more if not for this?
Our flesh and blood it ties
You and me right up
Tie me down

Celebrate we will
Because life is short but sweet for certain
Were climbing two by two
To be sure these days continue,
These things we cannot change

Hey, my love, you came to me like
Wine comes to this mouth
Grown tired of water all the time
You quench my heart and you
Quench my mind

Celebrate we will
Because life is short but sweet for certain
Were climbing two by two
To be sure these days continue,
The things we cannot

Celebrate, you and me, climbing
Two by two, to be sure
These days continue, things we cannot change

Oh, my love, I came to you
With best intentions
You laid down and gave to me just what
Im seeking

Celebrate we will
Because life is short but sweet for certain
Were climbing two by two
To be sure these days continue,
Things we cannot change...
Things we cannot change

A smoke, a long black cadillac,
the engine's winding down.
He'd park it up on the sidewalk
like he owned the whole damn town.
I'd hear him talkin' to some chick
through a thick ghost of smoke,
through a thicker haze of Southern Comfort and coke,

say, Girl you're hotter than a hinge
hangin' off the gates of hell.
Don't be afraid to turn to me,
babe, if he don't treat you well,
and by he he meant me,
so I laughed and I shook his hand.
He'd laugh a little bit louder as he'd
yell up at the band:

Play a train song,
pour me one more round,
make 'em leave my boots on when they lay me into the ground.
I am a runaway locomotive,
outta my one track mind,
and I'm lookin' for any kinda trouble that I can find

I got this old black leather jacket
I got this pack of Marlboro Reds
I got this stash here in my pocket
I got these thoughts in my own head
the right to run until I gotta walk
or until I got to crawl
this moment that I'm in right now and nothing else at all

Play a train song,
pour me one more round,
make 'em leave my boots on when they lay me into the ground.
I am a runaway locomotive,
outta my one track mind.

In the television blizzard lights
I looked around this place.
I found a cold beer on the sofa,
a little smile across his face,
and though I tried with all of my sadness,
somehow I could not just weep
for a man who looked to me like he died laughin' in his sleep,
sayin' a train song,
drinkin' one last round.
We made 'em leave his boots on on the day they layed him down.
He was a runaway locomotive
out of his one track mind.

Play a train song
Play a train song
Play a train song
