I don't think he is impartial on this. I know the 95% number he MADE UP isn't true. You know it. He knows it. And yet he said said it. That is not impartial. That is fanning the flames. He is making things up just as he says the "95%" of this board does. He is throwing stones at a glass house, at least concerning this subject. He is getting some nasty emails from some posters (not cool) on this board and he doesn't like it and so he lumps everyone together.
I was the first intern ever at 730 am, back when they were espn. I met Gary and helped produce a few shows with him. I can tell you, he's a complete douche bag. I hated him because he's a "better than thou" kinda guy. I do not like him as a person...period.
He's married, and there were numerous times I heard him talk about banging this and hittin that. He's a SCUMBAG. he really is. Some people might wanna jump down me for putting this out, but it is what it is. Gary P is a punk.

99% of the people on this board get their information FROM this board. VERY VERY few people actually provide "inside" info, most here are "takers" not "givers".
Look at any past thread that "speculates" something and you will see that many people had no clue what was really happening. Hell, look at the coaching search..not one person on this board really had any clue that Memphis was hiring Pastner. People were still debating Theus vs. Avery Johnson.
Look at the Bledsoe threads. As of Monday, many of the popular posters were posting that Bledsoe was going to be a Tiger.
Heck, half of the posters here still think "Taggert" might come back.

So again, why chose Kentucky over Memphis? Well here is the quick answer. Bledsoe never really considered coming to Memphis in the first place. It had always been his dream as a kid to play basketball in the SEC. When I asked Bledsoe if Coach Cal had still been in Memphis would he be a Tiger he said "probably not." Next question If coach Cal had remained at Memphis would you still have gone to Kentucky? Answer, "no, I think I would have gone to Florida." Which means Calipari wasn't enough to get Bledsoe to come to Kentucky it was the school, the tradition and the conference.

just realized I was participating in a thread hijacking, so I'll throw this in:
Gary has more connections than MOST here. That is not because of who HE is, it is because of the JOB he has.
As for KNOWING the SPORT, there are MANY here who understand it as well as he does, and quite a few who know it better. When he gets on his high horse is when I feel the need to point out his credentials as a BASKETBALL EXPERT. When he decides to come across that way, he deserves to be brought back to earth.
I don't know him and he may be a good guy, but when he acts like a condescending heel in his public treatment of the fanbase, (and he doesn't do that all the time but does sometimes), then the response is predictable. I actually think it may be intentional as part of a schtick to get reaction for the sake of increased numbers for advertisers. But nevertheless, if you act like a heel, people will think of you as a heel.

Kids do not grow up thinking about playing SEC basketball. No question that kids used to grow up wanting to play for Memphis purchasers...and there is likely some sentiment from kids that want to play at Arkansas. Beyond that...it is complete utter self serving BS by that blogger.
Perhaps Bledsoe wanted to play at a ky or at Florida (they did win back to back titles just a few years ago and Gainesville is an awesome place) but basketball playing kids view Memphis well ahead of the bulk of the SEC.
Kids grow up wanting to play football in the SEC- yes.
Basketball dreams? ACC, Big East, Memphis, Kansas and UCLA.
