I know baseball is a marathon, and not a sprint, but what a great first month by the Cardinals! Pujols putting up MVP type numbers, the hitting is going great, the defense is holding up. The only real issue, Cardinals pitching, for the most part is doing well, minus the problems in the first week. I don't know how will the season end, but I feel a National League Central Divison title is possible. I know the Cards lost yesterday, but overall, so far so good. Go Cards!
I usually have baseball as my least priority when it comes to sports... But with both my teams being at the top of their respective leagues, things are looking great. Go RedSox! Go Cards!

Pitching, especially from 7th inning to closing, has been STL's nemesis for a while. Is Duncan still their pitching coach? Haven't followed them for a couple of years.

Duncan is still the pitching coach of the Saint Louis Cardinals, as well as Tony LaRussa their manager. Despite their at times their questionable use of the pitching staff during key situations of the game, somehow the Cards are in first place.
The bullpen seems to be a major improvement over last year.Franklin has been 7 for 7 in save situations & the young relievers are doing well in middle relief. The offense is very solid so I think they'll win most of the 12-10 type games. The starting pitching staff is doing very well even without Chris Carpenter so keep your fingers crossed.I still think it'll come down to the Cardinals & Cubs for the division.
It's looking real good! Maybe we should go post on the Yankees thread, about how much they suck?

Yep. When it comes to the Yankees, I'm a kinder, gentler, unashamed full fledged hater. 03-lmfao

Grew up in St. Louis area, so I cut my teeth at the ball park and am a STL Cardinals fan. Sportsman's Park, the old Busch Stadium. Haven't been to the new one though, and haven't followed that closely the past couple of years. Good to see they're in first place, for now.

I raze New York Yankees fans that live here in Memphis, enough, along with the New York Mets fans. I am not going to another messageboard of a team I don't support to give them a hard time, just only in person. That's how I roll.
The cards have a great team this year! I hope they keep it up! Go Cards!
Dave Duncan is an absolute genius as far as pitching coaches come...bad fn ***

Go Cards!

Move here, you would be too...
Hats off to TLR.
Who woulda thunk a former pitcher is in the outfield, an outfielder is at second, and a former catcher has the hottest fastball in relief.
Kahlil's bat will heat up and things will start rolling.
When Yaddi has the green light to steal, those guys have to be having fun. And I love Oquendo in the box at third. Aggressive base running is so fun to watch.
My son (19 years old) got to see Oquendo bat in the Saturday exhibition here. Made me happy.
The imprint of Ankiel's face in the outfield padding is probably just now fading.
Kid had stones.

04-cheers The Cardinals team I was introduced to never stopped running--Ozzie, Coleman, Herr, McGee, Pendleton, and Ford. Even Oquendo & Pena would take a base now and then.
