Cano normally starts off slow but he played in the World Baseball classic which is the equivalent of his normal April...So he should be ready to roll. Also, I heard while I was in NYC, that Cano and Melky went out and partied too much last season which is why they were down last year. Someone got to them and straightened them out and look at them now. Of course, trade talks didn't hurt either...lol
Party less, win more. I don't care as long as we are winning. They can party in the offseason.

You were supposed to put on your rally cap.
yeah, you can leave your hat on! oh well, I guess the Yanks cant win em all. 144-18 sound good enough?? lol
Tex hit a monster HR into the suites in RF. Almost into the upper deck.
Since the game is on FOX today, do you think it will be shown in the Memphis market?
Its on. I think it is the only game FOX is showing nationwide today. While I hate suffering through boring Cards, Cubs, and Braves games on FOX when the rest of the civilized world is watching Yankees/ Red Sox... I do take comfort knowing that in October FOX 13 is forced to show the Yankees when STL, CHC, and ATL are no where to be found.
11-1 Woohoo!!

ARod's 5 for 5 raised his batting avg 70 points

Joba needs to be in the pen!!!
He can't even pitch 5 innings and then we are in the pen.
I agree with one of the guys on ESPN. Joba is trying to save his pitches to last 5-6 innings and isn't aggressive enough to be a starter. You have to come out aggressive as a starting pitcher. He is an average starter but he was an incredible reliever. The Yanks start out in the hole in the first inning every time he pitches.
Please put him back in the pen where he belongs!! This is baseball not rocket science!!!!

Patience Kat... I watched a few minutes of the game last night (a rare non cable game) and I have to say that the whole reason is that Joba can DEVELOP into a top of the line starter. Even though it is a tough hill to climb, an ace or number two is worth a lot more than even a top rated reliever.
Give him time, show patience. He'll be an actual home grown member of the evil empire you can be proud of...
I have to disagree. I've watched joba as both and he more needed as a great reliever than a starter. Every game he puts the Yankees in the hole. You don't need a starter that causes you to start behind for every game he pitches. Jeter has three hits tonight already. Way to go babe!

1. He ain't there yet, but he has 3 high plus pitches. He projects to a 2/3 starter AT WORST. They have to keep him as a starter. 200 IP from Joba beats 60 IP from Joba...
2. Jeter has three hits and yet still has herpes.
3. May John Vincent Calipari burn in hell.

1. He ain't ever going to be there. He isn't aggressive enough to be a starter because he is worried about lasting. He was aggressive as hell when he was a reliever. the best starting pitchers always come out aggressive. You never put your offense in the hole in the first inning. He projects to be but reality, he is a 5th starter at best. And right now, I would rather him save the other starting pitchers wins than lose those because the pen is gives it up than know I have a pitcher that will put us in the hole in the first inning everytime.
2. He is 129 hits from tying Lou Gehrig and I would still do him.
3. And I totally agree.

1. He will last once he builds up his arm strength. As you note he had an aggressive makeup as a reliever. That will develop as his arm strength gets better. His problem isn't stuff or makeup, it's endurance. It will build up as he gets more IPs. He's been on strict pitch counts for the first few years, and getting these IPs will get his arm up to speed.
2. Just make him wear a condom, or two...
3. $#%@ Cal.

3. yep...
4. Yankees tied for first in the AL East...Season never over in April...
Jeter already has two hits and it is only the second inning. He is definitely on pace to pass Lou Gehrig as the Yankees all time hits leader this season. I might have to figure out the road trip to witness it!!
well, well, well....... look who is sitting all alone in 1st in the AL East. Order has been restored in the baseball world. I was right when I said the pitching would get better and the team would start winning when that Rodriguez guy came back. Now Posada is back and Nady is on the way to get Swisher out of RF. No holes in the lineup whatsoever. Yanks will be leading by 5 or 6 games in late July.
Yanks lost but Jeter had another two hits today. He should have had 3 hits as he was robbed. He beat the throw by a foot.
Oh well....Just keep hitting baby!!!
It's about time order was restored.
Joba pitched pretty well tonite. Dont know if you saw his diving catch that he turned into a DP, but it was awesome! Yankees picked up a 1/2 on the rest of the AL East tonite. 5 -2 on the road trip and now going back home - 13 of next 16 in the Bronx (other 3 in Boston). Time to put some distance between us and them.

Joba actually came out aggressive last night for a change and didn't put them in the hole in the first inning. That diving catch was great.
I liked watching the birds in the outfield. And Jeter had his 2600th hit last night. Go Baby!!!

Yankees up 9-3 top of the 5th. Jeter already has two hits in this game. He is on fire!! Can't tell he is going to be 35 on June 26th!!
Go JeterBaby!!!
Woohoo!!! Jeter is now 3 for 3!!
Tex has been hit twice. Man he was pissed. I loved the way he wiped out the SS to break up that double play and keep the inning alive. This team is so much fun to watch. All around good baseball like it was from 1996-2004.
I'm glad we are playing baseball again. Kitten isnt' bad, just a yankees fan.

didnt mean it in a bad way. Kitten just needs a spanking from Jeter. hahahahaha!
Oh I knew how you meant it. I was just doing my normal pot stirring. You have to keep your eye on her. She is mischevious.

Boy do I ever...

Yankees rained out tonight. sigh...
yeah, instead of watching the Yankees, I am doing the next best thing - watching the BloSox get beat! Maybe we'll have 1st place again to ourselves w/out playing.
As long as the Red Sux lose. I'm happy.
another come from behind win today. 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th to erase a 3-1 deficit. that makes 20 so far this year. 1/2 a game up on Red Sux so they need to get tomorrow nite's game so we'll be 1 up going to Boston. pitching matchups-- tue-burnett/ beckett wed- wang/wakefield thur- cc/ penny
Jeter's girlfriend must have been at the game. I've come to the conclusion that his batting sucks when she is around. He is 1-8 for this weekend. He was doing great before that. So I'm assuming she is around. She should be banned from the ball park.
Of course, I basing this on when I've seen her at the game and him going hitless and being distracted at home plate because of her.
ESPN game tomorrow night!! Woohoo!!
kitten- she must be gone from NY tonite. Jeter has played a great game in the field and now hits a HR for ya!

And I totally screwed up my VCR and didn't get the game on tape to be able to watch again. It was an incredible game.
At first I was thinking she was there because he was 0-3 then he hit the HR, so I knew she wasn't there. lol
