Doesn't seem like it to me- but, of course, I haven't seen any of these kids yet. Doesn't seem like we've signed an athletic guard, who can both take it to the basket and shoot it from the outside. I guess those type players don't stay here too long anyway. It may well be that the guys we signed are much more appropriate for Steve's system- tough defense and "grinder ball" as DI has coined it.

You can bet on it. You can bet he didn't sign any guys that can shoot the lights out. If they knew ahead of time what kind of offense we play, they'll not consider us if they can shoot. Scorers want to score, and they can't do that here. Another year of mediocrity, that is, if we're lucky.

I am really, really, really, hoping that you are wrong. The problem is, I think there is a possibility that you may be right. Please, please, let our offense look better next year than it did this year!

We're in big trouble if we don't run a better offense. Who do we have that can create their own shot? Stevee was the only one last year, except for maybe Edwards and he's gone as well. European players typically thrive in a well run offense, like Belmont ran here a couple of years back. We have a ways to go to get there.

Bozeman will be the closest thing we have to Stevie, and I think he'll make better decisions. Plus I don't think he'll hog the ball like Stevie did at times.

DI, I hope you are right about Bozeman. I have never seen him play, so I don't have a clue. His numbers at USF suggest he is not a very good shooter, but maybe he has improved on that. Is he really as quick and athletic as Stevee?
Garcia-Mendoza shot 109 FT's, second on the team. So, hopefully he can create his own shots.

He is not quite as quick as Stevie, but he moves well, and he's pretty smooth in his movements which probably disquises whatever quickness he has. He should be able to shoot well enough to keep the defense honest. But if he can penetrate and is willing to dish to the wings, we'll be allright. That was Stevie's problem. He would penetrate, but wouldn't kick it out to the open shooters on the wings most of the time.
Wimp mentioned it in every telecast he did. He'd always talk about penetrating too far under the basket. Or into the trees. He'd say that you can't get right against the tree and shoot. You need to stop three or four feet away and shoot over them. Interesting that our coaches either never realized that problem, or couldn't get Stevie to stop doing it.

I hope Bozeman will be that guy...we all know what happens to our offense when we don't have a player that can create and make things happen. If we still are not going to set screens on a consistent basis, we will need some people that can drive.
