Slow your roll buddy.... You want him to just go grab the first guys available? If he had done that we would have Tang right now, by most accounts this would be a raw deal.
He has a lot going on, in a tough situation, so it is going to take time, but is not going to help the situation hiring the wrong guys.

Like others have said in many other threads, until April 15th, any potential assistant can do their own recruiting for him. Look for him to pull the trigger in the next few days. During this "dead" period, there is no benefit to rush and get them.

Dude, he had no idea he was going to be the coach. NO IDEA. He was called out of the blue and offered the job. He took it and is starting, literally from scratch. You need to be patient and cut him some slack.

now, please, don't anybody get mad at what i'm going to ask. it's just a question. do you think that it might be more difficult for him to hire assistant coaches due to his age? my sister owns a business and is 31. i know that sometimes she has a hard time hiring due to the age factor. we all know that josh is great, but do you think that some assistants feel like they should be a head coach over josh due to experience/age factor? just asking....

trust me he will hire some good guys I think he knows what hes doing

I would rather see him take his time and get the right personnel that will be loyal and hard working than see someone come in and under mind him for their own personal agendas.

Headlines like this are not very constructive! Lets all be patient next season is a long way off. Tiger basketball is here to stay.

Josh Pastner knows better than anyone on here that it's been barely 1,068,800 seconds since he was announced as the new coach of the Memphis Tigers. I'd bet my retirement nest egg he hasn't wasted one of those on something which will not better this program.
I've wasted :75 just correcting a typo.

and you can be signing players just to be signing them...I have a feeling Pastner KNOWS what he wants in an asst. coach/coaches...and the same with players...GIVE THE GUY SOMETIME..We aren't gonna hire a few coaches and save these BIG NAME RECRUITS...Let him take his time..He looks to me like he has a PLAN in what he wants...Why hire a coach or sign a player that ISN"T up to what he wants at Memphis...If we get Coleman and Dodson we will be fine...if we don't we STILL will be fine..This kid hasn't been on the job but what a little over a WEEK...Brick by Brick my son..Brick by Brick...

We don't need to hire someone to hire someone.
Also, wouldn't it behoove the university to hold the official hire date so the new coaches can communicate with recruits more openly in the short-term.
