that none of these big time coaches are beating their door down to take the job. I guess they feel like they're a program equal to Kentucky and North Carolina, and they have had great success the past few years, but reality must be setting in. Of course whomever they hire will be the one they wanted all along. We know that, don't we.01-lauramac2

I don't know about all of them, but I have a friend who is a season ticket holder. He didn't come into the fold under Calipari, he came in when Larry Finch was the head coach, and they weren't all that great a lot of the time .

All he told me was, "hey it's been a great nine years. We'll most likely never see Memphis again as successful as it was under Calipari."

I asked him if it was Calipari's recruiting that was the key, and he replied, "Calipari is a good recruiter, but doesn't actually do that much of the recruiting, but he has two assistants who are great recruiters. Calipari is great at closing the deal." I thought he was very realistic, and he didn't seem all that upset with Calipari leaving. Said "he didn't blame him at all, and that with the success he'd had, he knew it was coming."
That's what most every mid-major hopes for. Be sucessful enough that the coach moves on to bigger opportunities.

He said this also, "under Cal we could play with most anyone the last few years. Now we're going to be in there with the rest of the mid-majors."
