Drains the university of funds that we could use to entice a new coach.
What you guys seem to fail to realize is that there ARE NO UNIVERSITY FUNDS.

I know this. There are 1,000 jobs being cut in the entire system and there are drastic cuts being made on the west-campus side concerning building usage of evening classrooms, among other things. I believe that these changes are being implimented until 2013. It's a shame that UAT's football coaching staff is one of the highest paid in the country, that money sure could help our campus...

You're looking at it the wrong way; if UAB shut down their athletics, then that money, that's just being wasted right now, could be pumped to Tuscaloosa to help out their football program, because it's actually worth something. /sarcasm
Sarcasm noted, but I don't think any of us really wants to know how the majority of the population of Alabama would vote if forced to decide between decent healthcare and a good football team.
Hopefully the public would choose the right thing...
They'd choose the Tahd hands down.
This is a fan base that shoots each other over a football game. What do you think their vote would be?
