If the NIT followed the same rules as the WNIT, our men would have been in both this year and last year. But like I pointed out, the WNIT is a private enterprise whose goal is to make money. The NIT used to be that way just a few years ago (and clearly during the Newell years), but now it's selection and seeding is run just like the NCAA tournament.

Except every conference is guaranteed participation in the NCAA Tournament.

Good point. But if the 32 team NIT did that, there would only be one at large birth.
