"Rat face" Gotlieb is just pathetic... Start making fun about Memphis when they showed clips about Memphis/Tulane game and then this chump proceed to make a case for Duke and Wake Forest to be a #1 seed!!!... This is beyond common sense... 01-wingedeagle
Well, he must know that holding teams scoreless for 15 minutes straight will get you nowhere in the Tournament.
No tiger fan should listen to this guy anymore. He lost all credibility long ago, concerning us anyhow.
He must have bought himself something nice with Diggers credit card before going to work tonight.

"Cha-Ching"!!
he is NOT ON THE COMMITTEE.

ignore the little runt
It was amazing how obvious he was being....the other guy is talking about how awesome our defense was, then other one was talking about us taking the 1 Seed, then good ol dougy couldn't change the subject fast enough...immediately starts talking about Michigan State and Duke and Wake Forest....
For whatever reason, he has written us off for playing in C-USA and only having 4 Top 50 wins. But to make fun of a team is unprofessional. He blows. Big time. He can bite me.
Without question it has become personal for him. So, only in response... F U Doug.

He's been wearing the same Baxter suit for 3 years. Frankly, I'm about ready to kick his arse and steal his debit card.
Memphis doesn't have the strongest resume in the world for a #1 seed (just 4 wins vs. the RPI top 50), but for him to continue to say that the Tigers shouldn't even be considered for a #1 seed is sickening.

It really is sickening. Dont understand why ahole has an ax to grind with us.

But, we need to only worry about UTEP/Houston winner. If we take care of business, we will have a nice selection Sunday.

And it is not just him. Jimmy "Posse" Dykes, Steve Lavin and Jay Williams all have said the same thing about Memphis not even deserving to be in the conversation for a #1 seed.

That's the entire tv list right there. Throw in Goodman and that just about covers it.

1 - Goodman
2 - Dykes
3 - Dougie
4 - Lavin
5 - Jay Williams

At some point ESPN has to say something to these guys. They can't censure them, but I would think that ESPN would let Dykes know that the $EC doesn't deserve to have 4 teams ranked; 5 bids and UT isn't a Final Four team.

At some point, ESPN should explain to Lavin that slanting everything against Memphis for no reason and saying that Jrue Holiday was a candidate for FOY is just plain stupid.

No matter how much someone hates Memphis, it is nonsensical to say that a team that will go into the tournament without losing a game in 3 full months is not a viable candidate for a #1 seed, especially when everyone else is getting beaten. Gottlieb used to be one of the fairest towards us. Clearly, our fans taunting him about credit cards at the Final Four (and probably since) has made this a personal thing for him.

I can't think of anything much to say about Jay Williams. I can't ever recall Jay Williams ever saying anything remotely intelligent, insightful or memorable. Commentary from Jay Williams is pretty much the same as commentary from a lamp or throw pillow.

The bottom line is that all these clowns are doing is making themselves look less than intelligent, and more importantly; unprofessional.
ESPN isn't going to say anything. I've learned from being a political conservative that no one in the media is going to cover your back. Memphis is about as popular to the ESPN pundits as Sean Hannity is to the CNN gang. They will NEVER, ever like us. Get used to it. It ain't gonna change.
Here is a picture I found of him while googling his name:

just thought it was funny
again..none of them are on the committee. what they say amounts to nothing.

THEY
ARE
NOT
ON THE
COMMITTEE

You were doing ok until you brought poltics and Fox News into the conseversation. Sean Hannity is brain dead. Him and his goofball friend Combs or whatever his name are glossal bores. No wonder you think; "They will NEVER, ever like us. Get used to it. It ain't gonna change."

What the talking heads say is meaningless.

Awesome defense???? We were playing Tulane. Tulane, people. Tulane. TULANE. If the Tigers had been playing West Virginia or Oklahoma State tonight, they would have been annihilated.

Sean Hannity is unpopular because he's a massive douche. Like all social conservatives.

Your right. I need to leave politics out of this message board. The point was Memphis is as popular to the national media as conservatives are, and I'll leave it at that.
Gotlieb even blasted his own alma mater Ok State. I really think he hates everybody.

LOL, oh the irony
Every time you guys get all pissy and whiney about what the ESPN boys say about Memphis, you are obviously not looking at the bigger picture.

We've discussed this numerous times in previous seasons on this board:

ESPN has to maintain a high level of interest from their viewing audience between games and during half-times. They have no choice but to cater to large clusters of fans of the larger BCS schools. If you are a UCLA, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Pitt, North Carolina, Texas or UConn fan, do you really want to listen to the talking heads rave about Davidson, Gonzaga, Butler or Memphis (all non-BCS) teams with smaller fan bases? The answer is an obvious 'NO!'.

These guys are doing what they are told and ad lib from there. They can't blather on about Memphis because most of the national viewing audience has never seen Memphis play or maybe only seen them one or two times this season. We are not on their radar and therefore hold no level of interest for them. It's just the way that it is!

Don't take it so personally, people. There's no point in feelin' dissed on when it's just a television producer who is calling all the shots. 03-no

Never thought of it that way. Should have, but I didn't. Thx.
03-weeping He's just a big baby, this is a guy who was convicted of credit card fraud in college. He is not too bright. Just another one of those experts who can't walk the walk to fame but he can talk a lot about it

And you are an a$$hole. I guess Hannity hits a nerve with people like you. They say the truth hurts. The difference between conservatives and liberals, like yourself, is that conservatives argue facts, liberals argue on imagination & conspiracy. What a moron.
