I didn't see or hear the game, so I can't comment. But when your best shooter is 3 of 13, and your starting perimeter is a collective 6 of 31. . . . it might have been better just to stay home.
If Coach Shields don't know now that he needs some guys who can shoot the ball, will he ever know?

Last night was horrible. Nobody could throw it in the ocean. But let's face it. We know we have some kids who can shoot if they can get good shots. If we consistently shot earlier in the shot clock, our shooters would be more effective, but when they get down to the end, as we did several times last night, and III, or someone has to jack one up to beat the clock, you're not going to make many. Our offense doesn't move. It's static. People don't consistently set screens for the shooters.

Have we ever seen a pick and roll from our team? And it was obvious we couldn't get shots off under the basket last night. Those guys just stuffed most of Fowler's and Shane's shots when they tried to force a layup. I don't care what type of shooter you have, if you can't get him open, he can't shoot. If the offensive philosophy of this staff remains the same, we'll never get to the NCAA. We can't recruit players with the size and ability to overwhelm the Westerns and USA's. It just isn't going to happen.

When Bear Bryant realized the game of college football had changed, he went out to Oklahoma and learned the wishbone offense, and installed it at Alabama. He started winning again. One of the greatest coaches in football was willing to change in order to win. What's the old funny definition of "insanity". "Doing the same thing over and over, hoping to get different results". Does that seem familiar with our basketball program?03-banghead03-banghead03-banghead
