Full Version: Did the Ladies peak too early?

We may have peaked about two weeks early. We haven' played very well the past few games. I believe that the fact that we hardly make any effort to go to the boards on offense will be our downfall.I sure would like to hear Foley's thoughts on this.

We may have the best player in the league, and if we do anything beyond what has already been accomplished, Chastity will have to do it. I don't recall ever seeing scorers like Kim and Anshel. They're either feast or famine. Kim and Anshel do all the other good things for us. When they are famine in the same game, we struggle to win.[/align]

Got to really praise Shanika Butler, she has played like a wildcat the past two games, I don't know if I've ever seen a girl play as hard and as possessed as she has.

The only way I see us winning the tournament is, for Chastity, Kim, and Anshel to be hitting their shots, Marian to be a force inside, and Asriel and Shanika to play like they normally do. If all three of our scorers are are shooting decently, and playing defense like they normally do, I don't think anyone in the Sun Belt can beat us. Unless we let one player score 29 points against us in a half again.

Playing as we have for the past few games, I don't see us winning the it, but, who couldn't be proud of this team. They've played some great defense all season, and have we've had some great games. Even the OT loss to MTSU, what a great game. I sure hope I'm wrong about this, and I've been wrong before. Lots of thrills the past few seasons.

Reading between the lines of what Foley has been saying that the ladies need to mature (paraphrasing) and listening to the post game interview Love did with Elson after the UNO game. I think some of the players may be taking games for granted not realizing that they have a target on their back. The past few games we have played the bottom tier of our division. We clinched the division early and it appeared we thought we could go on cruise control and just step on the court and win. I had a feeling ULL would give us their all being this was their final game and winless in the conference. We got to get the hunger back. Maybe the opportunity to play in the Big Dance will wake them up this coming weekend. Even Rolfe has had some bad games this past couple of weeks. And Rolfe has been pretty reliable all season.

That may be the case, but after about a half with a 0-17 conference record, playing your *** off, you'd think that they'd get the message and start playing ball.

As you and I discussed at the game last night, maybe it's just a plain old lack of motivation by a young team. Hopefully, if that is the case, they can turn it back on in the tournament.

I hope that is the problem Jim. I just hope we haven't lost that edge we had at one time. We even had it the night we lost to MTSU. Even though I believe without a doubt that Middle is the better team, we should have won that game. No reason in hell we should allow one player to score 29 points in one half.
