Hey, me and chris were sitting in class, and you'll never believe what he told me!
Ok, keep this on the dl cuz we don't want it to leak out and get canceled.
For the game against Memphis on February 26, UAB plans to wear uniforms to honor the largest employer in not just Birmingham, but the entire state of Alabama!

Hey, ALFA's a sponsor. Maybe we should honor them by wearing red and white uniforms.

Yay!!! So, we're going to wear green and gold uniforms then?

I look for them to pull out the gold unis for Memphis. I was talking to Attalla after the game and we agree that we'd love to see the old school "Birmingham" UAB throwbacks some of these days.
Maybe we can get a sponsor to spring for making a set of those for us?

Dammit, Band Dad. They've put signs on every flat surface in Bartow this season. If the team comes out of the tunnel with Suzukiman capes on their uniforms that's the last straw...I'm leaving.

That would be cool ... as long as they don't wear the old-school shorty shorts.
Well, on second thought, they could wear pink tutus and ballet slippers on Feb. 26 if they helped them defeat the Evil Blue Menace.

I heard a rumor that the Blazers were going to wear paper hats and aprons that says Milo's on them.

Yuck... Mil'os is the worst burger I ever tried tried to eat except make a Checkers' burger.
02-14-2009, 07:47 PM
Blasphemy!
02-14-2009, 07:55 PM
I figured this was the next step, seein' as the Milo's jingle is the last stanza of our fight song.
02-14-2009, 07:56 PM
If Milo's opened a kiosk in the arena, they would make hundreds of thousands per game.

Apparently you didn't read the AUP. That is a bannable offense.

Is BTR not going to make a comment even if this thread is now talking about his true love?

He is probably in a Central American hospital being treated for an aneurysm after reading that post.

Poor guy, I want to send him a hand written letter. That might cheer him up

Milo's is heaven on a bun.
That is all.

Back to the original topic at hand, I think some Memphis fans are losing sight of the fact that there will one day be a Memphis U. team, not coached by John Calipari, and playing in a building not named FedEx.
I'd post this over there, but they seem to be in a bit of a mood.

Memphis bashed on uniwatchblog for fedex unis

Quote:Listen closely, because you may never hear me say this again: Purple was not the main issue here. Neither was the prospect of Memphis wearing the orange hue of arch-rival Tennessee (although that apparently pissed off a lot of fans). The big issue, of course, was glorifying a corporate entity that already has its name plastered on the side of your building. This would be inappropriate enough for a pro team, but it’s completely offensive for a collegiate program — doubly so for a public university like Memphis.
Quote:I know there are a handful of you out there who think this is no big deal. And to you I say: Fine, then let’s rename the city of Memphis as “Memphis, Delivered by FedEx.” Because there’s really no difference between that and what the Memphis hoops team was planning here. Once you sell out your civic institutions to corporate interests, it’s like that story about the million dollar hooker versus the $50 hooker — just a matter of degree. Either way, you’re a whore.
My thoughts exactly.

NOW on Yahoo!'s front page. Memphis can't catch a break with this one.

I agree with y'all. This is totally embarrassing. The definition of whoring.

It didn't happen because of the fan reaction. Cal was pretty hot about it too.
