Clyde McBrooks - the worst era in Cougar basketball.

after 80 games... Murry Bartow 50-30 (22-15) ....Mike Davis 47-33(19-15)...

Interesting that Davis has an easier league to deal with than Bartow did yet has a worse win percentage.

Murry made the NIT his first two seasons and the NCAA's his third.
Mike Davis has made one NIT, and the third season is not looking good.

Like some said on this board during the Davis hire.. "welcome to Murray ball!".

Bartow.
He at least had the name, if nothing else.

All I will say is look at who Murry beat and look at who Davis beat. THEN post your answer. You may even look at some of the losses too. It may open your eyes on who is the better or worse of the two coaches.

murry had a lot of talent on his ncaa team and waisted it. i knew mb had to go when he called a time out and i saw players who were in the game at the time turn their backs on him and walk off.

I've known Murry since HS, though we were never close (as I'm not from a rich people background) but Tammy's always been very friendly since we were in college, so it wasn't easy to see him tossed out. But after the player meltdown at South Florida, when he couldn't control Fred and Myron IN PUBLIC, he had to go.
I can tolerate coaches losing games. I can't accept coaches who embarrass the university. December 16th remains a blacker mark for Davis than January 10th.

Murry was bad but at least he wasn't a Tider. Davis took over a program that had been to 3 straight NCAA's. He has a losing recond first year with a team that should have at least gone to the NIT. He went around telling people he had no players. I knew then we had made a mistake. Everytime a few of us tried to point his shortcomings out we were accused of panicking. ( mostly by a certain tn blazer). Now this same guy is sounding the alarm to dismiss Davis. ( about time). Then we have a moderator with his head so far up Davis' backside he cant see anything. Yes im pissed. Been going for 30 yrs and honestly im sick of this program and the people who run it. Now dont some of you pansies tell me to take a hike and that the program doesnt need fans like me. The program needs more fans like me. Fans who want more. Expect more. By the way, I hate the local media too but stop blaming them for our lack of respect. WIN games, put a good product on the court with kids that go to class, and a home schedule that isnt a joke and more people will come to games. The local media will have to take notice. It doesnt work the other way around.

True.
I could give a rip where he played. All I care about is results.
Murry had a better record but beat some of the worst teams in the country. Murry Bartow was SWAC Champion 4 years running. Not trying to defend Davis but if you compare opponents there is no contest here. Murry also had some losses that made the Daytona trip look good. + when you include the lack of discipline it was pretty bad. How quickly some forget.

That depends on two things. What game are we watching, and white or whole wheat bread? (My doctor tells me I need more fiber.)
Depending on your answers to both of my questions, my answer may be "both".
Then, I may be off to the bathroom to clean urinals with my tongue. (If you need to ask, it has to do with proving my dedication & commitment to UAB.)

If I am the Blazer from Tennessee you are referring too, boy your memory sucks. I have been on Davis's *** since the day he was hired. I never wanted him as coach, but tried to make the best of it. I agree that the first year team wasn't as bad as Davis made it sound and in that first year when he said he was embarrassed to be associated with the team, I went ballistic. Maybe you ought to do a search of the postings in that first year and see who was supporting Davis and who wasn't. I supported the team and will always, but I have never been a huge Davis fan.

mb is telling the truth because i repeatedly trashed him for being too critical of davis from the day he got the job. i gave davis a pass his first year because his style did not suit the players. this year i did not renew my season tickets.

I dont spend my time searching all the previous post. I have a life. I get laid from time to time. (you should try it) I also have been going to games since day one. Dont try to tell me your support is greater than mine. When some of you were predicting 27 - 3 records for us this year i cautioned we would be lucky to go to the NIT. I pointed that Davis had recruited poorly and left us in a bad situation. I didnt really mind that he went to Bama, hell we all make mistakes. I WILL be critical when its needed. Murry was a bad coach. Davis hasnt shown anything to suggest he is much better. My hope when he was hired was that at least we are getting a great recruiter and that was more important at UAB. If ive pissed a couple of you off.... good. (sorry about the laid comment) Im pissed too. We may not all agree on here but i do think we are all Blazer fans. Where do we go from here? I dont think Davis will be fired this year.

You haven't pissed me off. I frankly don't recall anything you have ever posted.
I have never predicted a record or claimed that my support was better than anyone elses. I really don't know why you are lashing out at everyone on the board when you are pissed at Davis.
Congratulations on getting laid from time to time. Maybe you should increase the frequency.

"Maybe you ought to do a search of the postings in that first year and see who was supporting Davis and who wasn't."
I recall that Memphis Blazer was very angry with Davis, as were Brother Non-Registered User and myself, even before his first game when he tried to issue #20 to Robert Vaden right after endorsing Alfonso "*************, you goin' to Al'bammer" Johnson over our First Blazer for the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
I had thought Davis was showing signs of maturing and growing into the job. There are 16 more games to be played and I pesonally will wait to see how he performs under this self-induced pressure, and will continue to Believe in our players, our program, and our brothers and sisters.

+1
I am also in agreement in you getting laid more randy............
As a matter of fact I suggest we all log off our computers and go to our spouses (Those of us that have them any way & if you don't you can use the latex variety), tell them how much you love them, take them by the hand to the bedroom and everyone get laid!
Bye, see you guys later...........

Feel Better? Hope so. You're due your opinion and certainly have the right to post it here, but trashing another poster and the moderator and calling others that disagree with you "pansies" is over the top. None of us are happy with the current situation, and I for one, am not convinced that Mike Davis can get the job done here, but a constant barrage of bitching among ourselves serves no purpose. In my opinion, the WORST thing that could happen to this program is for Mike Davis to be fired in the middle of the season. The next worst thing is for fan's discontent to reach the team while they are trying hard to salvage the season. These players work their butts off and don't deserve to hear folks like us tell them how lousy they are. They are Blazers and should be supported even in defeat. If they are not good enough, the coach should be able to go find better ones.Mike Davis is a Blazer and deserves to be treated as any other human being would expect to be treated...not trashed. If he can't get the job done, get rid of him when it LEAST affects the future of the organization.
Since you are a long time supporter, I would suggest that you continue to support the team, including CMD until the season is over. Then, if you are still convinced he should go, call Mackin and tell him your opinion.
BTW, I don't know of any of our fans (even a couple that I know ARE pansies) would tell to take a hike.
