The game wasn't lost simply at "crunch time". This was a pretty thorough defeat, even if the score was close at the end. We may not have needed "crunch time" scoring if the bench players had been in more...

I will agree to a small, VERY small extent...he always says if you miss shots and turn it over or whatever, then he can't play you, yet Sallie hit a three off the bench in the second after having not even played in the first, and he never sees the court again...I could understand it if he was giving up lay-ups or one of the Tigers was shooting lights out...makes you wonder.

True, except he doesn't take the same philosophy with Tyreke, who killed us tonight, not just because of misses, but because they were bad shots. Cal usually has little tolerance for bad shots.
Sallie hit a 3 but then Cal said he got lost on D a couple of times. Cal did say he should have played him more.

Your comment is not only illogical, it completely overlooks what I said. Cal has always used the depth of our bench, which is why our players stay fresh and run other teams down at the end of games.

He has no shot, has tunnel vision, and is only there to "get his" before he launches a failed NBA career. Kemp didn't do anything either. At least Witherspoon and Robinson weren't taking dumb shots all night and missing every free throw imaginable. Just because his name is Cal doesn't mean he's always right. I love the guy, but coaches make mistakes.

SO does everyone in here thing the team is just dandy? I don't. I don't see us winning the C-USA and I don't see us getting far in the dance, if we're even invited. We have no go-to guy on the team. Just a dribble drive offense that struggles when other teams play a sagging zone, because we can't shoot to save our lives. Our defense is the only thing we have going for us.

Last year the starters averaged 69% of minutes.
But look how Cal played them in close games:
USC 72%
UAB 75.5%
Gonzaga 77.5%
utk 72%
We could go on with other ones or go back to previous years and find the same pattern, I just picked those and they bore out my memory of the way things have been.
This year, the starters from tonight's lineup have averaged 66.4% of minutes so far, and they played 75% of minutes tonight.
The bottom line is that Cal shortens the bench when games are close - he plays reserves if they are playing well and keeping the game close, but more pt goes to those who are making the plays at both ends, or whom he feels should be able to make plays.
