seemed to be running for a seat on the State Board of Education. In the ad she blasted "Liberals" led by Paul Hubbert of AEA (the chief spokesperson for over 90% of Alabama's K-12 professional educators). Does she suppose it helps her chances for winning this election to declare war on AEA, and the teachers it represents, the way she did?
OOPS!! Wrong office. She is running for a place on the State Public Service Commission. As a former Chair of the State Republican party, I'm wondering if she has Alabama Power shaking in its shoes?
This is Alabama. The default position for politicians is to condemn "libruhls".
"Tony Smith. Too liberal to be our county coroner."
It's probably coming.
<<Are you aware that there is no state or local statute requiring ANY KIND of medical licensing for the office of Coroner in Alabama?>>
I believe you have to be an MD in Jefferson, Madison, Montgomery and Mobile counties, but that Obama and Palin could run for coroner in the other 63 counties. In my media days we would get free personal medical advice from the night shift coroner, usually while he was cutting away on a corpse, scalpel in one hand, sandwich in the other.
I'll be happy to have a lib coroner, as long as we have a rep gov and prez.

Honestly, those type commercials are turning me off, terribly.
What my brain hears when my ears receive those commercials is, "Mr. and Mrs. Electorate, we're pretty sure you're idiots."
Nothin' like two yokels leaning on a tractor with this dialog going on:
"I hear he gets money from lobbyists in [pause] New York City!"
"Neeeew Yowerk Ceety! That's too librul fer us!"
My favorite is the candidate who has Amazing Grace as the background music. She might as well say "Vote for me or you're going to hell!"
"Twinkle"? Really?
I'm changing my name to Muadib.
I saw her billboards when I was in town this weekend. She has her name on them, with McCain-Palin beneath her name as if they are her running mates. It's hilarious.
I could never vote for someone named "Twinkle."

nerd, and a second rate one at that. its Maud'Dib not Muadib
I had a friend of the family who is in local politics that told me one time, there is one requirement to be a coroner: the ability to fog a mirror.

Twinkle is her real name and she is the former state chair of the Alabama Republican Party, though she calls herself an "advisor" to Gov. Riley.
Honest to god I saw an ad that said she was pro-life. Now, my or anyone else's position on abortion aside, what in the name of all that is good does that have to do with her service on the Public Service Commission?
