The answer would be no. 03-lmfao

I would have said the same thing as Palin, mainly because the Constitution says it as well: "shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be evenly divided" (Article I, section 3).

President of the Senate sounds like running the Senate to me....

The Senate gets to make it's own rules, outside of the VP being the presiding officer. That means the VP doesn't get to be "in charge". She wouldn't be able to shape the policy of the majority. Honestly, if Sarah Palin wants to preside over the Senate, I think that's the best place should she be elected. Probably the place she could do the least damage. Not even the President Pro-Tem presides over the Senate most of the time.
If the Republican ticket wins, I feel confident that Vice President Palin will be far more prepared by January than she was the first weeks after her nomination. After all, until the end of August 2008, she had only to be concerned with her state. It takes time to learn all the foreign and domestic "ins and outs" of national affairs. She appears to be a very bright person who probably saved the ticket this election, and has the proven ability to win votes to her side. After all, the people of Alaska who elected her Governor are not that different from those of us in the "Lower 48".

Hopefully she'll have time to read that pesky Constitution.
The Republicans have been ignoring the Constitution for years, that won't stop her. What will is the Senate itself... she won't be allowed in the Senate caucus rooms, instead the'll be bored to tears sitting there waiting for the Senate Parliamentarian to tell her its time to pound the gavel.
