Has Obama tried to work on something other than saying "8 yrs of failed policies" at the beginning of every answer he gives? He rarely offers real solutions and instead stands on the leg that most of America does not approve of the Bush Administration, which works completely against McCain.
Also, can they find people who can read and/or speak to ask the questions at the debate?
Oh, here goes Obama again with blame. Bush isn't running you idiot!!!
I don't think anybody ever wins in debates. It's a lose-lose-lose proposition.
Obama talks about Bush about as often as McCain mentions being a POW
I'll give you that but one is something someone went through for their country and the other is laying blame. BIG DIFFERENCE.

I did not hear POW mentioned tonight. Did I miss it?
Yeah, I didn't hear it either but even if he does mention it I feel it is necessary to judge the character of a man, of a President. In my mind there is no doubt that McCain has put country first. Sure, he has had lapses of judgment like every politician but he is a good man that will do what's best for this country. We need that kind of leader.
One word explains every "answer" given...tangent.
I thought the debate was a marginal Obama victory on points. That said, the Town Hall Meeting format was supposed to be McCain's strong point, and if that's true he wasted his shot.
Obama looked comfortable, and his answers were coherent. McCain looked stiff and angry. His body language was terrible. I can't believe his handlers didn't improve that from the last debate.
Given the relative position of the candidates, a marginal Obama victory tonight is a substantial victory in terms of the overall race.
Also, WTF was McCain doing talking about buying back the bad mortgages? It's another huge expenditure and he's stepping all over the Republican message of making people who got overextended on stupid loans be responsible. That struck me as very strange indeed.
*edit* I also just heard that McCain never used the words "middle class". Obama probably used those words twenty times in the first half hour alone.

There is a tendency to see every choice as "bad" guy vs "good" guy. This race is presenting America with a choice between two "good" men running for President. You may disagree with one more than the other, but don't try to go the route of labeling one as "Mr Pure/ Good guy" and his opponent as "Mr Devil/ AntiChrist". They are BOTH POLITICIANS running for a position of political dominance.
There are also 435 Representatives running for election as well as about 33 Senators. Those 568 persons are going to have a LOT to say about what the next President will be able to accomplish.

Agreed. Most things the candidates talk about accomplishing, really is within the power of Congress.

I guess he's calling attention to the reports that a large corps of Bushies are at the center of McCain's campaign. They are several of his speechwriters and campaign strategists "on loan" from a "lame duck" administration that wants to protect its "legacy".
BandDad,
McCains stiff body language can be attributed to the fact that he is somewhat disabled after taking daily beatings for 5 years as a POW. His range of motion is severely limited. Also, he did use the term "middle class" during an answer about tax cuts.
Also, Obama did not seem comfortable at all. From a public speaking standpoint he sounded like someone who has never done it. He had at least several "ums, uhs" in most of his sentences and he stumbled over his words quite a bit. It was a big departure from what you normally see from him.

Indeed.
Looks like I'm writing in my dad again this year.
This one was a draw. Partisans on each side will call it a victory for their man, but nothing really happened last night. Each man did what he needed to do to stay competitive; neither one landed a heavy blow or made a big mistake. Both spent most of the time avoiding direct answers to the questions. That is all that I saw.
Have no idea what most of you guys were looking at. I honestly watched with as independent an eye as I think possible.
This one was a clear TKO for McCain.
Biden/ Palin was a marginal victory for Biden. His debate skills helped him. He stayed on message more and rambled less.
The first Obama/McCain debate was boring with no victor. (I missed it live but caught it later on a CSPAN rerun).
