As written by a dreamer, thinker and doer that sits in the back row of history class.

Many years ago a few Egytians decided to settle in what is now known as Western Tennessee. They liked it there because the Mississippi River reminded them of the Nile River. They decided to settle on the west bank of the Mississippi River mainly because that sounded good to them.
After they settled on the west bank, the rain began to fall. It was very muddy and swampy there. Eventually people got sick and the physicians were afraid it might be the West Mississippi Virus. They were so frightened of the disease they decided to move the city to the east bank. They found a big three hill and decided to build their city on one of the hills.
Everyone was so homesick, they decided to name the city Memphis. After all this was a name with which they were all familiar.
Their first item of business was to build the queen a large mansion. I think the queens name was cleopatra, or something like that. Anyway she liked the "place of good abode", but before they could even finish building her home, Queen Cleopatra, who some people liked to call Queen Cleo, decided she wanted to go back to Egypt.
As she was ready to begin her long journey home, Cleo who was very good at telling the future for a fee, had these words of wisdom concerning the future of Memphis.
She said "One day in the distant future, Memphis will have a GREAT leader, he will not have many wives, but he will have many children from many different mothers. I don't know his name, but for now I will call him KING WILL-HE HAIR IN TONGUE. He will lead Memphis thru many troubling times. Many of the troubling times he will help create."
Her final words as she was leaving, was to the people who will live during the times of this great king. (twenty gold pieces please)
"Never disagree with Hair in Tongue because it will make him think that no one likes him. He will feel so alone that he will want to fight everyone."
After the queen left the people of Memphis had no need for the queens mansion. They decided to let many different people stay in the mansion for a small fee and they called it Hotel Peabody.
That is as far as I got in Tennessee History. I never got to learn much about the Evil Empire of the East. But, I have learned that no one in the whole US of A trust them very much. Not the poor working people in east Tennessee or the very good basketball and football players in West Tennessee.

UMMMM........I have a History degree, and I'm almost 1000% positive that Eyptians did not settle Memphis. Consider how many Egyptians you see walking around downtown, and maybe pay a little more attention in class. BTW, what class is it? Who is teaching it?

This thread just got even more bizarre.
Quote:KING WILL-HE HAIR IN TONGUE

Wasn't he pharaoh when the Great Pyramid of ancient lower Memphis was built?
yep----I didn't think about that. Now I'll have to rewrite my history book. hehehe
Guess I should have read the entire post before I responed. But the whole thing still makes no sense.
actually the Pharoah only lived in the Pyramid for a short time in the late 90s

Great stuff! Keep it coming!
I thought this area was settled by Chickasaw indians. I don't see many of them walking around downtown.

This are was actually settled and plotted out by a few white guys. One of which, James Winchester, had was such a great surveyor a street is now named after him. That street that bears his name is located along the line the great surveyor plotted out as the state line. lol

This is what happens when you mix a case of bud light, a computer, and mt.org
You may be closer than you think. This is what happens when you have that long flight from Hong Kong to LAX, along with anything you want to drink. I can't sleep on a plane so I usually write crazy meaningless poetry or short stories to pass the time while my wife sleeps. She happened to read this one and dared me to post it on the tiger board.....
Being crazy is not all that bad, sometimes it is even a little fun.
It was great! How about another one?
