Guys I hate to say but the BOT plan to dismantle our football program is happening. They only want us to have a basketball team. We have to separate from the BOT. Look downtown; lack of marketing, no commercials, people in the city does not even know when games are played. UAB is a good program for kids that cannot make the Bama roster come to and showcase there talent. In 14 years we have put some good players in the NFL therefore we are building history and tradition.. The Bamas do not want us to get to that point so they are trying to destroy it now. That is why Calloway is here.
People know when UAB is playing. Just not selling the product.
Why we are not selling the product. Because the powers that be does not want us to succeed. It would not be hard selling this product if we had the right sponsors. We need to get some out of state lawyers and become our own school not part of the BOT.
I really dont ever see UAB a separate entity from Alabama. UAB is the cash cow for Alabama.
Scrushy was probably our biggest hope for developing a separate BOT in the future. And we know what happened to him.
Yep, it seems almost impossible. However, if enough people step up it can happen. I'm not giving up but it does not look good and today even set us back even more. Right now I only can hope Nick Saban do so well that it comes to a point that Alabama would be so happy that they would give UAB the people we need to succeed due to the fact they will be ranked in the top 3 teams every year..lol..
Let me rephrase that. UAB probably will not separate in my lifetime... but could down the road sometime. That would be nice..

You are flat wrong. I saw 3 commercials on ABC 33/40 for the Tulsa game the week of the game, as well as a 1/4 page ad in the Bham News Sports section everyday for 2 weeks. They are advertising, you just aren't seeing it. The rest of your post is just ignorant.

no but seriously, i hope the UAB football program stays afloat. TROY needs a solid in-state rival. despite not playing each other since '06, i'd say our rivalry is fairly heated. neither fan base likes the other, we both have insults we stereotype for the opposition, and the players seem to get up for the game. i hope we can conitnue the series for a long time.

Why was he kicked off?
Because he was more than controversial, he was divisive, abrasive, and pissed many many people off repeatedly. He was warned a number of times, but finally went over the line once too often and was banished.
There were few tears shed, even among the more negative posters.
If I were a mod I'd have chucked his arse out months sooner than he got the hook.
