What a crock! Over half of the "corporations" are S Corps or LLCs, whose earnings are passed to the owner and taxed at the individual level. So considering that, the majority of the 2/3 that did not pay tax, actually did, just at the individual level. Also, how many of those companies that were actually C corps, made a profit during the period covered? Since it covered 1998-2005, that would include a lot of dotcoms that never actually made any real profit and therefore never would have paid taxes.

That first article was such a liberal media attempt to paint the big evil corporations as not paying taxes on top of all the money that they are stealing from the poor citizens of america.... The company I work for, a public traded company, based in Bham, doing business nationally, paid over $36 million in taxes in 2007, which was 33% of our profit. Not to mention the over $25 million that we paid in payroll taxes, premium taxes, property taxes and state taxes. To try and say that companies don't pay taxes is ridiculous!
Do you know anything about taxes? Most of the people in the articles obviously don't.

Federal Income taxes are paid on profits (income) NOT sales. The lawmakers in the article don't grasp this fact. Although the corporations did not pay taxes, much of the income was taxed as the owners were taxed on those profits.

There you go letting the facts get in the way of his thread starting trend today :)
Don't ya'll realize that liberals have yet to grasp the concept of capitalism, supply/demand, the market cycle, or basic business 101? These are the same people who want to put a limit on the amount of profits that a company makes. They like to punish success and reward mediocrity.
Dorgan and Levin make an indictment of corporate America, but don't support the charge with evidence.
