Interviewed on the College gameday kickoff show on ESPN2 and all they talked about is VT and WVU. Come on skippy, you need to plug CUSA at least once.

He was asked about our first TWO GAMES and thats what he talked about. Good lord.

Well when you are being interviewed it is kinda hard to control the content. Matter of fact it was a lot more about Lou and Skip than it was about ECU and Skip.
Poster number one. Give the guy a break; he usually talks up CUSA well.
Just caught it. They kinda dissed C*USA and Skip didn't take the opportunity to correct them by talking up some of our better teams. It is not his job, but we would have appreciated it.
Oh well, ECU comes to Birmingham again.

They ask the questions, & who do you think they are going to ask about & want to talk about when we essentially host two top 15 teams on their network the first 2 weeks of the season?

I disagree, you should watch it again. While it obvioulsy helps to have the last name Holtz, the segment was clearly about Skip & ECU what he has done here, season outlook etc. That said it's hard to ignore the fact his father is a coaching icon & part of the show interviewing him, of course they will show some old photo's & touch on that of which they did for about 2 of 7 minutes joking around & for entertainment purposes.
Here is the interview, & anyone can judge for themselves, & if he dropped the ball.

Regardless it was great to have a 7 minute segment on ECU & our coach in the first 15 minutes of a college preview show on the biggest sports network on TV, & S. Holtz handles himself & sales ECU well every time he is in an interview like this.
Send Skip to Memphis, so Cal can show him how to control the conversation and promote CUSA. It not that hard, see Cal do it all the time.

agree.. he did just fine.
Disregard the thread Pirates, as it's just another cog in the "Bash ECU" theme around here.
Maybe some other C-USA program can get their coach on ESPN and maybe they can talk about C-USA!!!
As we all know it is fairly common before the season even starts to completely overlook TWO top 20 opponents and talk about conference games in November???

You should read the post directly above yours to find out why that theme exists.
Screw CUSA
Haven't heard that one from an ECU fan before

It comes from the autorepsonder: Screw [Insert name of conference that contains UCF]. Look in the control panel.
How old is Skip? He looked pretty young on TV for a 1-A coach.
44 years old. He got his 1st head coaching job at 29 at UConn & took them farther than they had ever gone before at the time. They had never won more than 8 games in a season & he won 7, 8 & then 10 games in his last year before moving on to S. Carolina to be his dad's OC & so his kids could & he could be near his mother who had cancer at the time. He had that job promised to him but that never worked out. He was also the Offensive coordinator in his mid 20's at Notre Dame under his dad including the year they beat FSU I believe & should have won the National Championhip. Had a really good offense that year so he has been around a a long time in coaching at high levels.
Screw CUSA
ECU would choke and not get it up....

Thanks for the info. I thought he looked pretty young. I don't care for his dad so much with his manly love affair with all that is ND, but Skip seems like a good one.

That is such a dumb post. CUSA has bigger worries than worrying about Skip Holtz not plugging CUSA. Hell, after what UTEP did tonight, why would he want to?
I just hope this is not a precursor to the rest of the season for CUSA.
Go CUSA, we got to win these OOC games this year.

Me too, seeing as it took us a miracle to beat UTEP last year...

UTEP will probably be alright. After all it was the first game of the year and it was on the road; with a new defensive coordinator. Let's give the Miners a couple of weeks to work out the kinks, before judging their season a failure.
