Wayman Tisdale had the lower part of his right leg amputated Monday.
Diagnosed early last year with cancer, the Oklahoma basketball legend has been fighting the disease ever since. The surgery to remove the lower part of his leg is expected to eradicate the cancer.

"I have complete faith that with the Lord's blessings, this surgery will eliminate the cancer from my body," Tisdale said in a release.
Bad news, but from what I remember he was/is a positive, motivated guy - so he'll make it through this.
Great musician. My prayers go out to the Tisdale family

I had no idea he became a professional musician. You have to be an incredible talent to succeed like he has at either career, but to have done both is just amazing.

He comes to Memphis often. I've seen him in concert with Mike Phillips and Dave Koz who both are great sax players. Memphis has always been one of his favorite stops. I appreciate his loyalty of playing at the New Daisy when most jazz musicians are only playing at the casino's in this area.

Tisdale was a senior in high school when I was a sophomore, and I remember our team watching some game footage of him before one our practices just from grins. It was amazing how good he was. Talk about a man among boys.

He will persevere.
Hate to hear that.
God bless him and his family.

Here's to a speedy recovery for Wayman.

NORMAN, Okla. -- Former Oklahoma basketball star Wayman Tisdale says he's doing well after surgery last month to amputate part of his right leg.

Tisdale appeared in a video message at halftime of the Sooners' football game against TCU on Saturday night, telling fans he's at peace following the operation.

Tisdale, a three-time All-American in the 1980s, is Oklahoma's all-time leading scorer. He went on to play 12 seasons in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns.

He had surgery in August after cancer was discovered last year.

Tough break for a good guy. Loved watching him play the game.
One of the most dominant bigs in college b-ball in the past 25 years. Wayman could work the post & is an excellent musician.
MUCH PRAYER! MUCH POWER!
