From what I can glean from the Greenhouse web-site, OT's might not be completely done. Sounds like he is going to try and remodel over the next month or so. I consider OT a good friend so I'm not giving up yet. I does mean that when I come down for the Bones, I will need a temporary UAB hang out. Any suggestions?

I know Michigan (Detroit) is going through some economic hard times, but I thought the Birmingham Metro are was doing well. Why all the closings? Burley Earl's, OT's, etc.

I just thought they'd stopped serving lunch!

Now where am I to go for the wholesome goodness that is those chicken fingers?

Actually, I never got a clear answer to that question. I'm just in the habit of expecting the worst. Sorry if I'm wrong.

According to the owner of Becky's right around the corner - the Earl is completely closed.

I worked at UAB in 1999 and put on 25 pounds due to that damned place - I've never lost it since. But oooohhh, the chicken fingers, dagwoods, burgers, and you could play pool and smoke at lunch!

I ate there at least three times a week during that year.

I just called the phone number. The phone rang 20 times with no answer.

No one has updated the Burly Earl Myspace page since July 30. I have sent them a message through MySpace asking for clarification.

I've done the same.

I really hope OT's can make a comeback... my wife and I talked for a good 30 minutes just about OT's and all the memories we have from there.

The Snews article yesterday said OT's was going into bankruptcy - major debts in relation to assets and no relief in sight, so to speak. I hope they got it wrong, but that doesnt seem to jive with any sort of other prospect relating to remodeling, etc.

the 'closed for vacation, expect to reopen August 25' sign is still on the doors and windows of the Burly Earl.
It doesn't look good.
