Never thought I woud see a ACC basketball program step foot in Minges in my lifetime but NCST came last year and we beat them. This year we have Wake Forest coming to Minges (12/22/08) and we go to Clemson (1/3/09) and go to NC State (12/17/08.

He is giving Coach Mac all the tools to build a decent basketball program now we just need him to deliever.

Clemson also played in Greenville last year; and this year I think that George Mason is also coming to Minges.

Overall I see the basketball team on the upswing. I think this team will post a .500 or better record this year.

How could I forget about Clemson 03-banghead Sure would be nice to see a football/basketball and baseball scheduling relationship going forward with Clemson04-cheers

3 ACC schools in the last 2 years at home.

We also play George Mason at home for sure this year & I heard VCU at home as well, who are a top 40-50 team. This is the OOC schedule I have pieced together so far, and last years RPI.

Home
Wake Forest (#100)
George Mason (#61)
VCU (#54)
NC Central (#286)

Away
NC State (#104)
Clemson (#19)
UNCW (#125)
Winthrop (#108)
Coastal Carolina (#276)

The away games are set & confirmed, we have 4 more unknown home games at this point. Pretty ambitious with only 2 teams out of 9 so far with an RPI of 125+ last year. All very regional & drivable also to teams that are consistantly pretty good. Mack also said they were talking with ESPN about an exempt tournament, but that we would probably do it next year.

Some things I have noticed we are doing or planning to do to upgrade our program. Some of these seem small but that we never have done & I think have to help.

-Brand new practice facility in the works within 2 years.
-Upgraded scheduling
-Chartering flights
-Exempt tournaments
-Fan Jams
-Overseas tours
-Strict class attendance
-Weekly interactive basketball blogs with Mack all year

These are things that we have seldom done in the past if at all. I can't remember the last time we played in a big preseason tournament if ever, or an overseas tour. We never chartered before Holland got here even playing in old spread out CUSA. All this has to help.
