It looks like the schools are committed to athletic facilities. UCF will be moving to a BCS conference in the near future . . . (personal opinion)

But yes, CUSA schools are doing some good things

IMO we should be next to go, at least I'm hoping.

You know, I was talking to some folks today who have season tickets and say they are Tiger fans. Trying to get them to pledge just $100 to help build the weight room.

Their attitude is "let somebody else to it" or "let the big donors do it". As long as our fans think that way, we will remain competitive only with Ark state and MTSU (maybe), but will continue to fall behind the SEC and all the other BCS conferences.

Maybe, you could try harder to educate them. This is their opportunity to be contribute and be part of the team.

Many of those are the first to get mad over losses and call into radio post-game shows demanding that the coach be replaced. As Cal has proven, UofM can reach the heights of success. The key is having ENOUGH people who BELIEVE and WANT it ENOUGH!

I like C-USA, but I definitely think it could be better. Of course, I feel that we should be in a bigger conference (read: BCS) anyways. But it seems that the most commitment displayed in C-USA is teams trying to get out of it. The focus seems to be about making yourself more attractive to another conference, not making C-USA better or more attractive.

True.

Too bad because as G.A. noted, those are the first ones to attack when things go south in a given game or facility pursuit.

People who espouse that attitude have that same "let someone else do it" demeanor in virtually all aspects of their life.

It is what it is.

You know, you and GA are exactly right. People love to complain, but evidently don't care passionately enough to spend a few dollars. Yet I see lots of folks spending hundred dollar bills at Tunica like water.

If we are not careful, we will be left behind again. UCF has made a powerful statement on and off the field. They have spent 100s of millions on athletic facilities and dorms. They are performing on the football field. They are in a major metropolitan level and a fertile recruiting state.

I'm afraid that basketball alone will not get us to the next level. IF we don't get moving, and it doesn't SEEM that we are, we will stay put and that would be unthinkable.

GA I think you misunderstood. I think most people think Conference is committed, it's just the commissioner should be committed to an institution. I swear he has taken lessons from King Willie on how to be invisible and not do anything but have some people think he's doing a lot.

That's a fair observation, but many who have held season tickets for 20+ years but don't donate outside of that, they've done their part.

Some new money guy comes along and donates big bucks to the program so he can rub shoulders with the movers and shakers, but hasn't attended every home game for the last 20 years, is he a bigger fan?

Not everyone wants to get involved financially. Not everyone can. And when you have a solid base of only 30-40 thousand, money is a lot harder to find than say an Arkansas program who has a million fans.

I wouldn't think it is "doing your part" if all you have done is had a couple of season tickets for 20 years.

First, I can say this because apart from the year of my dad's quad-bypass, we had tickets as a family for almost 20 years and then since I have been married (9 years) we have had season tickets all but 2.

Second, that isn't enough. I have grown my season ticket purchase by getting friends interested and buying extra tickets to invite others.

Third, the ONLY reason I am not a HH member and TSF donor is my current financial situation. Once that changes, I will be both.

You don't have to do much, but every little bit helps.
