Dandy Dozen D-lineman Willie Packer 6'2 275 4.75 of Moss Point MS has been cleared by the NCAA to play for Southern Miss as of 4pm today. I think he can help the Golden Eagles this year and contribute to a thin D-front. This guy can bench 400+# right now so imagine what his football future looks like if he can make the grades. The Nasty Bunch is looking better every day. Terrance Pope DL 6'3 275 4.80 of South Panola in Batesville MS is already considered to be a lock for a spot in the rotation as a true freshman. Both were Ole Miss commitments originally before switching to the Eagles. Remember those names because they will be making alot of noise this year and for years to come.
Has Packer been able to practice with the team? If not, it will take him several weeks to get into playing shape.

Yes, he was allowed to practice while awaiting word from the NCAA Clearinghouse.

A player is allowed 14 practices while he waits on clearance. I imagine Packer took advantage of that rule.

Ole Miss sucks year in and year out. How would taking recruits from a sucky team w/ sucky players be beneficial to S. Miss? By doing so, wouldn't that guarantee y'all sucky freshmen???

Obviously eight years old.

He does have a point. Ole Miss DOES definitely suck.

This guy was in the top12 in Mississippi. If I had to pick one guy from a top12 in either Mississippi or North Carolina, I don't think I'd hesitate (unless we're talking basketball) to pick the MS guy.

Also, our DLine is thin. One 3-star freshman DE just flaked out, so having another become eligible is a lucky sign. Hope we continue to have similar luck.
Is that "flaked" out or "flunked" out? And if flaked out, what does that mean?
Definitely 'flaked'. He was cleared to play by the NCAA, but then he decides to play JUCO ball instead. JUCO versus I-A. Should be kinda cut-and-dry. Not sure what happened actually, but every year you usually have a freshman that can't hang and quits. Being a high school superstar and then suddenly you're a freshman nobody is probably traumatic to some degree.

Don't worry Pirate, even with sucky freshman USM would still own ECU. A ECU fan taking a shot at USM football is just flat hilarious....

Sucky or not Ole Miss has more talent than anybody in this conference right now and getting a guy they prized is always good
