Surprise-- Memphis

Bust-- Southern Miss
Hehehehe! Nice! Just wait.

Surprise - UTEP
Bust - UCF
Surprise - Marshall
Bust - ECU
Surprise - UAB (I'd say Marshall but they were not that bad last year)

Bust - SMU (every year they get a decent preseason ranking expecting a good turn around, June Jones is expected to turn things around, but next year, not this one)
Surprise - Rice (it feels good to be a homer)

Bust - SMU. JJ won't lead them to a 1 year turnaround.
Tulane will shock the world.
Surprise - Rice

Bust - So. Miss
Surprise---Rice

Bust---ECU
Surprise: UAB. Got a feeling that they will finish 4th or better in the East.

Bust: Tulsa. (Smith was pretty good; I don't know how he can be replaced without a drop off).
Surprise--The HERD

Bust--Tulsa
I dont know how you people think So.Miss is gonna be a Bust, I mean we went 7-6 last year that was being a bust. Hell if we go 8-4 or 9-3 I think we could be the suprise team.
I have seen several preseason predictions of USM wining the east I see a 7-8 win season at best and ECU or Memphis wins the East
Well here goes then,

Bust: UCF

I just dont see them doing much with Mike Greco at quarterback, and the lost of Kevin Smith and much of that offensive line. I do however think their gonna have one of the best defensive teams in C-USA

Suprise: Tulane

Tulane plays some pretty solid ball and if they can get some production outta of the quarterbacks I think they will suprise some people in the West. They play a pyscial brand of football and on paper they played some of the best defense in the west divison.
Surprise: UTEP

Bust: Houston

Has Grecco officially been named the starter yet?

I don't think we're going to be a bust by any means, but the early games will set the tone, hopefully we don't miss a beat with the changes on the offensive side.

And for the record I do not think ECU is going to be a bust for those who said that, I think Tulsa has a better chance of being a bust but that will all depend on the new qb taking over for Smith

Yes, Greco has been the starter for some time. It was only recently announced, but GOL knew a while ago that he would be the choice. He kept the "competition" going so that Greco didn't get comfortable and would still be pushing every day to improve.

For the record though, all indications point to Greco being MUCH better than Kyle Israel was for us last season. He may make a bad decision here and there, but he makes up for it with his ability, and will probably grow into making those good decisions that we will need.

Thanks Qban.... I definitely think that Greco will be better then KI did last year. KI was a lot better then most would give him credit for though, his job wasn't to lead the team, it was to be accurate and keep possession.

Surprise: Marshall (not really a surprise, everyone's saying it)

Bust: Tulsa (just have a weird feeling, but could be wrong)

UCF will not be a bust, their defense is too good. And it will be between ECU, UCF, and Marshall. And I couldn't tell you who is gonna win it either.
Surprise: UTEP (if they can get a decent defense)

Bust: Marshall (I am a secondary Marshall fan and I hope they can rise back to C-USA Elite, but I don't think their coach can get it done.)
Surprise: Tulane

Bust: Houston
NEVER NEVER NEVER expect USM to do anything but win games. NEVER
I swear USM has been good for 25 years and every year they bring it. They will AGAIN.
Surprise team---- SMU

Bust team----Tulane

25 years?

Um we've only had 8 losing seasons since 1935. It is funny seeing all these UAB fans picking USM as a bust. I don't know how our team will do this year, there just isn't enough information to go on one way or the other. You can say new coach and new system with mismatched players could cause a down year or you could say historical strong program that wins regardless of the coach.

Surprise- Marshall
Bust- a move?
Surprise-Rice
Bust-UCF
Surprise- Rice
Bust- UTEP(Before I get ripped by fellow miner fans, let me explain. I am a die hard miner fan but, after hearing Coach Price yesterday mention that he is starting 6 true freshman including 4 in the backfield on defense, I am now concerned about this year. I hope I am wrong. 03-melodramatic
Surprise - Marshall. If they aren't the surprise team, then Snyder is gone.

Bust - UCF. I saw Greco play at Pearl River. If that's the best UCF has, then they are in trouble. Good Athlete, but not a good QB (see USM's Jeremy Young from last year) .

How could Tulane be a bust if they are picked to finish last?

If they forfeit the entire season or get a worse record than UAB, haha.

Hey Sal they got talent... but 6-6 would be a success given the Miners play a somewhat tough schedule... I think they will be fine... After thursday we shall learn alot about this team...
Surprise: Marshall and Tulane (i think both will go bowling this year)

Bust: UCF (not sold on Greco, losing kevin smith is gonna hurt)

But what do you mean by bust? We're expected to finish middle of the pack in our division, and be around .500. I think we'll be better than that and finish second to Tulsa. To me, a bust for UTEP would be 4 wins or less.

Surprise : Marshall

Bust: S. Miss ( Losing Bower is gong to hurt them )
Surprise - UAB. I doubt they get bowl eligible, but I have a feeling they are going to win more than people think, and play everybody tough.

Bust - Houston.
Surprise: UTEP

Bust: Whichever team has an early season injury to a key player. I hope it doesn't happen to anybody but we all know that it does and is part of the game. CUSA teams don't have depth for their play makers.
Bust-ECU just bc this is supposed to be their year, They will be bowl eligible but I just don't think they will meet expectations. 7-8 wins

Boom- Marshall will challenge for Div title.

This will be a rebuilding year at UCF but we will win 7-9 games, but I don't think they have the horses to beat Tulsa, USF, UM or BC and possibly a lose to either Marshall or ECU.

I am really hoping Tulsa can run the table personally bc it does not help the conference when we knock off our own high flyers. Lately CUSA has not been viewed very well and Tulsa running of the table might get them a BCS game which is great for the conference.
Suprise: Houston-I think they will win the west

Bust:UCF-Dont think Greco is any better than Isreal.Very good athlete but just never seemed to get a rythm going in the passing game at Pearl River.I think UCF will be 6-6
Surprise: Rice

Bust: UCF

Tulane is a joke. I hope we drop 60 on the wave and their washed up coach.
Well hope in one hand, and spit in the other. See which one fills first.
For everyone saying Greco never got it going at Pearl River...

He hadn't played QB in a real game for a year, and after 3 games he broke his collarbone. He had over 600 yards passing after 3 games, with a 53-86 completion/attempt ratio...

He wasn't that bad in his first 3 games...and then he had a season ending injury. How could he have possibly really gotten it going?

You just better hope Sumlin can continue what Art Briles built at UH or else Coach Toledo will be the one dropping 60 on your sorry asses.

I saw him play in two of those 3 games before he got hurt. Greco had a TON of talent around him that did all the work. Also you have to realize that thats just 200 yards per game average in an offense that throws the ball a LOT. Other QB's in that system have averaged 300-400 yards a game. He made easy passes and even looked lost on plays. I know a coach at PRCC that said Greco would run the wrong play numerous times a game. Again, good athlete, not a good QB.

Greco's gotten better, he has his moments. Last year at the Memphis game he was 11 for 12 with 151 yards passing and a rating of 197. He also had 77 yards rushing with two TD's. He's no Paul Smith, but he's no Kyle Isreal either.
Surprise: Anyone in this crazy-ass conference that can put up some decent defense for a change.

Bust: Anyone who can't and doesn't have the offense to make up for it.

Unless Cade McNown has any eligibility left... I'm not worried.

We'll beat you by at least 30 this year.
