"The SunBelt will pass CUSA this year in football. All of our matchups are favorable one way or another and we have been doing better with better competition over the years. After this year we'll stay above CUSA and won't be know as the bottom dwellers anymore. Leave that to the horrible MAC.
The SunBelt is far superior to CUSA. Especially with WKU and USA joining in football. Not to mention that aside from memphis both of their basketball teams (WKU and USA) would have swept up CUSA. We're better at baseball and softball. Hell you can probably through volleyball in their too because of what the muts did.
Besides CUSA has, on average, two really good teams a season with another average one hanging in the wind. The rest are absolute crap. All those teams...it's said."
And boy is it stunning, especially coming from the fan of a program I had lots of respect for. Stunning...now just for me posting that it's time to

eh... what are they going to say? we're awful... god save C-USA!!
seriously though... they have their opinion, we have ours - obviously ours is right lol
well CUSA needs to be strong this season... I think it will happen...
Baseball?!?!?!?!? What??
you know I didn't even really notice that.... CUSA baseball is so much better it's not even worth mentioning lol.
Stay off the sun belt board though, we're better then that - look ahead not behind!!
Well, two of USM's first three football games this year are against Belt teams. I will withhold my opinion until after those two games are played.
most of this "smack" is our fault ya'll...hopefully we'll beat the CRAP out of ASU this season at the Liberty Bowl...we just had some bad luck against the belt lately.
Go Tigers!!!
Drew
Some Troy fan on that board predicted No Texas beating Tulsa. That shows how ignorant some of them are since the last two games were won by TU over 40 points (avg). The sunbelt team we played last year was Monroe (there) who played tough for about a half then it was curtains for them. Most TU fans aren't impressed by the sunbelt. To be honest, no CUSA team should ever lose to a SB team but anything can happen occasionally - look at Bama. I will say this though, I wish some of the CUSA teams would adopt the desire for facility improvement of a few of those SB programs.
Here are the Sun Belt's "favorable" matchups with CUSA this season:
8/30: UL-Lafayette at Southern Miss
9/6: UAB at Florida Atlantic
Tulsa at North Texas
9/13: Southern Miss at Arkansas State
9/20: UL-Monroe at Tulane
9/27: Arkansas State at Memphis
North Texas at Rice
11/8: UTEP at UL-Lafayette
Out of those games I count two maybe three games where the Sun Belt team should be considered the favorite at this point.
in alabama, we're all too familiar with condom u.
they're legends in their own mind, but don't mind letting everyone else know, either.
they may be sbc elite, but
2006 UAB 21-condom u. 3
2005 at Troy UAB 27-condom u.7

I think this "talk" about SB passing CUSA is stupid but it just shows that it really does not matter who you beat in OCS just beat them.
Sorry to break anyones bubble but when the better teams play harder BCS opp and lose and then the weaker C-mates lose a few, makes the whole conference look like they are weak,,, which kills exposure. UCF and ECU should not be playing as hard of opp as they are bc they will likely only win one each of those games and yes it helps ECU or UCF but going 2-2 in OCS for the better teams hurts the rest of the conference.
I am a UCF fan, but this year I will be pulling for Tulsa, in all games but one, because they get "it", it does not matter who you play just win the games.
It all starts with UTEP vs Buffalo, that is a MUST win game for our conference, we have to beat other Non-BCS teams period if CUSA wants any repect by CFB community.
A few strung together wins does not a conference Sea Change make.
So ECU should play worse teams so we can win more games. Not sure I agree with that comment. How about CUSA should just get better and play better teams.
Hard not for the Sun Belt to feel that way IMO. A 6-6 UL-la beat our champs Houston on the road 2 years back & blew out one of our bowl team that year. Then last year seemed like every team they had in the belt (even losing ones) beat Memphis who was 6-2 in CUSA & a top CUSA team. Even looking at some of the other scores some of our better teams have struggled with .500 type Belt teams at times. UL-La almost beat UCF when they were a top CUSA team in 2005, USM had a tight one last year with a sub .500 team etc. They have certainly closed the gap & when they have .500 type teams competing with & even beating our top teams I can see how they can form those opinions.

The only obvious game I would favor them in is UAB @ Fl Atlantic.
That will be a rough road game for the blazers.
No way is North texas beating Tulsa.
Southern Miss needs to win both Sun Belt games... and they will.

A good argument against binge drinking and drug use.
Don't you know reading the Sun Belt board will rot your brain?

There is a great argument to just schedule weak like Hawaii and Boise State. Scheduling weak got them great press last year for playing a bunch of nobodies. Next year UCF is setup great with Buffalo, Samford, Miami (home), and NC State (home).
ECU gets a lot of winnable BCS teams to play, so that isn't a bad strategy either. I'm talking about games against UF, Texas, Ohio State, Georgia, etc are not in the best interest of the league.
UCF is moving to a 7 game home schedule so all our one and done series will be bought out in the next few years.
most of this "smack" is our fault ya'll...
Your Tigers need to blow away the Sunbelt teams. Now we have to hear about FAU being better than the C-USA teams.

Now I could have sworn we played Texas away next year.

You're right. We play Texas on the road next season.

By then the T-Sips will probabbly fire Mack Brown as the team will continue to underperform short of the Second Coming of Vince Young, the messiah of Texas Football.

Thats because we are.
Keep an eye out for the Owls OOC opponents theyre might be a surprise against Texas (Doubtful, but hey I can drink as much kool-aid as anyone) or Michigan State (THIS is more likely.)
UAB and Minnesotta SHOULD be wins, but lord knows FAU cant always close it out. See ULM for details.
GO OWLS

Last season UCF was up on Memphis 42-0 at halftime. Clearly, a couple SBC teams beating Memphis does not make the Sun Belt better than C-USA. I think most people here will admit that the top teams in the Sun Belt (FAU, Troy), could beat the cellar dwellers in C-USA, but that's it.
The top teams in the MWC, C-USA, or the WAC can beat the cellar dwellers in any of the BCS conferences, but you'll not find any of us non-BCS fans trying to say our conference is better than any in the Big 6.

Poor argument there. A 3-9 UAB team beat their champion Troy by 18 that same year.

Figured someone would come up with that with the 1st of the 2 conventions (only in chronology) begin Monday.
It would appear the title of this thread was the first mistake.
Hey, I like to see what's going on elsewhere.
I hope sun belt and all non=cartel conferences continue to get better, and soon make the BS conferences irrevalent
Umm, the best you can hope for is rise to the level of the BCS leagues. Nothing short of the disappreace (literally) of every powerhouse will make them irrelevant.
are you kidding me, he thinks the SBC is better than us at baseball? we will consistently send at least 5 teams to the tournament every year. and as last year shows, our teams are no pushover either. name one team in the SBC that can roll through all CUSA teams undefeated.
and as a homer, there's probably no doubt that Rice will destroy every team in that conference

Lets make sure we acknowledge Football and Basketball as well.
I'm trying to fathom how the F they stack up against us in those sports.

Ahhhh, But that is the point. You were not C-USA cellar dwellers, you did ok in your confrence, enough to earn a bowl spot, yet you still managed to loose to every Sunbelt team you played.
Hence why in some minds, the Sunbelt is on the rise while CUSA is falling back. The Sunbelt IS still the basement of confrences FOR NOW. After this year with a Good FAU team, Good TROY, and Possibly ULM with some OOC upset possiblites may very well pass up CUSA and MAC. Throw in the chance that we can go to 3 bowls now, which grants more revenue, and you will see the confrence get more attention and compete for better recruites.

FAU would get killed by USM, UCF, ECU, Houston, Tulsa, etc. Memphis was not good last year. UCF could have won 100-7 if we kept our starters in last year.

Sorry but a win vs Minn or Memphis does not make a program... I don't know what happened with Memphis last year, they lost to some Sun Belt but won some close CUSA games.
Tulsa, UCF, ECU, USM, or Houston would beat FAU or Troy last year. FAU is improving but don't think the game vs Memphis was a best of CUSA.
The problem with CUSA is we can pretty much beat anyone in our conference on any Saturday.

last season was a transition for Memphis football...we were coming off a 2-10 season in which Tommy fired our DC after the 3rd game of the season...we started slow, but as the season progressed, the team started to come together...i'm not going to sit here and say we were a good team, we were OK, and were blessed in playing most of the C-USA cellar dwellers the UCF fans talked about (and i'll tell you something else, UCF has some WAY over-cocky fans, esp on this board) FAU was a good squad last season, but don't start getting excited just because you managed to beat us in our 4th bowl in 5 years.

Fattening up on west division opponents is like cheating.
Going to the Sun Belt conference board and hearing them say they will surpass us in football and baseball is the equivalent of a Leper saying he can give better facials than a professional employee from a Spa....
I stopped reading when they said they were better at baseball..thats funny
