Well, so would I. But the plan to go to the game was in the works for months. Then, two weeks ago, my father-in-law announces -- doesn't ask, mind you, just announces -- that he was taking everyone to the beach for Labor Day weekend.
I am not going on principle. I hadn't planned to. Plus, it meant I wouldn't get to spend any time with my mother that weekend in the nursing home, which I plan to do all day on Sunday, which is also the one-year anniversary of my dad's death.
It just really ticked me off that it was assumed a trip to the beach trumped any other plans.
