I don't read that any other schools were busted.
I don't read that any other schools were busted.
from the article:
...The infractions committee pointed out that New Mexico was the third school that had major rules violations involving courses from Fresno Pacific.
After reading it again, I see that it probably means 2 others have had violations prior and maybe not busted currently.

Are you sure he was one of the coaches? Yesterday I was listening to sports talk here in el paso and they said that he was not involved and was not accused. Maybe I heard wrong.
NCAA credibility is waffling.
NCAA credibility is waffling.
I doubt the Lobo's will get much sympathy from this board due to our resident flamer Lobo.

Do you have a source to back that up? Rocky Long stated that Osia Lewis was not part of the investigation when he left UNM for UTEP. Mike Price also stated Lewis was not part of the investigation. Don't be a Hater.

I wouldn't be so quick to classify this as okay, even if you dislike one of the UNM's fans. The fact of the matter is when teams such as USC, OSU, Florida state, duke, kansas, etc, etc. cheat they don't get punished or get the bare mininum punishment. But when UNM or Memphis who publicaly admit they did wrong much like the ones above do something even if it's 1/100 of what the major university's do they get slaped happy by the NCAA. Which is disgusting because it's going to happen again and again and next time it might not be UNM who gets caught.

So you are saying there is a chance it will be UNM again?
So you are saying there is a chance it will be UNM again?
There's a possibility at this point it will be some other mid that gets in the cross hairs. I think the next likely one will be SMU because they'll get too good to fast and that will raise attention to them.

SMU is going to get really good and get the DP again just to set an example.... every 20 years or so they'll kill SMU to keep everyone else in line.
I dont think he has ever been away from this board for so long....hmmmm?

Please don't get into discussions about statistics with a Rice fan, its like flirting with a beautiful woman for us. You may think there is a distinct chance of getting lucky at the beginning but after some small talk you get shot down. And when I say us I mean you guys.

Its not ok in this regard, but if a certain Lobo wants to run over here and report every thing about UNM and the mtnnetwork then he should be grown up enough to discuss this. Funny how the usual suspects havent been around since this was posted.

Thanks for the heads up
I'm not excusing Lobo's behavior however am pointing out that you guys shouldn't rejoice in this particular act (non aq school) getting hit with sanctions is never a good thing exspecially when said school really didn't do much wrong and was self policing itself. Because next time it could be your university in the hot seat.

If the WAC or CUSA provides this list of demands to any other MWC program then we MIGHT be able to give you a sniff of interest ok! Until then forget about ever getting a MWC program to join the WAC or CUSA.
The MWC is starting to pull away from WAC, CUSA, Belt and MAC.

Dude, I have no love for n.m.u or n.m.a&m. I actually hate both schools. The only thing I hate more is lobocrack! I have no qualms with anyone else. Just cannot stand the State of New Mexico -- the wasteland of America. I will always rejoice in the failure of a ABQ school.

A step above wasteland. It is not so much the state as the two schools in the state.

FSU's hearing is still on track for October...
...The committee asked Marsh to return for Florida State football's October hearing on charges of academic misconduct...
Reggie Bush's 250K is still collecting interest, OJ Mayo is getting $2,300 shopping sprees by people connected to his agent and FSU has 36 players caught for cheating. Yet here we have a program like New Mexico that self reported and self imposed sanctions feeling the full wrath for "academic fraud". It's just another regular day in the NCAA.
WoW, I thought UTEPDallas was the biggest hater but you take the cake. Enjoy the Mtn in Juarez GoMinorGo.

You're comparing academic fraud to people not related to the university giving someone cash? In Bush's case, an agent tried to bribe his family into convincing him to sign with him. Bush decided to sign with someone else, and USC had nothing to do with the agent trying to buy Bush's signature, which would only have any use AFTER he left USC (meaning that USC does not benefit from that transaction, and thus, will not be punished for it).
Mayo paid the guy back, but actually following events and dealing with the truth don't seem to be your strong suit.
The bottom line is that academic fraud is the worst thing that you could do in COLLEGE sports.

No one want to be in a conference with no names like Colorado St. Wyoming, Air Force, UNLV and San diego st. Id rather play Memphis, ECU Houston, UCF, Tulsa, etc. Those are names the average fans recognize more than that sorry @ ss conference.

I've heard stories of men actually kidnapping people in broad day light on the El Paso side with assault rifles in hand and never to be seen again.
The Juarez Cartel is reeking havoc on that suburb of theirs.

As bad as Juarez has been this year, El Paso is still the 2nd safest city in the U.S. Everything is great here.

where the hell did u hear that bullcrap story
I have family in El Paso and I go there frequently. Everytime I go there they tell me something that happend in El Paso that had something to do with the drug war that's going on in Juarez.
I know my way around El Paso and there are places I definitely would stay away from at all cost.

There are places like that in every city.
And considering that you support academic fraud, I'm disinclined to believe anything that you type. So you can say what you want about having family in a certain city, but because no one can prove it, I'm not going to believe you. In short, you're full of manure.

LMAO.
Drop the crack pipe dude.
UTEP is not interested in joining a crappy Western based nonBCS conference most people and the media in the East Coast confuse with the WAC. I'm sure Rice, SMU, Tulsa and Houston fans think the same.

Security being heightened along U.S.-Mexican border after information was received last week.
A new warning that Mexican drug cartels have approved sending hit men into the United States has law enforcement agencies in El Paso and all along the border with Mexico on alert, the El Paso Times reported.
Local and federal law enforcement officials said the intelligence received last week does not name any specific targets, the Times reported.
"It's not a threat. It's information we received. Nobody has been threatened," El Paso police spokesman Chris Mears told the Times.
It's just the latest in a long series of rumors and warnings that have cropped up along the border this year amid a bloody ongoing war that has been linked to drug cartels in Juarez and elsewhere in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, the paper said.
The authenticity of the latest warning isn't known, but police agencies have been alerted so that officers "don't take any call for granted," Mears told the Times.
"Are there people involved in drug activity in Juarez living in El Paso? Sure there are. We all know that," Mears said. "... We are constantly getting intel from other agencies. Some proves out to be true. Some turns out not to be true."
Meanwhile, at least 20 homicides were reported in the Juarez area just over the past weekend, bringing the total number of homicides in and around the border city to nearly 900 this year, the Times reported.
While the ongoing cartel war has been largely contained in Mexico, more than two dozen gunshot victims have been taken for medical treatment in El Paso, prompting security lockdowns at the county hospital, according to a report from The Associated Press.
Earlier this year, law enforcement officials in New Mexico and Texas said they had received a purported cartel hit list identifying 15 to 20 potential targets in those states, but there were no specific targets named in the latest alert, the AP reported.

Oh we will keep enjoying El Paso. You can go anywhere here and feel safe. Things that happen across the border do not happen here. We are in the US and we have great authorities here and have for a long time. Did you see those horrible Albuquerque numbers though?

I really doubt it spills over, the cartels are not stupid. They know the US will pull out all stops to catch these guys if they do something. I beleive these are just rumors, a couple of months ago we had similar warnings that hitmen were targeting El Paso nightclubs that turned out to be false. Yesterday, gunmen entered Chamucos and opened fire into a packed club. Chamucos was my weekly hangout just about a year ago.
