You think Memphis would be BBQ.
Alabama St would be fried chicken.

Nothing is set in stone. We'll decide everything else on the 30th.

A lot of folks will be rushed for Memphis since it's a Thursday night game. But we can do whatever people want. Those were mainly first ideas.

I've got the green & gold lights.

There will be plenty of BBQ any way with the cook off so I think due to the time constraints of some & the fact there will be plenty of BBQ available, sandwiches are fine.

For Tulsa, I will bring homemade salsa, chips and some pickled hot peppers I recently canned.

I'll bring a dessert.

On an side note, game day is Little Smaug's birthday. Feel free to wander by and wish her a good one.

As far as pandering to the Golden Hurricane, I guess someone could bring a fan, we could aim it toward some Tulsa fans, and we could piss into it....

No, wait, we should save that for Memphis. We don't want them to think we'll throw our pee on just anybody.

Way to go Blazers!

So, for those of you who have done this in the past, I got my and vinebc's parking pass today. Of course, I won't be parking in the space, to provide us the necessary party room. Do I have to pay to park somewhere else, or can I just drive in the tailgate area, drop off anything I've got, and then pull somewhere else and park for free?

That's what I do, just drop off my stuff and park just outside the tailgate area. No one has ever said anything to me, but if they did I would just show them my season ticket parking pass.

Put us down for the potato salad.

I'll bring cole slaw (all the way from Fl- JK!). Put us down for 5. The other 3 won't be getting there until closer to game time.
Seriously, though, we've got the slaw covered.

I'm there +3
if somebody has a gigantic tub to ice canned sodas,
I'll bring 120 12oz. cans, mixed.

then we'll need ice, too.

I'll bring aluminum foil and bottled water.

I can get the ice... and one cooler anyway.

We'll bring the pickles and aluminum foil.

Someone's already claimed the foil...

We need condiments though!

Gotcha, it must not have been updated since last time. We'll get the mustard and ketchup. Any other condiments we need to bring?

I'll bring Relish and Kraut for the dogs too...

My wife and I will bring fruit salad, tomatos, onions and lettuce.

We will have 8 total for the tailgate.

Has anyone counted the number of people attending?

Last year we maxed out around 50. I'm bringing Burgers and buns for that many. With all the other food people are bringing we should be fine even if a lot more than that show up. We are going to have a sign in sheet this year so we can start getting a a count on who all we have, and there are talks of moving everything to a more centralized system where people just donate money and the organizers take care of all the food next year.

Id have to vote no to that centralized system- for my part, I enjoy sampling the variety of fan food offerings at our tailgate extravaganzas.

I'd agree.

I like to think of these things as church socials, where everyone brings a dish. This, of course, applies to Alabama's primary religion, football.

Actually, that was my mistake, the centralized concept was not about the food as a whole, just about the the parking area and main course.

What time are yall starting up at LF? I've got a UCF fan, a law buddy, and a UAB alum coming with me. We could bring some sort of snack if yall need anything.

In addition to my homemade salsa, I'll also bring a jar of hot sauce that will make you **** fire for a week.

It looks like Blazertalk has 20 spots!!!! Wow. Unfortunately I will miss the Tulsa game since my son's first birthday party is from 2-4 on Saturday. I plan on making a few games this year and will definitely make a stop at Party Central before the game.

Hmm. It seems to me the perfect first birthday party would be a cake and cookies at a Blazer tailgate, followed by tickets to the game.

Believe me. I tried but the wife would have none of it especially since she is not a football fan. I asked her if I could take him after the party to catch the second half and she just laughed. But I did get permission to take him to the next home game Sept. 20th against Alabama St.

I'll try to be there by 11:30 with the paper towels, Milo's and Bruster's.

Saturday is Annie's 6th birthday.

I'm bringing the bathroom.

It's also Little Smaug's 13th.

Take my advice on this--- leave the 1 yr old at home with your non-fan wife and enjoy the Alabama St game in person. Otherwise you will spend the game trying to keep the sun out of his eyes, keep him from getting hot or thirsty, changing diapers, etc. The loud noise from the fans and the pyrotechnics also can be tough on an infant. Theres no joy in it and both of you will have a miserable time.

I totally understand what your are saying. I took him to a couple of basketball games this past year. One game, he was perfect and enjoyed all the noise and commotion and sat still 95% of the game. The second game, I spent walking the concourse because he didn't want to sit still and he was a nightmare.

The football game maybe different because he loves being outside since there is so much to look at. I may just take my chances for the Al. St. game. But I may end up regretting it.

My son was 11 days old when he attended his first UAB sporting event: The UAB-Nebraska game at Nebraska.
