all of Washington Vacations in August, bush's job travels with him and is 24/7. same for Clinton and every other modern President, its when they recess.

unlike Pelosi who left town refusing an up or down Oil drilling vote.

I'm not a huge fan of Bush, but even when a president is on vacation, he is still able to do the same quality of work he does when in Washington. He has access to all of whatever he needs. Does he do a good job wherever he is? No. But he doesn't do worse when at Camp David or in Crawford.

Then we should just keep him on the job, locked up at the WH forever!

Bush has been on vacation for 2.5 years in a 8 year span.

Which pales in comparison to Barack's vacation from the Senate.

I must agree with you Reb although I wont defend our current dumbass either. The thing that I really question about BO is that he voted "present"...over 140 times. He chose to NOT take a positon on those votes. Leadership shown?....I think not.

Wasn't Bush in some Florida school promoting education when 911 occurred? Ain't that being on the job?

The president really doesn't get to have a real vacation like normal citizens. They are on call 24x7 365 days a year. By being away from the White House, it probably gives those employees some time off too. The maids, the cooks, the janitorial staff and others. Most top executives get 7 weeks of vacation a year. The president deserves time off just like the rest of us. Now I do take issue with politicans campaigning when session is in. How many votes have McCain, Obama, Kerry, Clinton, Dodd, Biden, Edwards, and Kucinich missed because they were running for president and not doing the jobs we taxpayers paid them to do. These guys do nothing but run for president and waste taxpayer money. How stupid are the people of Kucinch's district in re-electing him after he spends almost all of his last three terms running for president. Cleveland school kids get ripped in the paper for attendance, but their congressman is off running for president every year and never around to get his district enough money to solve its problems.

I'm not sure how it works in the House (if it happens at all), but I'm pretty sure the Senators are allowed to "attach" their vote to another Senator and therefore do not have to be present. Also, these politicians have enough money to afford to fly to Washington to vote on the "big" issues. I still have a problem with the tremendous amount of presidential campagining done by presently elected politicians (especially like Kerry and Obama who when he lost/if he loses, still retains his Senator seat as a safety net. I'm not sure what part of his term McCain is in). But I'm a little lenient with the knowledge that Congress and the president have the ability given today's technology to stay abrest and in contact with others in Washington, and also the ability to quickly transit throughout the country if need be.
