With the gap closed to within one point and Senegal surging with only two minutes gone in the third quarter, DeMarcus Cousins (6'11, 270) of Team USA1 decided to take over this contest. He was phenomenal on the floor putting the ball on the hardwood and getting into the lane for easy buckets and drawing fouls on his defenders when the buckets weren't so easy. His ability to absorb contact and finish the play was well documented here as the Senegalese team was quite aggressive on defense. One sequence included a drive into the paint where Cousins was fouled by two defenders before tossing in a jump hook for the score. The free throw was good, and then after a miss, Cousins pulled up and canned a long two from just inside the arc on the baseline. After that, Senegal never seemed to recover and ended the contest trying to play catch-up with off-balance threes. It wasn't happening for them, so Team USA1 takes the first game here, 81-68.
