any of you USM fans who still "love and admire" Brett Favre are delusional. This guy has spent every ounce of respect he ever earned and then some...if you're still holding on then you have no standards (or you've chosen to sit at home under your poster of #4 with your fingers in your ears). Now I have to go burn my fingers for adding to this waste of a topic.
How is it any more official today than it was in the past? At least today he was cleared of improperly contacting the Vikings.... seems like that would make him less of a douchebag than he appeared to be yesterday.
The Packers are the Morons to let a legend go after one of his best seasons for a nobody in Aaron Rodgers!!!
Favre will comeback and haunt the PACK!
Favre will comeback and haunt the PACK!
Um, he's been doing that since March.

Brett Favre is admired and loved by USM fans. If that bothers you, then guess what, we don't care. Why a UAB fan even feels the need to comment on a former USM player is beyond me. Considering your pathetic football program with all 3,000 fans in the stands is 0 forever against USM. So how many more years before Daddy Bama pulls the plug on UAB football. 2? 3? 4? 5? You know it is coming.

When Micheal Jordan came back nobody looked bad at him.Bret Favre wanted to play football for the Green Bay Packers, they for some reason ill never know, dont want him back and wont give him a release.I thought in the NFL it worked like this: You dont want a player you give them a release or trade them.Theyll do neither

Maybe we're talking about it because it can't be friggin' avoided, genius.
Tell me, do you take Favre's genitalia out of your mouth to just bust UAB fans when they bring it up, or do you do it for everyone?

I am sick and tired of fans from a absoulutely pitiful football school taking shots at Brett. He is a legend in the NFL and at USM. Your school meanwhile is barely still playing football. If you think the majority of USM fans are going to feel bad about supporting Brett Favre, then you Blazer losers are even more pathetic than I thought.
Worry more about putting 10,000 fans in the dump known as Legion Field instead of what one of the best players in the history of the NFL is doing. He wants to play football. So if Green Bay doesn't want him, all they have to do is release him. Not hard to understand unless you are a fan of a nothing football school whose fans are jealous as hell of Favre.
When he retired, the Packers relied on that and not only began plans to have Rodgers take over the team, they spent a draft pick on a back up qb. I don't think the Packers would refuse to trade him, it is just that the two ideal situations are within their division. So, if he just wants to play, he should accept a trade to any team. Same problems exist if they just outright release him. Would people feel the same if Favre didn't retire, but just demanded to be released or traded? Probably not, especially in the case of a request for a release. By retiring and then coming out of retirement, thereby forcing the Packers to move on and plan to go with Rodgers, Favre has put Green Bay in a position of the bad guy that doesn't want him to play. You don't have to agree with the Packers to understand why they are a little frustrated with the situation. That said, they should go ahead and name him as the starter and try to make a run knowing that such a decision will almost guarantee that Rodgers is gone next year and that, despite Favre being the best choice for this year, such a decision will push back the amount of time to rebuild.

That you think I'm jealous just shows how myopic you are.
I couldn't care less if Favre went to USM, Notre Dame, or Pike County Community College. Frankly, I liked the guy until about 5 months ago. Now, I don't.

The Packers have let it be known they don't want Brett now. Fine, then release him. End of the story.
Dammit fellow Blazers just shut the heck up about Brett. You're complaining about ESPN having a hard-on for him yet you won't shut up yourselves. Turn off ESPN and watch Discovery channel or something, it is the freaking off-season. You're making me feel dirty by having to side with these pheasant droppings on this issue.

Gee, I am sure Brett would be crushed to learn you don't like him. He is his own man. He couldn't even be bribed for 25 million $. He wants to play football. He loves the game and decided he isn't done with playing. Fine, Green Bay doesn't want him, then they just need to give him his release. Not hard to understand.
If he just wanted to play, seems the Bucs and Jets were interested.
I like USM but Brett is now a piece of garbage in my book.
I like USM but Brett is now a piece of garbage in my book.
Careful! Dare question St. Brett and you'll have USMBacker rain scorn down upon UCF's head.
I like USM but Brett is now a piece of garbage in my book.
Yea, you no doubt love Brandon Marshall. So how long before his arrest number 4? Great role model for UCF fans. Talk about a real piece of garbage.
I like USM but Brett is now a piece of garbage in my book.
I dont know how people can be like this, the man just turns down 25 millions dollars to play the game, How can you hate that, especially coming from todays athletes... I can gurantee you most would of taken the money...
I have mixed feelings on the matter, myself. I used to really like Favre, also. But he selfishly put the Packers in a really bad spot, and the Packers reacted badly. I really don't think there are any image winners from this whole mess. Favre lost the respect of many, and the Packers upper management has let their pride be their downfall. Both parties have come out of this looking like idiots.
And since it's been brought up, I pretty much rolled my eyes at Jordan, too. Never really liked him much (though I respect him for his accomplishments and talent, and what he brought to the game...much like now feel about Favre). I just feel like when you make a statement, you should stick to it. Don't turn around and do an about face. It makes you look like a liar. If you're not sure that you're done, then the answer is very simple.
Don't come out and say that you're retiring!
And for the other part of the responses, no I'm not delusional enough to think that it matters to any of them (or any of you all, for that matter) what I think.

Yea, you no doubt love Brandon Marshall. So how long before his arrest number 4? Great role model for UCF fans. Talk about a real piece of garbage.
I'm not worshiping Brandon Marshall so that analogy doesn't work. This is just my personal opinion of Brett Favre so don't take it personal.
and it clear that many people now have the same opinion too.

So you agree that Marshall is a piece of garbage.
Jordan at least stayed retired for longer than 2 weeks and at the time he first retired he was dealing with a lot of off-the-court issues such as the murder of his father. Furthermore, he didn't play the "I might be retiring game" for the prior four off-seasons like Favre has.
Favre loves football, no doubt, but I also have to believe that he loves being the face of the Packers even more. When the Packers announced veteran rookie QB Aaron Rodgers as their starter I think that's when Favre wanted to come back. He simply could not handle someone else having his position, on his team, in his stadium. I know it's a tough pill to swallow but damn, if you didn't want to retire then why did you in the first place? You also cannot tell me that the Packers forced him to because up until this moment they have been nothing but patient with him.
Favre was a very good player and has done a lot of good things for his communities but this is one of the most selfish acts I have ever seen. He says he wants to play but only if he can play for one of a few teams. He wants to be released but doesn't want the Packers to get anything in return. He doesn't want the money to stay retired but he wants his old job back, the same one he left just a few weeks ago. The only way Favre will be happy is if he gets everything EXACTLY the way he wants it.
ESPN is the best at annoying the hell out of people with their excessive exposure of a few topics. This time they have outdone themselves with the constant Favre coverage. I love it when the super special Favre ticker says the following:
FAVRE: Favre did not practice today
WOW!! Thanks for that insight, ESPN! Thank you so much for keeping me up-to-date on literally everything that clown does.
All that said, usmbacker is a tool.

Wow, another idiot Blazer fan attacking Brett. This gets more humorous by the minute. For your info, Brett is on a plane back to Hattiesburg tonight. He decided that his presence was too big a distraction to the Packer team. He did not want that. Look for a trade to Tampa Bay to be announced soon.
So the Favre saga will end and Brett will play football again it seems.
Now the question of if UAB football can put 10,000 people in the seats for their football games will be answered soon also. Of course the question if Daddy Bama will allow UAB to even have a team in the next few years will be worth watching.
Of course every conference needs a bottom feeder. UAB fits the bill rather nicely for CUSA.
Brett is on a plane back to Hattiesburg tonight. He decided that his presence was too big a distraction to the Packer team.
Well, no sh*t! He's been a distraction since the day he retired! What made him finally feel like he was a distraction? Was it because he didn't get his way or did he finally see his Favre ticker and the number of hours ESPN has dedicated to his indecision?
I still fail to see how your media whore god has anything to do with UAB football.

Whats the matter, upset that no former UAB player could distract a NFL team no matter how hard he tried. Like Backer said, you guys should be worried about that sad excuse for a football program and not Brett Favre.
Oh no, everyone is talking about USM's god, Brett Favre. Stop the madness. Persecute all who speaks against the mighty Favre. The indecisive one should be bowed down to, not spoken bad about.
The funny thing is that you have no retort to what we are saying about Favre so you have to resort to talking smack about UAB, which has absolutely nothing to do with Favre. Keeping reaching, Favre Followers.
Delusional??? DELUSIONAL???? USMBacker, you are the one delusional to not look at this situation and not believe that Farve, the Legend has acted like a whiney, needy, spoiled child. His "You don't love me enough" attitude and holding the Packers hostage each season for the last four years has gotten old to the organization The Packers have definately done a crap-tastic public relations job, by the way. But, there is no way this divorce can end amicably. Farve's Varuca Salt complex and the Packer's trying to smile and make this go away (stupid tactic, never works) is a recipe for disaster.
But you, USMBacker are a piece of work. FYI, UABs lack of support and poor football record has nothing to do with the Farve issue. By the way, I'm an ECU fan. Yeah, yeah, no champoinships, always blowing the BE members. Don't forget about the Rice folks. They, and Tulane, are the smart guys. They can't maintain a respectable football team and baseball is a non-revenue sport, right? Marshall are a bunch of hillbillys. Don't forget, USM built thier reputation as a strong (for a non-BCS, of course) football team on the backs of a constant supply of Prop 48, non-qualifyers, right? That's dumb people who can play football for you leyman types. Any other generalizations you can think of can apply also. Anything to distract from the real issue...Farve is being a douchebag, just like you USMBacker. The only difference is that Farve is 38 and you are 12.

Nice litte tantrum Pirate boy. Feel better. The venom against Brett on this board is just too funny. Hey Pirate boy...25-8 ring a bell? Zero CUSA football titles ring a bell? Seriously, you might want to try some ex-lax. You just might get it all out of your system finally. Brett Favre is Brett Favre. He turned down a 25 million dollar bribe to play football. Morons like you have no clue what he is about. Of course you are to busy with your AD at kissing the Big East's azz to know what is going on in the world.
Again, no response to the actual issue at hand. Now I see where Favre got "childlike" qualities from.
It's all good. The more dumb-assed responses we get from Farve's taint-licker, the more we get to see his signatures. You need to bring back the old one, by the way. Oh, wait a minute. Brett's balloon knot needs some attention, Eagle boy. Fly. Fly like the wind, oh mighty eagle.

Brett has been called by several degrading names in this thread. Brett need no defending by me. Even if I did, you fools are so awash in hatred for the man it wouldn't matter. You would think the man had done something criminal and injured you idiots personally. Well, keep the attacks coming and I will keep the responses coming.
So St. Louis is this the season of UAB's domination. I mean, do you think they can actually win three games this year? Nah, probably not.

If you think I am embarrassed to be a proud supporter of Brett Favre, then it just goes to show what a little fool you are. So has Terry got his gameplan for kissing azz to the Big East this year all planned out? Now that is of interest to many here.
Farve has my respect. He takes a beating year in and year out. No wonder he wants to retire when the seasons over. Once his wounds heal a little he gets to thinking about the dollars I'm sure, plus, football is his life. I have no problems with Farve. He is a HOF QB.
Again, no response to the actual issue at hand. Now I see where Favre got "childlike" qualities from.
*sigh*
I didn't want to have to do this:

And now to make myself the idiot:
Ok, so Brett wants it his way. Now answer me this: Why should Brett Favre try not to get it his way? Are there any superstar athletes that don't try to manipulate the situation so that they are on the team they want to be and getting paid the money they want (and I think Brett established that he is not in for the money)?
He made the mistake of retiring and lost his old job. Should all retirees who decide that they want to start working again settle for a janitorial spot, or as free American be allowed to look for the job they want?
The Packers have the contract and are free to do whatever they want with it (just as you're free to flush your money down the toilet). But Brett is free to do what he can within his rights to play where he wants. This is the classic two unmovable opposed objects case.
If they would trade him to the Vikings or the Bears, the Packers would get plenty in return. The problem is, they know that if the Vikings or the Bears get Favre, that team will win the division (and the Packers will not, and those 2 losses don't help their Wild Card chances).
To me the Packers look stupid because they can trade their quarterback, AARON RODGERS, and get a draft pick for next year that can be the new Favre replacement. We all know that Favre isn't going to quit mid-season, and if he gets injured we already know they have a backup.
Geeze, I wish the turkeys could put together a coherent argument so I didn't have to.
Nobody has said Favre isn't a HOF QB and didn't give a great effort on the field. The majority of the people outside of MS and WI are tired of his act off of the field. We are tired of hearing about him on every sports channel we turn to, reading about him on every website and in every paper, and are now tired of tools like usmbacker.
From Rihanna's song "Take a Bow":
But now it's time to go
Curtain's finally closin'
That was quite a show
Very entertainin'
But it's over now (But it's over now)
Go on and take a bow
Geeze, I wish the turkeys could put together a coherent argument so I didn't have to.
Unfortunately, your arguments are severely flawed so you might want to practice your turkey call so you can bring in backup.
1. Aaron Rodgers has 0 trade value, Brett Favre has a lot
2. It doesn't matter what sport it is, you rarely see a superstar player traded within the division and most of the time they are sent to the other league!. Look at the trades over the past few years in all sports: Manny to the Dodgers, CC Sabathia to the Brewers, Griffey Jr to the White Sox, Shaq to the Suns, Garnett to the Celtics, etc, etc, etc.
3. Nobody is saying that Favre shouldn't be allowed to play. We are saying that if he wants to play sooooo bad that he should accept a trade to any team.
4. The Packers do look bad but what else are they supposed to do? Favre has held them hostage for years when he thought about retiring and when he finally did (albeit for two freakin' minutes) they naturally moved on and started working for the future. Favre came in and wrecked all of that and did it demanding this and demanding that.
Even the Germans are tired of his act.

I will step out of this conversation because STLouisBlazer has said exactly what needs to be said.
USMBacker, you can respond as much as you like as long as you continue to have your slutty, titty-flapping, moose-knuckle signatures.
Hasta!

Believe me, other USM fans are tired of the Favre bashing and people calling him all kinds of names that aren't anywhere close to being justified. As for the word tool, you fit it extremely well in my opinon. Along with many others in this thread.
"1. Aaron Rodgers has 0 trade value, Brett Favre has a lot"
Then make the preseason a COMPETITION. If Aaron shows a lot of potential, his trade value will go up. If he sucks, then he shouldn't be starting.
"2. It doesn't matter what sport it is, you rarely see a superstar player traded within the division and most of the time they are sent to the other league!. These guys are getting traded to teams with playoff aspirations. In the NFL the only teams with playoff aspirations and don't have quarterbacks... are in the NFC North. As old as Shaq, Garnett and Griffey are, if they were traded to the Grizzlys or Nationals they would retire. Manny would just sit on the turf and pick dandelions.
"4. The Packers do look bad but what else are they supposed to do? Oh boo hoo, they have to have a well-trained backup ready in case their superstar quarterback can't play anymore. If they didn't have an agenda (get rid of all traces of the old team), they would be like "HOORAY! WE HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN THE SUPERBOWL!" You don't see the Colts telling Manning it is time to move on because he can't practice with them this off-season. Favre is ready to go NOW.
I'm tired of Farve and he deserves every name that he has been called and then some.
You don't see the Colts telling Manning it is time to move on because he can't practice with them this off-season. Favre is ready to go NOW.
FAVRE RETIRED, MANNING DIDN'T!
Try comparing apples to apples when trying to debate this issue. It's obvious you have a MS bias so you, like Favre, can't separate your emotions from the facts at hand.
Nobody said anything about Favre's ability to play. I think most would agree he is ready to go now but what does that do for the Packers future? Let them play the "I might be retiring" game again next year? I don't think so.
Oh yeah, before Garnett was traded to the Celtics they were one of the worst teams in the league. We all know how that story played out.
I'm tired of Farve and he deserves every name that he has been called and then some.
And I am tired of mostly UAB fans whining about Favre and everything said about your sorry football program is true and then some.

Wrong context, I'm talking about this bizarre desire to move on for team chemistry. THERE IS NO NEED TO MOVE ON!
"Nobody said anything about Favre's ability to play. I think most would agree he is ready to go now but what does that do for the Packers future? Let them play the "I might be retiring" game again next year? I don't think so. "
Why not? The first year Favre doesn't play for the Packers, they are not going to the playoffs. If Aaron is so itchy to play, then improve his worth, trade up for a better draft pick (trade him to a mid-range team that if they miraculously play well have the conditional clause give GB a 2nd round pick as well they can use to trade up for a higher 1st round pick). They can draft another young quarterback that will have more years than Aaron to play the starting role (assuming Favre does eventually reach the point he is unable to perform).
"Oh yeah, before Garnett was traded to the Celtics they were one of the worst teams in the league. We all know how that story played out.
They also acquired Ray Allen, there are a lot of NFL teams that would look a lot better if they acquired 4 superstars (a little less than 2/5ths). Were the Timberwolves doing anything? Wasn't Kevin asking for a trade?
