Well, the SEC Media Days have started at The Wynfrey, and I have turned off my Birmingham News headline updates, because in the past hour, I have received four, count 'em, four updates about Tim Tebow and his Heisman (or is it his Heisman?) in the lobby of the hotel.
My recommendation to everyone on Blazertalk: Don't turn on your televisions, pick up a newspaper or go to Al.com until the SEC blow job is over.
Yeah, but could Cowatch Bryant win 16 games a year with today's rules?
Oh, wait. Wrong week for that.
It's still "Coach Saban looked at me in study hall. Do you think he likes me?" week.
This is pathetic, I passed tv news & radio trucks from north AL & Tennessee all morning on the way to work.
They are going to interview Saban's garbage man today on WJOX. His proctologist tomorrow.
Interesting story....
I work at Bent Brook golf course and we are hosting the SEC Media personalities today for a tournament. I was hitting some balls on the driving range, when Ian Rappoport walks up beside me. He said "I didn't expect to see a blazer fan here". We then proceeded to have a contest to see who could hit their sandwedge closest to the pin (90 yards out). If I win he has to say Go Blazers and if he wins I have to say....you know what.
I beat him by about 5 yards and got a Go Blazers out of him.

Talk radio in Birmingham is horrible!

All you get is Alabama this and SEC that...........all dang year. Talk radio here in Atlanta is great! We got 790 and a few other stations, plus we got the best radio show in the south with the 2Live Stews.
Why would you not pay attention to the SEC. Best conference in the best sport in the country and its in Birmingham. Sorry, people don't really care about our conference. I would much rather listen to Alabama and Auburn talk just because its more interesting.

Some of us would not. I could care less about the SEC. I enjoy watching the NON-BCS leagues play. I enjoy hearing about them as well. If it is the SEC it loses my interest quickly.

Their fragile inflated ego can be stroked without me, thanks.

Should've made him say it on air. Then when he chickened out, we could talk bad about him.
Never mind, we need no excuse for that.

Hmmm...Granted, the SEC stays in the "conversation" sports-wise, and their main office is in Birmingham - the city's renting it to them for a dollar a year, it was a move indicative of this city's leaders' lack of intestinal fortitude...The SEC hosts no post-season events in this town (don't say the baseball tournament, not one single game is played in Birmingham, they're all played in Hoover) whatsoever, it's all in Atlanta, Orlando, maybe New Orleans...It's no wonder the sports scene in Birmingham is so putrid and dismal...Yet, this town's sports media and overall populace sings the SEC's praises like shameless, bootlicking cravens, especially the sports talk radio culture...IMO, the SEC's done more harm to this town than good where recognition as a sports town is concerned....Birmingham is no longer the "football capitol of the south", not even close,& you can't deny that...If someone here can tell me how Birmingham is benefitting from kissing SEC butt by giving them office space but not getting any kind of post-season game action, I'd love to hear from you.
It's just like the saying goes and it fits this town to a tee: "No guts...no glory." Time to step up, Conference USA!
