She got disqualified from the LPGA event because she didnt sign her scorecard in the scoring area. And before all her defenders freak out this is one of the cardinal rules of golf. Two signatures on the scorecard and it must be done in a roped off area.
My son learned this when he was 8 years old playing on the Vince Gill Jr Tour. The stupid thing are these idiots on the golf channel blaming everyone except the sole person who should be blamed MICHELLE WIE

You are right, and you know why? Because she has been given EVERYTHING since she was 10 years old. Exemptions into LPGA events, Nationwide events and even PGA Tour events. She wasnt even the best FEMALE JR GOLFER HER AGE!!
What I didn't understand is why it took all day. Either she did or she didn't. If they knew it yesterday what could have possibly changed during her round today? Some of the rules of golf are kind of silly but I think if it happened the previous day and you allow them to tee off on their first hole the following day, then the opportunity for DQ should have ended.
Don't take this as taking up for Wie, I don't like her at all, my questions are aimed at the rules body.
She has a new video game coming out:
Wie for the Wii.

They claim they didn't know until today (during her round). If that's the case, they should be disqualified as well (nullifying the whole thing). I don't care for her either, but the rule was invented when we were still writing on stone tablets. I think we've got enough technology now to verify the freakin' scorecard.

The point is she should have known better. EVERYONE who reaches that level knows better. It would have been one thing if she shot 85 and pulled a Daly and stormed off. But she shot 65!!!

This is not the first time something like this has happened with Wie. You dont see Tiger or any of the other top players making this mistake.
It's not like I didn't smile when I heard about it; I was just sayin', LOL. Whether it's sill a good rule or not, she was a dumbarse to break it.t
Generally, the caddie looks over the player's shoulder all the way through the post round responsibilities. However, you probably cannot blame the caddie in this case because he was probably told to shut his mouth and know his role when he was hired. Her parents have manipulated her into a shell of what she could be, both, as a player and as a marketing object. She has no discipline for the "grind" that is required to be even a regular golfer on the tour, much less a top echelon star.

I agree there is no virtually no excuse for forgetting to sign your scorecard or even signing a wrong scorecard but better people and better players have done it before-i.e. Devincenzo(sp?) in the masters probably 30 yrs ago. But I agree with RMC that she also does not have the mental fortitude at this time in her career that is required . She's got all the talent in the world but it takes more than that-see John Daly, David Gossett, etc etc and these are just "local" guys
Miss Wie's yet another example of a young kid who is way over-pimped, over-hyped, over-marketed and over-whored-out by her own family...a darn shame for an athlete so gifted.
