Maybe because he's on thin ice?

How is he on thin ice if he has just resigned?
Did you even consider what you wrote there before you posted it?

In your last post, you just said he resigned. Is it re-signed or resigned? Did you even consider what you wrote there before you posted it?
And how many years did he "resign" for there boss? Do you know that? Because the answer leaves you to believe he is on thin ice.

has he signed a new contract or quit, you have said both??????????

signed a new contract.
Thought that was evident. Now quit shooting the messenger and ask yourself why ETSU would withhold this information.

Besides mens and womens basketball and the AD, when has ETSU ever released contract information?
07-02-2008, 03:08 PM
THat's the point.
Why shouldn't they?
This is a school that for the last several years has tried to live a Title IX ideal where the golf team is just as important as the basketball team and it wouldn't be fair to have a football team if it took away from other sports.
So, the only time they release contract extensions is if it's hoops or Mullins trying to get his name in the paper?
Had Skole's contract been announced, then it's a story. It's his name in front of the public. It's a department saying "We just think he had a bad year and is not a bad coach."
It lends to kids going to his baseball camp and local players increasing their consideration to play for him.
My question is why no traditional media would just ASK the powers that be if he'd been signed, and then do a story with it, even if it was the old "terms were not disclosed."

Which one was his bad year? I can think of several. Another case of ETSU keeping a bad coach because they are afraid if they look for another one nobody will want the job. Welcome back Murray Skole I guess err Tony..

Shaw- that's not the point. The line was to speculate what would be said in an annoucement.
The point is- why wouldn't you announce he's signed on for more years?
It is the era of no accountability at ETSU- unless- of course- you happen to talk to the roommate of an athlete.
OH, GOD! THAT'S A CAPITAL OFFENSE! YOU SHOULD DIE FOR THAT!

I don't know why they didn't announce it, maybe they are embarassed that they are bringing him back and taking a few days to figure out how to spin it? just a guess.

To really put how ETSU baseball in perspective. Walters State had 6 players drafted this year, 4 by the Braves and 4 of the played signed to play next season also got drafted. Walters States seems to have a pipeline to the Braves, 10 players have been signed by the Braves alone the last 3 seasons. Thats a successful program.. now ETSU on the other hand has....................damned if I can think of anything.

Rod- If you wish to comment on the demise of ETSU baseball, you can start your own thread on it.
However, if they were so embarassed they were bringing him back, then they wouldn't have brought him back.
Of course, this is ETSU. They just might.
Don't discount this not announcing a contract extension. There's no reason not to.

Maybe the powers to be are still trying to hid the fact from the majority of people that the baseball players were told by the baseball coaches to vote against the return of football.
Story was, players were asked "would they rather play many games in Sunny Florida or have to play games closer to home and in cold weather because cuts would be made in the baseball program to help fund the return of football".
Gosh, what a tough choice for 18-21 yearolds. After days of deliberation and anguish, they finally choose paid sunny vacations in Florida. Thanks Tony.

Tony should be ashamed of himself.

Why? If it is true he sold out and got job security. Record on the field doesn't matter as long as you kiss your bosses ass. It worked for Mullins getting a job he didnt' deserve. why shouldn't the people under him follow his example on how to get ahead?

Ten- I've heard rumors to that effect, but has it ever come out for sure?
I would think that questioning the players once they graduate would clarify this.
The thing that would go against Skole doing this is he himself was a football player at The Citadel. Again, I've heard the rumors, but I don't know if they are true or not.
And Rod- good point.
