I would like to say congrats to UTEP, Rice, UCF, Memphis, Tulsa, Marshall, SMU, Houston, and UAB for their 2007-2008 Championships.

I would also like to say congrats to ECU for being a champion in absolutely nothing in 2007-2008..... as usual!

Actually Hawaii Bowl Champions has a nice ring to it. You should try and get one of those (or any bowl) championship soon.

And UCF c0ck$suckers are the gold standard in new material? You've only got one thing to say, over and over and over again. CUSA championship. Cant bring up head-to-head, cant bring up bowls, cant bring up wins against BCS teams, cant bring up wins against top 25, top 10. Cant bring up rankings.

I love how Boise State has become the staple of success.

FWIW, there are 4-5 teams in C-USA that could have run the table with Boises schedule the last 2 years.

Then half of us would have "wins over Top 25 teams" just like Rutgers can say they beat "#2 USF" or Missouri beat "#2 Kansas" and FSU beat "#2 Boston College."

You are running your egos on one game against a decent team (who was still in the HAWAII BOWL hint hint) while we're talking about CHAMPIONSHIPS that reflect ENTIRE SEASONS.

PS - how were your other bowls? Partially honest question (because I don't know) and partially loaded (Because I do know that you 1) Lost to USF before USF was really good (we played them closer than you did that year) and 2) You had the biggest MELTDOWN ever against Marshall a few years ago in Mobile.

Yes, well "meltdown" and "choke" are two words we know very well.

As far as Boise, we're not saying we beat the best team ever or anything, just that we beat a ranked opponent in a bowl (on a field they are very familiar with)

And yes, the one before that we lost to USF by 2-3 scores (QB got knocked out of the game)

The one before that we totally blew the lead/Marshall made a great comeback.

Before that we beat Texas Tech pretty good

Before that there were about 10 more we've been to and 6 of those were wins.

I was just basically bringing that up because one UCF poster said its the same BS...no, the same BS would be when you can only bring up 2 conference championships over and over and over and......

Like I said, same tired BS. In the grand scheme of things, we're still a very young program. I do have a lot of respect for the things ECU has done in the PAST. Ask those same questions when UCF has 75 years of football under our belts. There is no doubt that momentum is on our side.

And your success 2 out of the last 3 years has been good too...im just trying to get it through some of your heads that when you try to call us out for the "same old bs" when you only have 1 thing to fall back on (2 if you count basketball, but anyone talking **** to us in basketball would be like the Patriots talking **** to the little giants) you look ridiculous. Its not us repeating the same, single thing, its you. We just repeat about 5-6 things when we try to bust your balls. :)

Dream on. Our champ lost to UL-La two years ago(theirs an example of your worth of that trophy) while Boise beat 3 teams that were in the top 25. Boise was legit with many of the same players off that top 5 team. Having played & beat both, you are dreaming if you think you were better than they were, & they didn't run the table. Close but they didn't.

Beat one ever & then maybe you can start to make that claim.

Ranked team in a bowl, two things you have never done

Championships of the worst rated D1a conference & below a couple D1aa's as well, you won by one game over us & couldn't beat us. You were lucky you didn't get a healthy USM like we did. We'll get back to the Liberty Bowl where we have been a couple times & actually won & when we do well deserve to be there & not get embarrased by a historical SEC bottom feeder a couple games over .500.

I'm fine with our season, we ended it on a higher not than any new-CUSA team 3 years deep, and beat your ass down. Keep your 13th ranked conf championship you back into, sure wasn't from actually beating us or having anything to thump your chest about.

Any monumentum you thought you had fizzled with your bowl when the nation got to see what you were all about & your one dimension going pro to the 2nd day of the NFL draft & your DC getting stolen by a conference school much like your AD. We heard this same pooh 2 years ago & you went in the tank the very next year. Smells a lot like that one on the roller coaster ride that is O'leary at UCF. Maybe he can actually pull his record up to close to .500 at UCF this year.

You have been playing for 30 years & USF & FAU have done things you haven't in D1a & D1aa in a fraction of that.

If you add up what you have done in the last 30 years & extend it out 75 years you are looking at.

0 bowl wins, in 75 years
0 top 25 wins in 75 years
0 top 25 finishes in 75 years
5-112 vs the BCS in 75 years
2 conference championships

Impressive pace.

You bore me, Jonsey. Your shtick is always the same. It must really burn you up that ECU has this long storied past with all of these great accomplishments, yet you still can't shake the mid-major status. Most Knight fans will acknowledge that our administration dropped the ball at one point and we floundered terribly. There is no doubt that our program is heading in the right direction today.
If we lost our momentum in Memphis it seems like we got it right back on National Signing Day. Don't worry, maybe you guys will crack the top 75 in this years class rankings.
A serious question: How are you guys going to replace CJ's production. You do know that he was responsible for the same % of your scoring as Kevin was to ours, don't you? I've asked Pirate fans before, and no one seems to have an answer.

Actually I was fine with it when their were programs like Louisville & TCU. It's when our comish started importing the Mac & A-Sun elements I started not to be much of a fan of where we are at. Our status has certainly taken a dip with those additions. Your welcome for us signing off BTW, cusa could have taken you years ago & sat at 11 teams despite a championship. Think the Big East for punching your ticket & shafting the rest of CUSA.

that's your smack? Funny you said 2 or 3 years ago these rankings didn't mean **** when O'leary was going after no bodys like 64k & ranked about the same. Truth is they don't matter after that very top level elite talent none of us get anyway that is already built like NFL players & go to USC.

Their are thousands of players, only 12 games to scout them in, probably only 50 snaps in those games, & 95% of those enter college as 17 year old boys & have to get in the weight room & grow. You get the 64k's & real 24k like we had last year that fall through the cracks left & right or just get in weight rooms & blow up. You can wipe your ass with those rankings past the top classes in football, & that's the truth. UNC has top 10-20 classes & look at them.

Probably with the rising SR, RB that had beaten him out for the job as a Jr before he was injured & that CJ didn't beat out for the job last year until the 3rd game of last season.

Lindsey has seen extensive action his career, & ran better in game 1 vs Virgina Tech than CJ & got the tough short yards last year as a power back on the team that came in short yardage situations. If not him the soph stud that averaged 7 yards per carry in limited action we were grooming for the future. You like recruiting he was a big tim recruit if that matters. We also have another 6-1 230lb SR that's waited his turn & ran as a power back in short yardage & had 5 TD's himself in the last 2 years & ran all over Virginia as the starter. Then their is the JUCO all american that redshirted last year. I'm sure we will figure something out at RB.

CJ was obvioulsy a better NFL talent than Smith according to the scouts but he disappeared a lot in games. When he was on he was on but some games he would get shut down, & might only get 30 yards then the next game get 300 & run up his stats. We should benifiet from a more consitant power back attack this year I suspect & a great offensive line.

We have the #6th most experience team in the nation you have the #71st. We can make it up in area's like QB where we have 2 that have proven they can win games or throw for 400 yards if needed, & return just about everyone else to help them do it. We have a dynamic enough offense & diverse QB's/ players/ packages to make it up, not a hand & stand team like you guys.

Good luck with Greco, we've seen that sack, trying to give the ball to another player 500 times & ride him more than any team in 150 years of college football history & expect him to luck up and stay healthy, & a new DC.

What is funny is you constantly rip CUSA's status but your team cannot even win this lousy conference. I mean come on....this is "one of the worst conferences" in football and your team has never even won such an easy Championship. You know that stings!!!

Actually it doesn't sting at all because the conference hasn't been worth much to win the last few years. I was happy with our bowl match up last year & beating ranked America's darling in it & finishing on a high note with momentum. It's certainly not like our champ is respected around the nation & you went a long ways in helping perpetuate that last year with the bowl embarrassment.

Lets put this in perspective, you won o1more game than us last year in CUSA & got your asses beat by us. Congrats on getting a beat up USM that was picked to win CUSA & healthy when we played them not on their 3rd QB & a shell of themselves after Rice had their way with them. You backed into the championship & couldn't beat us on the field. I think we got you from the Sun Belt or worse the A-Sun. Something like that.

Interesting of the 5 backs that return with experience there are

247 carries, 1117 yards, 4.6 yards a carry, & 13 TD's

worth of proven production, that is now older including a couple Sr's. Not to mention 7 olineman that have been full time starters (couple were out last year) also a year older. I think we will figure something out

I see you have 422 yards of experience returning to replace a far more part of your offense you were dependant on, & I think that guy is injured right?

To the person that asked about our bowl History off the top of my head ECU won two Tangerine Bowls in the 60's the 1978 Independence Bowl, the 1992 Peach Bowl, The 1995 Liberty Bowl, The 2000 Houston Bowl, and the 2007 Hawaii Bowl. ECU lost the 1994 Liberty the 1999 and 2001 GMAC Bowl's and the 2006 PapaJohns Bowl.
